Wood is among the most efficient sources of bioenergy in terms of quantity of energy released by unit of carbon emitted compared with other energy crops. Research, development and innovation create new opportunities for the process of gathering and transforming the raw material into energy. Innovation should be targeted to deliver sustainability, biodiversity and economic growth. Romanian has a high potential and can develop energy forestry in order to reduce CO2 emissions and ensure an alternative energy solution and an energy reserve. This paper aims to analize the challenges and opportunities the biomass energy industry creates in the context of climate change mitigation which must be seen from an entrepreneurial perspective in Romania.

This paper aims to address Romania's competitiveness in the context of global change mitigation by analyzing the counties competitiveness and eco-innovation. The efficiency-driven stage of development, which Romania is part of require specific regulatory measure in order to achieve sustainable development and competitive advantage. Analyzing the eco-innovation local needs by focusing on the SME can be seen as a solution, as they are creative in order to compensate for the lack of funding in research, development and innovation (like cluster research which is beneficial for sharing the risk and cost involved in research activities).

Managing knowledge and intellectual capital create new opportunities and a competitive advantage. The fortunes and values of organizations, industry sectors and regions can increase or decrease depending on how well they create, capture, and leverage their local knowledge. The goal of the paper is to exhibit the concept of intellectual capital (IC) from a country and regional perspective and define intangible assets as knowledge that can be converted into competitive advantage, value or profit. In the recent years, most of the measurement methods designed to measure IC apply at corporate level. Some efforts are being made to present the intellectual capital concept from an industry or regional perspective.

It is a key solution for avoiding dissipation of the EU research funds and for focusing the research, innovation, human and financial resources on those innovative sectors which are high performing, strategic from a socio-economical perspective, eco-friendly and attractive for investors. Given the novelty and complexity of this concept consideration should be given to the concept clarification, for the use of policy makers and for its effective implementation in the wood processing industry with its R&D and innovation background and economic context.

This paper aims to identify the critical success factors and best practices of competitive intelligence through analyzing the experiences of several organizations. The paper starts by defining what is knowledge can bring, and follows on by over viewing the competitive intelligence used in order to identifying best practices. The second part is concerned with presenting a set of examples that underline certain aspects of CI. The analysis examined the decisions pursued, IT support used, results achieved, and the perceived critical success factors. This analysis allowed the proposal of several ‘beat practices’ for successful competitive intelligence, which are presented and discussed.

The emergence of climate change and climate change adaptation is a political and financial issue for development stressed in the Kyoto Protocol United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change and European Union Emissions Trading System EU ETS. In this study I examine the use of wood products as a source to reduce CO2 and increase carbon sinks. Wood and wood products can be seen as potential solutions to gain added ovement and poverty alleviation must be understood against the background of crisis.
