This paper examines these two parameters in IJVs operating in South East Europe. A sample of Greek IJVs is examined, and conclusions on the above matters are drawn. The focus is on the perceptions of Greek entrepreneurs and executives in regard to the success of knowledge transfer to IJVs in which their company participates, their overall satisfaction from the transfer process, and its importance for their enterprise. Additionally, based on aspects from the social exchange theory, the perceived level of trust toward their foreign partner is explored in terms of the extent and the quality of communication among them and the managers’ willingness to work closely to achieve common goals and their shared vision. The empirical findings are discussed, and their importance for researchers and entrepreneurs is analyzed. Finally, topics for further research are proposed.

In addition, knowledge transfer has been determined as one of the key factors that lead to the creation of sustainable competitive advantage for firms and to the success of learning alliances. Furthermore, trust enhances the effectiveness of this process. The growing volume of published research in recent years has indubitably revealed the significant role of trust on knowledge transfer in International Business (IB) Systems and in particular in International Strategic Alliances (ISAs) and International Joint Ventures (IJVs). This paper consists of an in depth review of the most recent literature about the impact of trust on transfer of various types of knowledge in IB Systems with reference to the relevant theoretical models and the applications in the international context. The first section contains the theoretical background of...

This study investigates the impact of a CSR initiative, known as “The LAB Project”, implemented by the TITAN– Sharrcem Company, on the rural community of Hani I Elezit in Kosovo. The LAB project aims to support the establishment and operation of agricultural and food-related start-ups and, most importantly, to ensure their sustainability. The sample of the study consists of 174 area residents. This research examines local residents’ perceptions about a) the TITAN-Sharrcem operations in the area, b) the LAB project’s main contribution to the local community, c) the project’s overall performance, d) the profitability of the start-ups created by the project, and e) the project’s effect on the community’s quality of life. Overall, the results reveal that the project has set the foundation for the community’s sustainable development. To t...

Great numbers of enterprises worldwide form International Strategic Alliances (ISAs) and IJVs in order to expand internationally and gain global competitiveness. One of the most important factors that affect the success of IJVs is the notion of trust between alliance partners, as evidenced by the growing volume of published research on the subject. The objective of this paper is to present a number of propositions on the contextual factors that have an impact on trust at the initial stages of the formation of an IJV and constitutes the basis for future research where we plan to examine the importance of trust in International Joint Ventures (IJVs) that include at least one Greek business partner.

The increasing number of scientific publications worldwide has distinguished the concept of trust as one of the most important elements that affect the success of IJVs. The objective of this paper is to present a number of propositions on the contextual factors that have an impact on the development of trust at the later stages of IJV operations. The formation of international joint ventures (IJVs) is considered a significant strategy for achieving global competitiveness in many industries (Gulati et al., 2000; Muthusamy and White, 2006). An IJV is defined as a separate legal
