Introduction: over 50 years the United States of America government has enforced a criminal econo... more Introduction: over 50 years the United States of America government has enforced a criminal economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba; it also includes an aggression for the development of the educational system in the island, which is considered one of the achievements of the revolutionary process at international level. Objective: to argue about repercussion of the economic, commercial and financial blockade enforced by the United States of America in the Cuban High Medical Education. Material and Methodo: a thorough bibliographic search was made using key words: ¨economic blockade¨ and ¨medical education´; the report presented by Cuba to the United Nations against the economic, commercial and financial blockade and the newspaper articles was recovered and studied. Development: it was taken into consideration the repercussion of the blockade in the Cuban Education: the displacement through far markets which aid to the excessive payment of charter and the investment in the store of merchandise, scarcity of reagent, row materials, scholar equipment, complementary bibliography and didactic materials, auto motor stock affectation, scarcity of book and the academic interchange between both countries, brain robbery. It is also analyzes their effect in the high medical education (scarcity of medicaments, medical equipment, diagnosis means, medical instruments, spare parts, scientific interchange restriction and the limitation to obtain financial budget to research project and professional up grade) emphasis it is made in the humans resources formation in the odontology area. Conclusions: the economic, commercial and financial blockade of United States of America against Cuba has unfavorably reverberated in the Cuban high medical education.

The main function is to generate new knowledge.<br /> </span><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><strong>Objective</strong>: To evaluate the actions developed and the results achieved in the Research Department of the Faculty of Dentistry "Raúl González Sánchez" of the University of Medical Sciences of Havana, in the 2011–2015 period.<br /> </span><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><strong>Materials and Methods</strong>: A descriptive study of the actions performed and the results achieved was carried out in the Research Department at institutional level, in the 2011 – 2015 period. Institutional actions carried out in favor of research were studied, as well as the variables associated with scientific research projects and the publications made.<br /> </span><span style="color: #000000; font-family: verdana; font-size: small;"><strong>Results</strong>: Training workshops were held for the development of research projects and publications, as well as workshops for the approval of 129 new projects. Of the total number of projects, 25,4% belonged to the Periodontics department, 22,2% to Orthodontics, 18,3% to Prosthodontics, and 16,3% to Comprehensive General Dentistry. Therewas a total of 581 publications, and 175 were related to projects. The preferred place to publish were the peer-reviewed journals (52.4%); of which, 22,2% were published in foreign journals. Objetivo: diagnosticar el nivel de conocimiento sobre la búsqueda, recuperación y análisis de la información en los estudiantes de primer año. Métodos: se desarrolló un estudio descriptivo, transversal, en los meses febrero y marzo de 2014, estudiándose la variable: nivel de conocimiento sobre la búsqueda, recuperación y análisis de la información, para ello se aplicó un cuestionario a una muestra intencional de 87 de 261 estudiantes matriculados en el año. Objetivo : Disenar un programa de estudios para el uso de la plataforma virtual Moodle. Metodos: Se realizo un diagnostico de necesidades de aprendizaje aplicado a una muestra de profesores y se reviso la metodologia del curso Entornos Virtuales de Ensenanza Aprendizaje, dirigido por la Universidad Virtual de Salud de Cuba. Resultados: La organizacion interna del curso se estructuro en tres temas, con caracter semipresencial y duracion de 48 horas. Objective: characterize the bibliometric behavior of the scientific production at the School of Dentistry in the period 2011-2015. Methods: a descriptive bibliometric study was conducted. The study universe was composed of 696 papers published in the study period and included in the corresponding databases. The variables analyzed were publications per year, publication type, topic dealt with, place of publication, teaching category of the first author and productivity per author. The nociceptive trigeminal system is a component of the somatosensory system capable of distingui... more The nociceptive trigeminal system is a component of the somatosensory system capable of distinguishing four basic variables of stimuli causing tissue damage: quality, time course, location and intensity. A-delta and C fibers, which are related to nociception, are present in dental pulp. Several classifications of pain are used, based on various criteria: quality of the sensation, transmission velocity along fibers, body part where it is expressed, and location of the nociceptor. According to their evolution, pulpal conditions are classified into reversible pulpitis, transitional pulpitis, irreversible pulpitis and necrotic pulp. Pulpal pain has been classified according to the following variables: quality: sharp or continuous; cause: provoked or spontaneous; course: intermittent or continuous; location: limited to a region, radiating or referred; and intensity: mild, moderate or severe.
