This study tests the following major hypothesis: The higher the level of socioeconomic development, the more extensive the KAP of family planning will be among the states of India. The study applies correlation and multiple regression analysis of data from the National Family Health Survey (NFHS}, India: 1998-1999 using level of development to predict three major categories (KAP) of family planning. The findings support the hypothesis in large measure, revealing that the overall socioeconomic development is di rectly related to the KAP of family planning among the states of India.

The region has peculiar dynamics, an extensive border area, and adverse social indicators. The methodology included documental and financial analysis, participatory observation, interviews with heads of various Federal Ministries and State and Municipal health secretaries from the BLA; characterization of geographic situations in the BLA; and field studies in 15 municipalities. Institutional consolidation of health policy proved to be low in the Amazon during the study period, due to structural, institutional, and political difficulties. The identification of six geographic situations was useful for systematizing land use differences with repercussions on health, and which should be considered when implementing public policies. There is a certain gap between Federal actions and territorial dynamics,...

health policy. ... more Regions and health care networks are strategies recently adopted in the Brazilian
health policy. Leading questions: what conceptions of region and health networks inform the
policy, how are they combined, at what times and with what objectives? The aim of this study is to
analyze the prospects for the region and networks adopted in health policy in the period of 2001-
2011. We used the reference of human geography (critical geography) and public policies analysis
(historical institutionalism), bibliographic research, documentary research and secondary data.
Were defined three induction phases apart from these strategies, guided by different theoretical
and political views and national and international interests.
