Recent social and technological developments, as well as events such as the COVID-19 pandemic or conflicts in many parts of the world, have led to essential changes in the way education processes are carried out. In addition, they have made it possible to generate, collect and store large amounts of data related to these processes, data that can hide useful information for decisions that, in the medium or long term, can lead to a significant increase in the quality of education. Uncovering this information is the subject of Educational Data Mining. To understand the state-of-the-art reflected by recent developments, trends, theories, methodologies, and applications in this field, in the European Union, we considered it appropriate to conduct a systematic and critical literature review. Our paper aims to identify, analyze, and synthesize relevant information from these articles, both to build a foundation for further studies and to identify gaps or unexplored issues that can be addressed in future research. The analysis is based on research identified in three international databases recognized for content quality: Scopus, Science direct, and IEEEXplore.

Industrial development, extensive use of land for agriculture and for urban expansion, accumulated pollution are trends that aggravate the global crisis, making the respite difficult. New approaches are needed to face these challenges. The paper presents a case study included in a LIFE+ Project (ECOREG) carried out in Suceava County, in the 2009-2011 period. It established a symbiotic link among various generators of demolition and construction waste in Suceava County and the TERMICA power plant. Instead of using virgin soil, the reconstruction of the fly ash landfill of the power plant was carried out using demolition waste with no economic value that would otherwise be sent to the municipal landfill. The economic, environmental and social benefits are quantified and the contribution to the waste management problem in Romania, analysed. Waiting for more innovative approaches for the use of fly ash or demolition waste, the solution presented may be straightforwardly applied in many polluted areas across Romania.

Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a recent entry in the economy of modern enterprise both ... more Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is a recent entry in the economy of modern enterprise both at global level and for Romanian companies. CSR adds a new dimension to the enterprise's performance in the social fields, contributing to the sustainable development of economic entities. CSR components are included in an international standard-ISO 26000. The paper presents authors' experience in implementing this standard. Possible steps of a roadmap for CSR implementation: a. Top management endorsement and nomination of a complex CSR team b. Developing formal company CSR policy documents c. Selecting and engaging the company's stakeholders as early as possible. d. Building a Project Advisory Board-useful in every modern managerial tool application should guide the progress toward CSR. e. An external facilitator would help solve internal conflicts. f. An audit of what CSR represents for the Company, what are the CSR options, e.g., promoting a "green company" profile, what would be the best impact of philanthropy and community volunteering, etc. g. Generate a CSR portfolio of actions, setting deadlines, responsibilities and allocatingresources, establishing communication, reporting, monitoring and corrective procedures h. upgrading the sustainable enterprise strategy. The authors experience led to the following conclusions: 1. Critical relevance of top management involvement 2. Stakeholders contacted as soon as possible in the process 3. The Project Advisory Board legitimates the actions taken under the mainframe of CSR 4. Aligning CSR polices to every other policy in the Company and make a system of coherent documents fromISO9001, 14001, 18001, and 26000 that should work in a holistic manner.Focal company operates in municipal services having constant contact with all stakeholders. The paper substantiates a previous work that analysed modern managerial tools.

The educational system intensively uses ICT devices and programs, as their use can change the perspective on the educational policy. In Romania, the psycho-pedagogical studies and experiments contributed to the improvement of the therapeutic progress of the persons with special educational needs. This chapter aims to analyze the way in which serious games can be used in education and see how they can become useful tools in speech therapy. The conclusion of this chapter is that, like many other computer applications, serious games can be tools that complement, often with remarkable results, the therapy.

However, it requires a significant time commitment of 20 to 40 hours per week, which can be expensive for families who may not be able to afford the treatment. ABA therapists emphasize the importance of practicing therapeutic techniques in the child's natural environment to maintain their effectiveness. Therefore, there is a need to supplement therapy in the home environment where the children spend most of their time. If a parent or caregiver assumes the role of co-therapist and practices with the child, it can result in faster skills improvement. However, many parents lack knowledge about therapeutic protocols. To address this gap, we conducted research and developed educational software for therapeutic interventions for Romanian children diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a home-based setting. We followed the Double Diamond Model, emphasizing the core principle of Human-Centered Design (HCD) methodology, to design the software with a focus on the special needs of end-users. This involved developing proto-personas, wireframes, and interactive prototypes, exploring the latest technologies, and incorporating feedback from experienced ABA therapists. Based on these inputs, we developed the Autism Assistant platform, which includes a mobile application built with Unity and a web application developed with React and Ruby on Rails. The platform underwent evaluation using the Quantitative Evaluation Framework (QEF) based on ISO 9126, and it was considered suitable as educational software for special education. INDEX TERMS Autism, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), human-centered design (HCD), human-centered computing, assistive technologies, applied behavior analysis (ABA), mobile application, web sites, educational technology.

