Adult male wistar rats were randomly assigned to five groups: RT; exposure to chronic mild stress (CS); exposure to chronic mild stress followed by running training, (CS + RT), (CS + Recovery); control group. Findings indicated that the lowest expression of GFAP, number of dark neurons and corticosterone level, the highest thickness of CA1, DG, BDNF and TrKB and spatial memory performance were observed in the RT group. This study aimed to investigate the effect of two weeks of vitamin D3 supplementation on some ind... more This study aimed to investigate the effect of two weeks of vitamin D3 supplementation on some indices of Delayed Onset of Muscle Soreness (DOMS) after eccentric exercise. Method and Materials: In this semi experimental study, 20 nonathletic male collegiate students (19.75±1.29 years) participated in the study voluntarily and were divided randomly into two groups of experimental (n=11) and placebo (n=9). The experimental group consumed vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) containing 50000 IU while the placebo group took apparently similar capsules containing starch like, two capsules for two weeks. To induce DOMS, participants performed a step protocol that included four sets (5 minutes for each set), with a 1-minute of rest interval between each set using a 46 cm-step. Range of Motion (ROM) of low extremity joints and circumferences, and Visual Analog Scale (VAS were measured before, immediately after (Time 0), and 24 hours (Time 1) and 48 hours (Time 2) after eccentric exercises. Findings: This study showed that thigh Thigh circumference increased following eccentric exercise in the placebo group, while it did not change significantly in the experimental group (p>0.05). There was no significant difference between the two study groups regarding other variables (P>0.05). Vitamin D3 supplementation with the dosage and duration used in the present study reduced the limited symptoms of DOMS. Future studies of longer duration or higher dosage of vitamin D supplementation are recommended. Conclusions: According to the finding of this study, vitamin D3 supplementation could not reduce the limited symptoms significantly. However, future studies are suggested to evaluate the effect of higher dose or longer duration of vitamin D supplementation on DOMS

Safety and immunogenicity of an inactivated eastern equine encephalitis virus vaccine

BACKGROUND Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV) is a mosquito borne alphavirus spread primari... more BACKGROUND Eastern equine encephalitis virus (EEEV) is a mosquito borne alphavirus spread primarily in Atlantic and Gulf Coast regions of the United States. EEEV is the causative agent of a devastating meningoencephalitis syndrome, with approximately 30% mortality and significant morbidity. There is no licensed human vaccine against EEEV. An inactivated EEEV vaccine has been offered under investigational new drug (IND) protocols at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) since 1976. METHODS Healthy at-risk laboratory personnel received inactivated PE-6 strain EEEV (TSI-GSD 104) vaccine under two separate IND protocols. Protocol FY 99-11 (2002-2008) had a primary series consisting of doses on day 0, 7, and 28. Protocol FY 06-31 (2008-2016) utilized a primary series with doses on day 0 and 28, and month 6. Participants with an inadequate immune response, plaque reduction neutralization test with 80% cut-off (PRNT80) titer < 40, received booster vaccination. Volunteers with prior EEEV vaccination were eligible to enroll for booster doses based on annual titer evaluation. RESULTS The FY06-31 dosing schema resulted in significantly greater post-primary series immune response (PRNT80 ≥ 40) rates (84% vs 54%) and geometric mean titers (184.1 vs 39.4). The FY 06-31 dosing schema also resulted in significantly greater cumulative annual immune response rates from 1 to up to 7 years post vaccination (75% vs 59%) and geometric mean of titers (60.1 vs 43.0). The majority of probably or definitely related adverse events were mild and local; there were no probably or definitely related serious adverse events. CONCLUSIONS Inactivated PE-6 EEEV vaccine is safe and immunogenic in at-risk laboratory personnel. A prolonged primary series, with month 6 dose, significantly improved vaccine immunogenicity both post-primary series and longitudinally on annual titers. Despite decades of safe use under IND, full licensure is not planned due to manufacturing constraints, and ongoing development of alternatives.

Th e subjects performed twice on a treadmill with speed of 5 km p er hour with the 400 energy cost calories. Blood sa mples were collected for determination of ghrelin in the same conditions and controlling affecting environmental factors on rest and immediately after two sessions running on a tre admill with a one-week interval. The results showed that blood ghrelin increased significantly. According to the r esearch findings, blood ghrelin levels increased in a running with speed of 5 km per hour on a treadmill with 400 ener gy cost calories.

