Character is the values that are distinctive-good (know the value of goodness, want to do good, r... more Character is the values that are distinctive-good (know the value of goodness, want to do good, real good life, to the environment) are imprinted in and can be applied in behavior. Child character education is a form of guidance and development of potential children or learners to be well directed and able to be embedded into a person who has a good behavior in accordance with the values of morality and diversity. Therefore, character education for early childhood will color her personal development as a whole. With character education is expected to be able to create generations of good personality and uphold the principles of virtue and truth in every step of life. Problem formulation That is, a) what is the meaning of early childhood ?, b) what are the basic characteristics of early childhood ?, c) what are the character development strategies in early childhood ?. The purpose of writing this article is, a) to find out what early childhood understanding, b) to know what the basic character of early childhood, and c) to know what strategies are used to develop the character in early childhood. Strategies that can be used to develop the character of early childhood is through education. Education is the backbone of the nation's character building strategy. This is because in the macro context, the organization of character education covers the overall planning, organizing, implementing and quality control activities involving all the main units within the national education stakeholders.