We present the results of a meta-analysis of nine scientific papers published in the ACM DL and IEEE Xplore databases. Our findings show that research on human-drone swarm interaction shows a disproportionate interest in hand gestures compared to other input modalities for drone swarm control. Furthermore, all articles reviewed exclusively explored gestures and the size of the swarm used in the studies was limited, with a median of 3.0 and an average of 3.8 drones per study. We compiled an inventory of interaction modalities, recognition techniques, and application types from the scientific literature, which is presented in this paper. On the basis of our findings, we propose four areas for future research that can guide scientific investigations and practical developments in this field.

The Plan Up project seeks to monitor this area. Each EU member must implement its own plan (NECP) structured on 5 main dimensions: energy security, decarbonization, energy efficiency, internal energy market, research-innovation-competitiveness. Romania is committed to reducing CO2 emissions by over 43%, to increasing energy efficiency by over 37% and to promote renewable energy to reach approx. 28% of the portfolio (97% for the rail transport sector). The impact of COVID-19 must be immediately included in the NECP and seen as an opportunity and the NECP, adapted accordingly. The paper presents this Project and the potential Romanian contribution in the Transport Sector, a sector currently in a massive reorientation (electric cars, encouraging public transport, anti-Diesel offensive, etc.) and the most severely affected by COVID-19. The vast Romanian exper...

Web server access log files are text files containing important data about server activities, cli... more Web server access log files are text files containing important data about server activities, client requests addressed to a server, server responses, etc. Large-scale analysis of these data can contribute to various improvements in different areas of interest. The main problem lies in storing these files in their raw form, over long time, to allow analysis processes to be run at any time enabling information to be extracted as foundation for high quality decisions. Our research focuses on offering an economical, secure, and high-performance solution for the storage of large amount of raw log files. Proposed system implements a Data Lake (DL) architecture in cloud using Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 (ADLS Gen2) for extract-loadtransform (ELT) pipelines. This architecture allows large volumes of data to be stored in their raw form. Afterwards they can be subjected to transformation and advanced analysis processes without the need of a structured writing scheme. The main contribution of this paper is to provide a solution that is affordable and more accessible to perform web server access log data ingestion, storage and transformation over the newest technology, Data Lake. As derivative contribution, we proposed the use of Azure Blob Trigger Function to implement the algorithm of transforming log files into parquet files leading to 90% reduction in storage space compared to their original size. That means much lower storage costs than if they had been stored as log files. A hierarchical data storage model has also been proposed for shared access to data over different layers in the DL architecture, on top of which Data Lifecycle Management (DLM) rules have been proposed for storage cost efficiency. We proposed ingesting log files into a Data Lake deployed in cloud due to ease of deployment and low storage costs. The aim is to maintain this data in the long term, to be used in future advanced analytics processes by cross-referencing with other organizational or external data. That could bring important benefits. While the proposed solution is explicitly based on ADLS Gen2, it represents an important benchmark in approaching a cloud DL solution offered by any other vendor. INDEX TERMS Cloud data lake, ADLS Gen2, data lake architecture, web server access log data, Azure function Blob trigger.

In such a market there are some factors which influence the growing of the complexity of customer relationships. Some of these factors are: the compression of the marketing cycle times, the increasing of marketing costs, and the large amount of new products offering and the existence of niche competitors. The companies must react quickly to the challenges of these factors, reaction which consists in the right offer to the right person at the right time trough the right channel.CRM involves new ways of interacting with the customers which promises higher returns on investments for businesses by enhancing customer-oriented processes such as sales, marketing, and customer service. Data mining-techniques for automate detecting of relevant patterns in databases-helps companies build personal and profitable customer relationships by identifying and anticipating the needs of customers throughout the customer lifecycle. Keywords-Data mining applications, customer relationship management, knowledge discovery in databases. I.

Since data dimensionality has major implications on the performance of the algorithms used, one of the data pre-processing operations refers to reducing the number of features. One way to do that is feature selection based on their relevance and redundancy analysis. This paper presents a feature selection method which is applied on data provided by TERAPERS-a computer-based speech therapy system for Romanian children suffering of dyslalia.

Apache Hadoop is a free framework, widely used thanks to the Hadoop Distributed Files System (HDFS) and its ability to relate to other data processing and analysis components such as MapReduce for processing data, Spark-in-memory Data Processing, Apache Drill-SQL on Hadoop, and many other. In this paper, we analyze the Hadoop framework implementation making a comparative study between Single-node and Multi-node cluster on Hadoop. We will explain in detail the two layers at the base of the Hadoop architecture: HDFS Layer with its deamons NameNode, Secondary NameNode, DataNodes and MapReuce Layer with JobTrackers, TaskTrackers daemons. This work is part of a complex one aiming to perform data processing in Data Lake structures.