In group 1, step-back technique with conventional stainless steel K-files was used, and in group 2, instrumentation was performed using rotary Ni-Ti Hero642. Samples in control group did not receive cleaning or shaping after access cavity preparation. After obturating each canal, tip of the spreader was locked within canal. Thus, the aim of the present study was evaluating the effect of aerobic training of parents before pregnancy on the expression of some of the main genes in breast cancer in breast tissue of their offspring. Method: Eighteen female and 6 male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into two exercise training and control group. After training each male mated with 2 females. Parental aerobic training with moderate intensity was performed running on treadmill for 4 weeks, 5 sessions per week. Finally Pairs 4, 5, and 6 of adult breast tissues was performed to evaluate the expression of BRCA1, TP53, ER-α, IGF-1 and IGF-1R. Results: We found that prepregnancy moderate aerobic training of mother, especially along with father caused a significant increase in the mRNA of the BRCA1, P53 and ER-α genes, and a significant reduction in IGF-1 and IGF-1R. Conclusion: Exercise with moderate intensity before mating significantly affected the expression of BRCA1, P53, IGF-1, IGF-1R and ER-α genes. So we suggest that parents regular exercise before pregnancy can reduce the risk of breast cancer in children.

Comparison of stress between endodontists, postgraduate and undergraduate students during endodontic therapy

Background and Aim: Endodontic therapy is considered one of the most stressful dental treatments.... more Background and Aim: Endodontic therapy is considered one of the most stressful dental treatments. This study was designed with the aim of comparing stress levels during different stages of endodontic treatment among endodontic professionals, under-and postgraduate students. Materials and Methods: In this ex-post facto investigation, three groups including professional endodontists (n=36), undergraduate (n=41) and postgraduate dental students (n=47) were involved by convenience sampling. A 48-item questionnaire, with five-point scales (very little to very much), was prepared for this study based on interview. The questionnaire was filled out by participants in a self report method. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance and Scheffe's post-hoc tests. Results: The stress among undergraduate dental students in all fields was more than those of professionals and postgraduate dental students, except for the stress of local anesthetic injection with lidocaine. Stress levels of all three groups were significantly different in inferior alveolar block injections with lidocaine, with professionals having more stress than under-and postgraduate dental students. The most stressful aspect of endodontic treatment, among the three groups was canal obturation, followed by obturation of the molar canals, preparing molar access cavities in special conditions and taking the final radiographs. The suggested methods offered for occupational stress reduction, was experience and knowledge, adequate knowledge, concentration and self confidence, and trust in God, respectively. Conclusion: The stress among undergraduate dental students in all fields was more than that in professionals and pos graduate dental students, except for the stress of local anesthetic injections with lidocaine.

Method and Materials: In this semi experimental study, 20 nonathletic male collegiate students (19.75±1.29 years) participated in the study voluntarily and were divided randomly into two groups of experimental (n=11) and placebo (n=9). The experimental group consumed vitamin D3 (Cholecalciferol) containing 50000 IU while the placebo group took apparently similar capsules containing starch like, two capsules for two weeks. To induce DOMS, participants performed a step protocol that included four sets (5 minutes for each set), with a 1-minute of rest interval between each set using a 46 cm-step. Range of Motion (ROM) of low extremity joints and circumferences, and Visual Analog Scale (VAS were measured before, immediately after (Time 0), and 24 hours (Time 1) and 48 hours (Time 2) after eccentric exercises. Findings: This study showed that thigh Thigh circumference increased following eccentric exercise in the placebo group, while it did not change significantly in the experimental group (p>0.05). There was no significant difference between the two study groups regarding other variables (P>0.05). Vitamin D3 supplementation with the dosage and duration used in the present study reduced the limited symptoms of DOMS. Future studies of longer duration or higher dosage of vitamin D supplementation are recommended. Conclusions: According to the finding of this study, vitamin D3 supplementation could not reduce the limited symptoms significantly. However, future studies are suggested to evaluate the effect of higher dose or longer duration of vitamin D supplementation on DOMS

