In Vietnam, this method was approached from many decades ago. The paper will present the results of the investigating mathematics teachers' opinions on the use of discovery learning in teaching geometry in junior schools of Vietnam in the case of instructing topic "trapezoid".

From field test of the model, we found that two remarkable utilities of TSEWG were: (1) to help students predict the answer of an exercise; (2) to help students discover strategies for solving the exercise. Therefore, teaching mathematics with TSEWG can improve the quality of mathematics education in secondary schools.

Based on how to present this equation in the textbook "Geometry 10" and types of task for students, we believe that some limitations happen to students when they solve problems related to the equation of a circle. This paper reports the investigation of 845 students from the Mekong Delta-Vietnam. The results show that our prediction is correct.

Its intrinsic complexity is very high. Many researchers around the world have pointed out difficulties and obstacles that students have encountered when studying it. To understand a concept and a theorem of calculus is not easy; therefore, when solving calculus problems students cannot avoid errors. Find out the errors of students in mathematics learning have been a problem that several of mathematics educators around the world interested in. In this paper, we report the answers to the following two research questions: (1) In solving calculus problems, what errors have 12 th grade-students committed? (2) What are the teachers' opinions about how often the errors of the students have occurred? The data collection was performed in high schools in Tan Chau town, An Giang province, Vietnam

Therefore, the use of mind maps in teaching has been used by many educators around the world; they showed that it much supports the teaching process of teachers and students' learning process. Also, with the mind map approach in teaching mathematics, we conducted experimental teaching in teaching the topics of straight line and circle equations Geometry 10 in high school mathematics program in Vietnam. By using mind maps in reviewing knowledge, in teaching new knowledge and in systematizing knowledge for two experimental classes, we found that the learning results of students in the two experimental classes were actually higher than those of the two control classes. From our experience gained through experimental teaching, we believe that teaching mathematics with the help of mind maps will be a teaching method that contributes to improving the effectiveness of mathematics education in schools. Brousseau in 1980. On the basis of this concept, we predicted students’ errors and verified by the investigation of 60 students who are studying in the “Long Phu” high school – Tam Binh District, Vinh Long Province. These results indicated that the rules of didactical contract could be reasons for students’ errors in solving mathematical problems. Article visualizations:

A GeoGebra lesson was conducted involving 43 high school students. The questionnaires were employed to collect the research data. Descriptive statistics were used to gauge students’ perceptions toward the software during a GeoGebra lesson. The findings showed that the students’ perceptions toward GeoGebra features for the basic construction of geometry, the transformation angle, and the functions and exporting of images with a mean of 3.87, 3.69, and 4.15. Students’ perceptions toward coordinates and equations were at a very easy level, with a mean of 4.34. The findings indicate that students have positive perceptions about the use of GeoGebra. Therefore, GeoGebra should be used as an alternative to promoting the use of technology in the teaching and learning of mathematics.

From the investigation, we found that students often committed ten different errors in solving problems on the above topic. The mathematics teachers should have positive attitude towards students’ errors because the error detection of students will offer teachers many benefits: (1) to recognize misunderstanding of their students; (2) to adjust their teaching; (3) to do action research to increase the effectiveness of their activities of teaching.

It includes different skills such as listening, reading , presenting, expressing mathemat ical ideas, and knowing how to use mathemat ical language to communicate, discuss interaction with other people. The problem is how to organize teaching to promote mathematical communicat ion. In 2004, Radford and Demers based on the theory of Zones of Pro ximal Develop ment [12] to develop a teaching strategy called the fourth strategy [9]. This teaching strategy has seven steps; it provides groups of the student with different activit ies to discuss, exchange, review their learn ing products. We have adopted this teaching strategy in a teaching situation about the concept of function in junior high school in Vietnam. Twelve students who participated in our study case worked in pairs. Th is teaching process focused on each group of two students reviewing products of another and basing on comments fro m other g roups to improve their products. Furthermore, our teaching situation puts students in front of the various representations of function and thus enhances the use of mathemat ical language and mathe matical co mmunication for students. The results of our study showed that the teaching strategy of Radford and Demers increased students' mathematical communicat ion. Lessons drawn fro m the study are that this strategy is really an effective teaching method if teachers assign open problems that stimulate the curiosities of students; in the classroom, they feel free and confident in discussion; if these conditions are met, students who learn in this approach will acquire and reinforce the knowledge as a result of a mathematical communication process.

Thus, it helps them to know the practical significance of mathematics in general and calculus in particular. In addition, they also recognize that mathematics is a unified whole, the subjects of mathematics are consistent and mutually supportive. For example, thanks to integration one can find the formulas for calculating the area and volume of shapes that students have learned in Geometry, and can calculate the area and volume of shapes that it is very hard to find by geometrical tools. With such an importance of integral concept, the question is that: what are students’ restrictions on the application and perception towards concepts “integral” students? This paper presents some results relating to the above two questions.

In Vietnam, this trend has been implemented in high schools for many years. To find out about the status of facilities and teaching related to using information technology (IT) of mathematics teachers in schools in Hau Giang province - Vietnam, we conducted a survey of 71 mathematics teachers by 5 - point Likert scale questionnaire. The survey contents were (1) Current status of facilities for teaching and applying IT; (2) The frequency of using IT in teaching high school mathematics; (3) The software used in teaching mathematics; (4) The learning attitude of students when teachers apply IT in teaching and learning; (5) Students' ability to absorb knowledge in lessons with the support of IT. The results showed that in some schools, facilities for using IT were inadequ...

Today, mathematics educators have used various scientific and technical achievements to improve the efficiency of mathematics instruction in schools. In keeping with that trend, we are particularly interested in information processing theory developed by the American psychologist Gaz. A. Miller in 1956. This theory holds that the process of human’s leaning goes through three types of memory: sensory memory, short-term memory and long-term memory. Based on this idea, we developed a phase –three teaching model and conducted the experiment on teaching concepts of vector in Geometry 10 with activating the above types of memory. This article describes the teaching process we performed and the results obtained from the experiment.

The question is: “Do the students prefer to select analogy as strategy for teaching mathematics?” The results of the investigation of 52 mathematics education students showed that the students paid little attention to applying analogy to teaching mathematics.

The survey on the perception of 40 students about vocational guidance was carried out in Nguyen Viet Dung High School in Can Tho City, Vietnam. Results show that students are very concerned about their future career; students have a proper perception of vocational guidance and recognize well factors which affect their career choice. The study results revealed that the students faced many difficulties and had errors sin using visual and symbolic representation.

With this trend, students find that mathematics is not an abstract subject far removed from reality. One of the pioneers in teaching mathematics to be associated with real-life is Hans Freudenthal Dutch mathematics educator. He developed the theory of Realistic Mathematics Education (RME) with the idea that teaching mathematics must start a realistic situation; today this theory has been widely applied not only in the Netherlands but also in many parts of the world. In order to approach RME into mathematics education in Vietnam, we developed the RME-based teaching model and conducted research with the teaching of cosine theorem Geometry 10 to verify its feasibility. The results showed that if the teacher used RME – based teaching, students could learn cosine theorem by abstracting and generalizing from a real situation; thereby, they found that mathematics is very close to life, cre...
