Yet, an explosion of online learning materials has overwhelmed learners, especially when trying to achieve their learning goals. In this scope, recommender systems are used to guide learners in their learning process by filtering out the available resources to best match their needs, i.e. to offer more personalized content and learning paths. Concurrently, process mining has emerged as a valuable tool for comprehending learner behavior during the learning journey. To synergize these disciplines and optimize learning outcomes, our paper introduces an ontology-based framework that aims to recommend an adaptive learning path, driven by a learner's learning objective, personalized to his learning style and enriched by the past learning experience of other learners extracted via process mining. The learning path considers pedagogical standards by employing Bloom's taxonomy within its structure. The framework establishes an Ontological Foundation, to model the Learner, Domain Knowledge, and Learning Path. Choosing Computer Science as a domain, we construct a knowledge base using synthesized data to underpin the framework. For past learning experience, we analyze Moodle log data from 2018 to 2022, encompassing 471 students in the Computer Science and

Additionally, it explores the parental interest to raise their awareness on internet use and threats, as well as investigating their interest in establishing household environment safety measures in their household and a secure internet system in order to protect their children. Design/methodology/approach -The study employed a mixed method approach where quantitative and qualitative data were collected (Creswell). Questionnaires were used to collect the quantitative data and focus groups were organized for the qualitative data collection. The study's target population consisted of parents in two major cities in Cyprus, Nicosia and Larnaca. Non probability sampling was used to distribute 400 questionnaires to parents. The response rate was 55 percent, since 220 completed questionnaires were returned. The focus groups were organized as soon as the results of the questionnaires were analyzed. Eight focus groups (four focus groups with parents and four focus groups with children) were organized. Findings -The results of the study are grouped in the following categories: internet uses, internet dangers and children, parents' awareness on internet dangers, parents' concerns, parents' experience with internet dangers and productive measures. Originality/value -The study provides practical and scientific implications related to raise parents' and students' awareness on internet safety, explaining the role of the various stakeholders involved.

The Television Vs Web 'competition' brings ahead several effects, especially when it comes to youngsters. The paper examines these effects and, through them, the differences in the information mechanisms (promoting and enhancing information gaining and opinions development) exploited by the two dominant mass media of the 21st century. The results indicate that the source of information (TV -Web) plays a minor role in the formation of critical arguments and highlight the importance to integrate the use of the two media.

Previous studies focused on the capacity of policy itself, and especially on the implementers to explain the level and outcomes of implementation. This paper turns the attention to the context in which implementation takes place and views implementation from an institutionalist perspective. Schools are seen as organisations within the broader educational system and therefore, the paper focuses on a specific case to explore implementation. This paper integrates the results of two studies looking at ICT implementation in the Cypriot centralised and bureaucratic educational system, and attempts to interpret them differently from previous studies. It is suggested that unless the system is transformed and modernised, the institutionalisation of innovations, such as ICT, faces the threat of failure.

In the context of language learning, the effectiveness of ICT utilisation for the development of online courses has gained many opponents. They question whether students in online sections can reach the same learning outcomes as their peers in respective face-toface sections. The current work is a theoretical framework that investigates the factors that should be taken into consideration in order for the online students of language courses to reach the same learning outcomes like students in the respective face-to-face sections. More specifically, the current research work is divided into two phases. Phase I presents an in-depth literature review on pedagogies of delivering courses in face-to-face vs. online mode of delivery and identifies the obstacles in the effective use of online language learning. Phase II is still in process. The authors intend to strengthen the current research through qualitative data with the involvement of students and lecturers.

The study employed a mixed-method research design developed in two phases which considered professional development (PD) for teachers from the combined perspectives of Adult Learning Theory and Desimone's PD features. The quantitative findings of the research suggest that teachers improved their lesson planning, teaching methods, teaching tools, classroom management, and cooperation after the PD. However, the qualitative findings suggest that teachers had many concerns regarding the current PD program; thus, two features are added to Desimone's framework especially if it is to be used in a country like the UAE.

The main purpose of the current research work is to examine the development and implementation of math activities designed to develop preschoolers' mathematical understanding; through the use of technology as a tool to prepare and deliver the exercises. In order to address the above, a case study design was applied. Qualitative data were collected through interviews with kindergarten teachers. Teachers used computer technology as a tool to prepare and deliver their math activities. Teachers' reported their experiences related to implementing computer technology for four months in the kindergarten classrooms. Specifically, they discussed various problems/barriers revealed throughout the implementation as well as students' reactions, math knowledge and skills developed through these activities

The study uses cloud computing, and specifically Google applications, to enable students and faculty to communicate and collaborate, aiming at the same time to develop a student-centered learning (SCL) environment, where students have an active role and take responsibility of their own learning. A case study approach was employed in three undergraduate courses using qualitative data through online activity observations as well as focus groups with the students and lecturer. To achieve the above, outcome and process evaluation were conducted. The primary conclusion is that Google applications facilitated the development of a SCL environment. Specifically, the SCL cloud environment enhanced students' motivation and responsibility towards learning, built student-teacher relationships, promoted active learning, and finally, achieved the development of critical thinking and problem solving skills.

In this case, mobile devices role as supporting tools is under investigation. Specifically, undergraduate college students appear to have time-management and organization problems regarding designing, and constructing the research process and developing their research reports. Hypothesis is made that if a SMS alert system remind students for deadlines and other organizational issues related to the research process, the time management and organization problems will be addressed.

How about transforming social networking to educational networking, through Web 2.0 tools integration within the teaching and learning process? Employing a case study approach, the paper examines students’ perceptions and experiences regarding the use of Google applications as learning tools in three university courses. The results revealed students’ experiences and perceptions in using Google applications for academic and social purposes, providing valuable information in designing the prototype of the new to the University of Nicosia “UNICloud” — a blended learning environment aiming to meet student expectations and support evolving pedagogical approaches.

The present study examines students' behavior during a collaborative assignment in an online learning environment in higher education. Data were collected by graduate students who were attending a course at a distance learning master degree program in Special Education. The developed group dynamics and students' beliefs about their role during the activity were "revealed" by their reactions to the discussion forum, their private e-mails to the instructor, their activity at the platform and their contribution on the assignment, for which the wiki tool was used. Results indicated that although students were at the same time in-service or pre-service teachers at primary and secondary education and they were expected to implement group work at their teaching, they had low self-efficacy beliefs in using it as students in online learning environment. Their major difficulties were related with their fear about possible negative consequences concerning their marks due to other members' behavior and the lack of experiences. Suggestions on how the group work and the collaborative assignment can be integrated more effectively in an online learning environment in higher education courses are discussed.
