While much work has been done to assess the relationship between the teaching of entrepreneurship and entrepreneurship intentions of recipients, very few studies have been carried out – especially in the Nigerian context – on the perceptions of technically-inclined students to the teaching of entrepreneurship. This study sought to find out the perceptions of engineering students of one university in Nigeria to the teaching of entrepreneurship education (EE). Perception of EE was defined in terms of perceived need for EE, Perceived relevance of curriculum, and Perceived competence of EE lecturers. A census was carried out on the 141 final year engineering students and data were descriptively analyzed using mean and standard deviation, and inferentially, using multiple regression analysis. The study s...

With effective and efficient use of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs), banks are poised to use e-banking channels to promote better and safer customer services as well as achieve competitive advantage. The study found that some limited forms of cash-less banking already existed in the country even before the pronouncement of the cashless policy by the central bank, and thus traced the adoption of ICTs in the Nigerian banking industry and its application as a competitive tool. Banks have to contend with non-bank institutions as well, since the application of ICTs for funds transfer is not limited to banks alone. The study was based on desk review of secondary data regarding adoption of ICTs in banks as well as reports and comments by informed analysts. The major channels for cashless banking services in the country were discussed, along with their implications for the banks, customers and the society at large. The challenges facing the adoption of the cashless banking initiative by Nigerians were identified and suggestions proffered on how to improve the adoption and efficiency of cashless banking in the country.

Four portfolio analysis models: Boston Consulting growth-share matrix, General Electric industry-attractiveness matrix, Shell directional policy matrix, and Arthur D. Little strategic condition matrix, were discussed in terms of their nature, characteristics, relevance and strategic implications to marketing and management. The limitations of each of these strategic tools were expounded and some newer variants of portfolio analysis models that emerged as a result of these limitations were briefly discussed. The study revealed that each of the four portfolio models has its own merits and demerits and none can be said to be superior as their proponents had advanced. Instead, each can be applied depending on the need of the organization and the environment in which it operates and they could sometime be employed in an integrative manner. It also revealed that the newer variants though theoretically sound are not popular in marketing and management literatures and in practice. The study concluded that most of the criticisms leveled against these strategic tools are as a result of the misplaced role these tools are expected to play. Portfolio analysis, the study concluded is not to dictate or recommend strategic decision but to provide strategists with the data needed to making informed decision.

EP was defined in terms of curriculum and contents, teaching team, and university role. Drawing on the theory of planned behaviour, this study tests the direct and indirect effects of EP on entrepreneurial intentions using multiple regression analysis. The study shows that EP has direct significant influence on entrepreneurial intentions. The study also shows that EP significantly influence attitude towards entrepreneurship, subjective norms, and perceived behvavioural control, which in turn significantly influence entrepreneurial intentions. Generally, university role was the strongest predictor among the variables of EP, while perceived behavioural control was the strongest predictor among the antecedents of entrepreneurial intentions.

The few empirical studies that have been conducted on this population were focused on the demographic and cultural dimensions whose limitations at explaining and predicting consumer behaviour have been acknowledged by many scholars and researchers. Those studies also did not consider the moderating effect of socio-demographic factors which have been shown to improve the predictability of consumer behavior. This study, therefore, aimed at assessing the relationship between lifestyle and buying behavior among undergraduate students in universities in Cross River State, Nigeria. Lifestyle was measured on the activities, interests and opinion framework. A sample of 323 undergraduate students was drawn from the two universities in Cross River State, using a three-stage sampling technique. Multiple regress...

The development and limitations of the psychodynamic theory, trait theory, behavioural theory, humanistic theory and the socio-cognitive theory were analyzed. The paper looked at the relevance of these theories to buying behaviour of consumers and examined some empirical studies that have established linkage between personality and consumer behaviour and some that failed to. The paper concludes that the theories are relevant to an understanding of the complex behaviour of consumers, information which have been successfully applied in development of marketing strategies. The paper also conclude that the low correlation between personality and consumer behaviour recorded by some researchers is due mainly to their failure to approach their studies outside the context of psychology from where the concept of personality was borrowed and also the p...

Personality was defined in terms of the big five personality traits, agreeableness, extraversion, openness to experience, conscientiousness, and neuroticism. A sample of 323 undergraduate students was drawn from the two universities in Cross River State using a three-stage sampling technique. Multiple regression analysis was used in testing the hypotheses. The study shows that personality significantly influences buying behaviour and agreeableness was the strongest of the five predictor variables while neuroticism was the weakest. The study also reveals that socio-demographic variables have significant moderating effect on the influence of personality on buying behaviour.
