The virus is a new strain of the β - Coronavirus (SARS - CoV - 2) with a single strand positive sense RNA, and a genome size of 29,890 kb that codes for 9744 amino acids. Not many mutations are depicted in the SARS - CoV - 2 genome, However, most of them are detec ted in the ORF8 region and the spike. The latter exhibits higher affinity with the Human ACE2 receptor than the SARS - CoV. Alignment of SARS - CoV - 2 genome with other Corona viruses shows a high similarity to the Bat - CoV, but this latter was not enough to con clude that the Bat is the origin of the Human SARS - CoV - 2. This review aimed to provide an overview of the viral genome structure and its origin .
Background: The recent emergence of a novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has caused serious public he... more Background: The recent emergence of a novel coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) has caused serious public health concerns due to its rapid dissemination worldwide. A total of 8,931 positive cases had been reported in Morocco by the 16th of June 2020. Methods: To better understand the SARS-CoV-2 pandemic in this North African country, we analyzed the complete genome sequences of the virus related to Morocco by constructing a phylogenetic tree and creating a variant network using the available Moroccan and other sequences in dedicated databases. Results: Phylogenetic and variant network analyses of SARS-CoV-2 strains from early patients with COVID-19 in Morocco showed multiple spatiotemporal introductions from Italy (ten), France (seven), Spain (one) and Portugal (one). This is consistent with the assumption that the early infections in Morocco were imported, mainly from Europe. Il s'agit d'une étude transversale visant à mettre le point sur les comportements alimentaires, le mode de vie et leur relation avec les facteurs de risques cardio-métaboliques de la population adulte âgée de 18 ans et plus de la ville de Nador et Oujda (en Maroc oriental), et leur voisinage rural. Méthodes : Nous avons appliqué l'approche STEPwise de l'OMS pour étudier les relations entre les facteurs socio-économiques, socio-démographiques et nutritionnelles associées à des analyses biochimiques, afin d'analyser les maladies cardio-métaboliques et leurs facteurs de risque. Given the infectious nature ofSARS-CoV-2, fast and accurate diagnosis tools are important to detect the virus. In this review, we discuss the different diagnostic tests that are currently being implemented in laboratories and provide a description of various COVID-19 kits. Areas covered: We summarize molecular techniques that target the viral load, serological methods used for SARS-CoV-2 specific antibodies detection as well as newly developed faster assays for the detection of SARS-COV 2 in various biological samples. Expert opinion: In the light of the widespread pandemic, the massive diagnosis of COVID-19, using various detection techniques, appears to be the most effective strategy for monitoring and containing its propagation.
