Active power control of the photovoltaic (PV) power generation system is a promising solution to ... more Active power control of the photovoltaic (PV) power generation system is a promising solution to regulate frequency fluctuation in a power system with high penetration of renewable energy. This paper proposes an autonomous active power control of a small-scale PV system for supporting the inertial response of synchronous generators and power-frequency control. In the proposed control approach, an effective grid frequency regulation scheme is realized using slow-and fast-frequency responses. A low-pass filter based frequency measurement is used for slow-frequency response, while direct frequency measurement is used for fast-frequency response. The designed dual droop characteristic-based control is shaped to achieve a smooth transition between slow-and fast-frequency responses. The performance of the proposed control approach is demonstrated for serious disturbance scenarios, i.e., considerable power-load imbalance and generation trip. In the powerload imbalance test scenario, the proposed control approach works properly within the normal frequency deviation region even when the frequency deviation exceeds that region occasionally. In the generation trip test, the frequency deviation is mitigated quickly, and the employed droop control is smoothly transferred from the slow-to fast-frequency responses.

One has to be able to see and sense a situation rather than be drawn into the reality depicted by formal historiography and national narratives. Departing from acute memories of conflict, enlisted for barricading identity, we can develop the capacity to contain an event and simultaneously progress towards a new beginning. I aim to question mapped boundaries through a biographical lens; to this end I observe onsite/insightfully the remains of village and its neighbour in northern Israel. The art of mapping debris can introduce new practices into the architecture of conflict.

The pressing challenge is to destabilize the neat division of architecture into separate bodies of knowledge and pose the architect’s mode of action on the threshold between the concrete and the universal. Architecture is a lens, an instrument one looks through to bring new perspectives into focus, enabling the transformation of experience from a magnified self-concentrated space to a wide horizon. Architecture narrates relations between spaces and examines its validity through signifying practices of design. Design for itself becomes the language of the current, of the immediate fashion. Architecture can fulfill peoples’ dreams and miraculously can provide them tools to invent new ones: Curiosity is the first motive to act.
