
Marguerite Berger
Marguerite (Meg) Berger is currently Senior Fellow with Iris Group International. She has over 30 years of experience in economic development in the Americas and Asia, focusing on women’s economic empowerment, micro and small enterprise development, access to finance and public financial management. Prior to joining Vital Voices Global Partnership, Meg served in various capacities at the Inter-American Development Bank. She began her career there as Advisor for Women in Development and led the creation of the Women in Development Unit as its first chief. She was also Chief of the Bank’s Microenterprise Unit and Grants and Co-financing Management Unit and was seconded to the Brazilian small business agency, Sebrae, as an advisor to the President. She was an economist at the International Center for Research on Women, and consulted for the US Small Business Administration, UNCDF, IFAD, USAID and the World Bank. Meg is a Fulbright Scholar with a doctorate in Economics from the American University. She has authored numerous books, articles and evaluations, including An Inside View of Latin American Microfinance (with Goldmark and Miller) and Women’s Ventures (with Mayra Buvinic).
