Moreover, some taxonomic information on Cryptocephalinae is added: Pachybrachis glycyrrhizae (Olivier, 1808) = Pachybrachis pygidialis L. Medvedev, 2012 syn. nov., and Cryptocephalus rugicollis virgatus Suffrian, 1847 = Cryptocephalus rugi-collis ottomana Medvedev, 2015 syn. nov.. The generic type species of the tribe Pachybrachini from the Palaearctic and Afrotropical Region ... more The generic type species of the tribe Pachybrachini from the Palaearctic and Afrotropical Region are reexamined. Thelyterotarsus WEISE and Falsopachybrachys PIC are synonymised with Acolastus GERSTÄCKER. Lectotypes are designated for Acolastus simonsi BALY, A. nigroplagiatus JACOBY and Thelyterotarsus fausti WEISE. The following new synonymy is recognised: A. callosus GERSTÄCKER (= A. simonsi BALY); A. pictus SUFFRIAN (= A. nigroplagiatus JACOBY); A. senegalensis BRYANT (= Falsopachybrachys diversepubescens PIC); A. senegalensis BRYANT (=A. inaequalis PIC). Other species of Acolastus from the Palaearctic region were studied. A map of collection localities and a catalogue of the genus Acolastus is provided. The Acolastus callosus species-group is defined to include the following species: A. callosus GERSTÄCKER, A. pictus SUFFRIAN, A. personatus sp. nov., A. sexstriatus sp. nov., A. pardalis sp. nov., A. justi sp. nov and A. beirensis sp. nov. A map of collection localities and a key to species is provided for the A. callosus species-group.

Type specimens of the Cryptocephalus species described from the Cape Peninsula, South Africa by F... more Type specimens of the Cryptocephalus species described from the Cape Peninsula, South Africa by Fabricius (1798) and Thunberg (1787, 1827) were examined. The following nomenclatorial changes are proposed: Cryptocephalus pustulatus Fabricius, 1798 = C. repandus Thunberg, 1827 syn. nov.; Cryptocephalus sexguttatus Fabricius, 1798 = C. sexguttatus Thunberg, 1827 syn. nov.; Cryptocephalus trifurcatus Thunberg, 1827 = C. laciniatus Suffrian, 1857 syn. nov.; Cryptocephalus sinuatus Thunberg, 1827 = C. meridionalis Clavareau, 1913 syn. nov. = C. capensis Jacoby, 1904 syn. nov.; Cryptocephalus octopustulatus Thunberg, 1787 = C. octopunctatus Olivier, 1808 syn. nov. = C. capensis Harold, 1872 syn. nov.; Cryptocephalus crux Thunberg, 1827 = C. denticulatus Suffrian, 1857 syn. nov. Lectotypes are designated for Cryptocephalus sinuatus Thunberg, 1827 and C. laciniatus Suffrian, 1857. The spelling of Cryptocephalus pustulatus is fixed. All the species are redescribed, photographed and illustrated. The primary homonym Cryptocephalus crux Gebler, 1848 is replaced by its oldest available synonym C. manchuricus Gressit & Kimoto, 1961. Two new species of Acolastus s. str. from the Arabian Peninsula are described, i.e. A. loebli n. ... more Two new species of Acolastus s. str. from the Arabian Peninsula are described, i.e. A. loebli n. sp. from Oman, and A. callosomarginatus n. sp. from Yemen. The new species are similar to A. substriatus (Medvedev, 1996) and A. furthi (Lopatin, 1994). The new species are illustrated and an updated key to the Acolastus species from the Arabian Peninsula is provided. New records for Acolastus spp. from the Arabian Peninsula are added. Acolastus latifrons Lopatin & Nesterova, 2007 is recorded for the first time from Oman. Zusammenfassung Zwei neue Arten der Gattung Acolastus s. str. von der Arabischen Halbinsel werden beschrieben, A. loebli n. sp. aus dem Oman und A. calloso-marginatus n. sp. aus dem Jemen. Beide Arten ähneln A. substriatus (Medvedev, 1996) und A. furthi (Lopatin, 1994).
