As complex challenges continue to hamper the rapid development of Small and Medium sized Enterpri... more As complex challenges continue to hamper the rapid development of Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SME), it is important that these challenges are identified and mitigated. The major issue identified is shortage of debt financing. The difficulties that SMEs experience stem from several sources. The financial institutions hardly provide any financial products and services for SMEs. The lack of appropriate financing mechanisms emanates from a variety of reasons, such as regulatory rigidities, gaps in the legal framework, cost of credit and lack of trust between financial institutions and SMEs'. The difficulty in obtaining debt financing by SMEs' is compounded by the lack of transparency in the socioeconomic and business environment. This paper presents the findings of an empirical assessment on SMEs, it investigated on how risk associated with access to finance, inflation, customer services, rain failure, fertilizer and veterinary services affect the Agro processing, Agriculture, Trade and Textile industries and the perceptions of financial institutions on providing financing to SMEs. The results indicated that access to finance and inflation are the most critical risks and cut across all industries. A greater proportion of the financial institutions (68.75%) attributed default in loan repayment and misapplications of loans by SMEs as reasons for the SMEs not attracting loans from banks. The rest (31.25%) said mismanagement and lack of managerial skills by SMEs. These findings provide an important baseline data for further research and industry collaborations exploring education with debt financing potentials for SMEs by financial institutions.

Unemployment Rate and Exchange Rate are perhaps the two most important challenges that face the G... more Unemployment Rate and Exchange Rate are perhaps the two most important challenges that face the Ghanaian economy in recent time. This study seeks to examine the effect of the Exchange Rate and Unemployment Rate on the Real Gross Domestic Product Growth Rate in Ghana. The study used secondary data collected from World Bank, International Labour Organization and International Monetary Fund covering the period 1999-2018. Real Exchange Rate and Unemployment Rate were the independent variables whilst Real Gross Domestic Product Growth Rate was the dependent variable. The findings of the study were arrived at using the quantitative research method. The extent and nature of relationship between the various variables under study were identified using Pearson correlation, regression and hypotheses. The study found out that Unemployment Rate exhibited insignificant negative relationship towards Real Gross Domestic Product Growth Rate, while Real Exchange Rate was positive and also insignificant relationship on Real Gross Domestic Product Growth Rate. Based on the linearity of the multiple linear regression model, the independent variables contribute to 15.0% of the overall LN_GDP. The study then concludes that based on the effect of Exchange Rate and Unemployment Rate on RGDPGR in the findings, Government and other stakeholders should take steps such as creating new local industries and factories, and invest in existing ones to increase domestic produce which will in turn decrease Unemployment Rate and increase Exchange Rate.

The purpose of this study was to identify factors that influence students' performance in the... more The purpose of this study was to identify factors that influence students' performance in the Faculty of Science and Technology, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia (UKM). Respondents in this study consisted of 10 students with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) in each school. The level of importance of each criterion was determined using the Analytic Hierarchy Process (AHP). The findings show that the most influential criteria for determining students' performance are academic and personal factors. Additionally, the most dominants sub-criteria are instructor's mastery of the subject, instructor's presentations, health problems, family relationships, and learning methods.

However, a statistically significant or non-significant test result without incorporating the biological relevance cannot be a valid scientific criterion for concluding a positive or negative effect of the underlying compound (Hauschke et al., 1997). The classification of an experiment as being negative or positive should be based also on the magnitude of the responses in the positive control. We address the problem of determining the maximum safe dose by incorporating a biologically meaningful threshold value, which is expressed as a fraction of the difference between positive and vehicle control.

Ghana, just like other countries in sub-Saharan Africa, has implemented policies to help address gender disparity in education. This study sought to assess factors that limit female enrolment and performance despite policies and programmes put in place to solve gender disparity in education. Using a quantitative research approach, questionnaires were administered to 1,070 students and 170 teachers. Secondary data on enrolment and performance were also acquired from the Kassena-Nankana East Municipal office of the Ghana Education Service. The study revealed that though enrolment in senior high schools increased for both boys and girls from 2010/2011 to 2019/2020 academic years, girls still lagged behind boys in enrolment and performed inversely in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination.
