A literature review indicates that this relationship has been previously noted and studied, and researchers agree that the emotional intelligence of the members of an organization affects the organization's intellectual capital. Based on this analysis, this relationship is examined in the Turkish business context. Data are collected from top managers, who can affect the intellectual capital oftheir businesses and who, as human beings, are emotional. Thus, in this study, the emotional intelligence of top managers and their opinions regarding the intellectual capital of their businesses are considered to be related, with interesting results. When all of the factors of emotional intelligence that are likely to affect opinions regarding intellectual capital are examined using a multivariate model, the effect of emotional intelligence is revealed. Primarily, three factors of the emotional intelligence-empathy and communication skill, self-awareness and sociability-affect the participants' opinions regarding the intellectual capital of their businesses. Univariate models are used to evaluate the effect of each emotional intelligence factor on the participants' opinions regarding the intellectual capitalof their businesses. Empathy and communication skills affect opinions about the quality of human capital. Self-awareness affects opinions about the organizational commitment of workers. Sociability can affect opinions about information technology and information sharing. Approach: This study tested a mediation model consisting of job satisfaction as the dependent variable, locus of control as the independent variable and work-family conflict as the mediator. Data were gathered from 159 single mother employees, aged 45 and below and having at least one child, using self-administered questionnaires. The data were analyzed using correlation and multiple regression analyses. Results: Results of correlation analysis revealed that locus of control was related to work-family conflict and job satisfaction and work-family conflict was related to job satisfaction. Results of a series of multiple regression analyses indicated that work-family conflict partially mediates the relationship between locus of control and job satisfaction. During the screening process of potential recruits, employers should take into consideration locus of control as one of the important dispositional characteristics of candidates. Employers should look into the possibility of designing training programmes to assist employees in taking more control of events in their work situations. Conclusion: Single mother employees who believe that they are in control of the events that happen in their lives seem to be more satisfied with their jobs and seem to experience less work-family conflict.

Barriers to entry are also important to provide a balanced full competition condition in markets. Generally, incumbent firms don’t want new rivals because new rivals usually mean decreases in profits provided that firms seek profit maximizing. However, some of the previous studies show that profit maximizing firms can find unprofitable to set up barriers to entry in two-sided markets. The aim of this study is to confirm these studies by conducting a research in a shopping mall in Istanbul. To this end, we prepared a survey and applied it in this area. We hope that the results are pioneering for further studies.

It leads to multiple consequences at both levels. Work-family conflict causes employees to develop negative attitudes toward work due to an unbalanced life between their job and family. Job satisfaction is one of these attitudes and workfamily conflict leads to unsatisfied individuals. On the organizational side, such conflict may result in lower organizational performance and success because of unsatisfied employees. In this context, manager support can serve as a beneficial resource for alleviating the influence of work-family conflict on employees. Therefore, the present study aimed to examine the impact of work-family conflict on employee satisfaction considering the mediating role of manager support. The study data was collected using questionnaires. The results of the study demonstrated that work-family conflict has an effect on job satisfaction and such effect was reduced by manager support.

Like other financial crises, it caused significant declines in consumer wealth. Although it started in US mortgage and state market, its effects are held all over the world. Generally, rich people have more ways to protect their assets than poor people do. So the negative effects of financial crisis (such as decreasing income) are lower for rich persons. One of the most important questions, which arose after the global financial crisis, asked if the burden of recession is felt by all people in the world or region, equally. The aim of this study is to reveal the effects of financial crisis on Turkish university students with different income levels when Turkish economy is collapsing. So we can learn if income distribution between students is deteriorated or not. To realize this aim, the survey which inc...
