Luthiery as a pedag og ic tool in the mus icalization process
and cog nitive development of s tudents from pres chools
and elementary s chools and a lso to citizens in g eneral. For
this s tudy two environments were observed: 1) the
w orks hops for the cons truction of “ pandeiros” (Brazilian
tambourines) and body percuss ion of a public elementary
school in the State of Goias , that occurred as an initiative
of the PIBID (Prog rama Institucional de Bols as de
Iniciação à Docência); 2) the workshops for the
construction of drums and percuss ion instruments and
singing of a cultural project of the Neig hborhood
As sociation of Jardim Novo Mundo, eas t reg ion of
Goiânia. For the analys is of data, an action res earch with a
qualitative approach was chos en. Interviews with open
and clos ed ques tions were made to evaluate the
perception of the students reg arding the act of building
the mus ical ins truments and also their g ene ral relation to
music. With the objective of his torically relating the
Luthiery with pedag og ic methods and their teaching -
learning proces s es , a bibliog raphy was consolidated
reg arding methodolog ies for teaching mus ic with a focus
on the construction of mus ical instruments , as well as the
integ ral development of the human being with Gainza,
Rey, Saviani and Paulo Freire as main references. For this
purpos e, a s ynthes is of the pedag og ic and educational
theories throug h the construction of musical instruments
was pursued. Another objective was the consolidation of
materials related to the cog nitive development in the
pedag og ic practice, both as theory and practice, for the
enrichment of the dis cuss ion of educational practices
permeated by mus ic throug h the lu thiery, both in specific
areas (such as music and luthiery dis ciplines thems elves ) as
well as in cros s -dis cipline areas (like mathematics, history
and others ). Thus, this paper has the objective of showing
the pedag og ical poss ibilities and contributions of the
luthiery for the area of musical education.