EEEV is the causative agent of a devastating meningoencephalitis syndrome, with approximately 30% mortality and significant morbidity. There is no licensed human vaccine against EEEV. An inactivated EEEV vaccine has been offered under investigational new drug (IND) protocols at the United States Army Medical Research Institute of Infectious Diseases (USAMRIID) since 1976. METHODS Healthy at-risk laboratory personnel received inactivated PE-6 strain EEEV (TSI-GSD 104) vaccine under two separate IND protocols. Protocol FY 99-11 (2002-2008) had a primary series consisting of doses on day 0, 7, and 28. Protocol FY 06-31 (2008-2016) utilized a primary series with doses on day 0 and 28, and month 6. Participants with an inadequate immune response, plaque reduction neutralization test with 80% cut-off (PRNT80) titer < 40, received booster vaccination. Volunteers with prior EEEV vaccination were eligible to enroll for booster doses based on annual titer evaluation. RESULTS The FY06-31 dosing schema resulted in significantly greater post-primary series immune response (PRNT80 ≥ 40) rates (84% vs 54%) and geometric mean titers (184.1 vs 39.4). The FY 06-31 dosing schema also resulted in significantly greater cumulative annual immune response rates from 1 to up to 7 years post vaccination (75% vs 59%) and geometric mean of titers (60.1 vs 43.0). The majority of probably or definitely related adverse events were mild and local; there were no probably or definitely related serious adverse events. CONCLUSIONS Inactivated PE-6 EEEV vaccine is safe and immunogenic in at-risk laboratory personnel. A prolonged primary series, with month 6 dose, significantly improved vaccine immunogenicity both post-primary series and longitudinally on annual titers. Despite decades of safe use under IND, full licensure is not planned due to manufacturing constraints, and ongoing development of alternatives.

Th e subjects performed twice on a treadmill with speed of 5 km p er hour with the 400 energy cost calories. Blood sa mples were collected for determination of ghrelin in the same conditions and controlling affecting environmental factors on rest and immediately after two sessions running on a tre admill with a one-week interval. The results showed that blood ghrelin increased significantly. According to the r esearch findings, blood ghrelin levels increased in a running with speed of 5 km per hour on a treadmill with 400 ener gy cost calories.

Thus, the aim of the present study was evaluating the effect of aerobic training of parents before pregnancy on the expression of some of the main genes in breast cancer in breast tissue of their offspring. Method: Eighteen female and 6 male Sprague Dawley rats were randomly divided into two exercise training and control group. After training each male mated with 2 females. Parental aerobic training with moderate intensity was performed running on treadmill for 4 weeks, 5 sessions per week. Finally Pairs 4, 5, and 6 of adult breast tissues was performed to evaluate the expression of BRCA1, TP53, ER-α, IGF-1 and IGF-1R. Results: We found that prepregnancy moderate aerobic training of mother, especially along with father caused a significant increase in the mRNA of the BRCA1, P53 and ER-α genes, and a significant reduction in IGF-1 and IGF-1R. Conclusion: Exercise with moderate intensity before mating significantly affected the expression of BRCA1, P53, IGF-1, IGF-1R and ER-α genes. So we suggest that parents regular exercise before pregnancy can reduce the risk of breast cancer in children.

Comparison of stress between endodontists, postgraduate and undergraduate students during endodontic therapy

This study was designed with the aim of comparing stress levels during different stages of endodontic treatment among endodontic professionals, under-and postgraduate students. Materials and Methods: In this ex-post facto investigation, three groups including professional endodontists (n=36), undergraduate (n=41) and postgraduate dental students (n=47) were involved by convenience sampling. A 48-item questionnaire, with five-point scales (very little to very much), was prepared for this study based on interview. The questionnaire was filled out by participants in a self report method. Data were analyzed by multivariate analysis of variance and Scheffe's post-hoc tests. Results: The stress among undergraduate dental students in all fields was more than those of professionals and postgraduate dental students, except for the stress of local anesthetic injection with lidocaine. Stress levels of all three groups were significantly different in inferior alveolar block injections with lidocaine, with professionals having more stress than under-and postgraduate dental students. The most stressful aspect of endodontic treatment, among the three groups was canal obturation, followed by obturation of the molar canals, preparing molar access cavities in special conditions and taking the final radiographs. The suggested methods offered for occupational stress reduction, was experience and knowledge, adequate knowledge, concentration and self confidence, and trust in God, respectively. Conclusion: The stress among undergraduate dental students in all fields was more than that in professionals and pos graduate dental students, except for the stress of local anesthetic injections with lidocaine.
