The protease fraction obtained had proteolytic activity on the glycinin A4AS subunit at both pH 4 and 8. A suitable peptidic substrate for the endopeptidase was isolated from the tryptic digest of the carboxymethylated A4AS subunit. Using the tryptic peptide of glycinin As subunit, a simple assay system for the soybean endopeptidase activity has been established. The activity was significantly inhibited by phenylmethylsulfonyl fluoride, indicating the endopeptidase is a serine protease. Soybeans contain a large amount of storage proteins and various proteases. 1-13) Although there have been many reports on the characterization and purification of soybean proteases, the roles of these proteases in vivo and the relationship between these proteases and their endogenous substrates during germination are largely to be elucidated. Catsimpoolas et al., 9) reported some properties of a protease obtained by isoelectric fractionation from dormant and 6-day germinated soybean seeds using synthetic substrates. This endopeptidase could hydrolyze benzoyl DL-arginine p-nitroanilide (BAPA) in the pH 8.2-8.5 region, and was not inactivated by Kunitz soybean trypsin inhibitor. Bond and Bowles reported preliminarily on the endopeptidase activity in soybean seeds and they identified both acidic and alkaline/neutral endopeptidase using both endogeneous and exogeneous substrates, but they used only crude extracts as the endogeneous substrate and enzyme solution. 12) These proteases seemed to be active with the B-chain of insulin and glycinin (lIS: acidic subunit) and conglycinin (7S: a-subunit). Nishikata also reported the purification and some properties of a trypsin-like protease but used a synthetic substrate. 13) This trypsin-like protease was active with BAPA and angiotensin II but inactive with angiotensin III and the B-chain of insulin. These results suggest that various proteases are involved in the degradations of many storage proteins during germination. However, very little information is available concerning the relationship between the soybean endopeptidases and the endogeneous substrates, so far. This paper describes the partial purification of an endopeptidase from the imbibed soybean seeds and the identification of the endogeneous substrate, which is glycinin A4AS subunit. And we have also developed an assay system for the endopeptidase activity using various protease digests of glycinin A4AS subunit as substrate with analytical HPLC.

The studied sites were located at Guimara of Khagrachari district and Thandachori of Rangamati districts respectively. Soil samples were collected from three different soil depths i.e. 0–15 cm (top), 15–55 cm (middle) and 55–85 cm (bottom) of each location. The soils of forested areas contained higher amounts of total micronutrients in three layers in comparison to that of agricultural areas. The study also revealed that total soil micronutrients like Fe, Mn and Cu of the studied areas were found relatively higher compared to that of other areas of Bangladesh. The middle soil layers of both forested and agricultural sites contained higher amounts of total micronutrients than that of the top and bottom layers. Clay particle was relatively significant ...

Previously reported effects of institutional quality and political risks on foreign direct invest... more Previously reported effects of institutional quality and political risks on foreign direct investment (FDI) are mixed and, therefore, difficult to interpret. We present empirical evidence suggesting a relatively clear, statistically robust, and intuitive characterization. Institutional factors that affect the likelihood of an abrupt and total loss of foreigners' capital (i.e., return of capital) dominate those that affect rates of return conditional on a strictly positive terminal investment value (i.e., return on capital). A one-standarddeviation reduction in expropriation risk is associated with a 72 per cent increase in FDI, which is substantially larger than the effects of any other dimensions of institutional quality simultaneously controlled for in our empirical models of FDI inflows. This evidence is consistent with the predictions of a standard theory of FDI under imperfect contract enforcement. We show in the context of a simple model with endogenous expropriation that, when there is a binding threat of expropriation, foreign investors can become unresponsive to differences in other dimensions of institutions and political risk, and may even reduce optimal investment as these institutions improve.

To analyse the use of agents to recruit international students by tertiary institutions in New Zealand, this study attempts to find effectiveness and shortcomings of using international agents as a marketing strategy in recruiting international students. Though marketing strategies of marketing higher education is not new to the Anglo-Saxon countries (UK, US, and Australia), however, such marketing strategies of tertiary institutions in New Zealand have not been examined empirically. Deductive method of research was adopted and a total of 150 international students who studied at undergraduate and postgraduate level in a polytechnic in the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand participated in the research. The empirical findings of the research suggest that most international students relied on international agents for visa application and for enro...

Most importantly, it investigates system performance and optimum power which must be received at the receiver channel. In some cases, this information could be generated, saved for past data analysis, and share with peer users which are not found in existing web tools. Thus, it is obvious to design a new Link Budget calculator with users, database, and data retrieval support. This work focuses on designing a Link Budget web tool for X-band satellite communication through literature study and comparative analysis. The X-Band calculator is designed based on HTML, PHP, Javascript, and MySQL by ensuring several security issues, and can be accessed through mobile devices. This paper also focuses on the necessary equations of Link Budget for Uplink (Tx); Satellite; Downlink (Rx); Azimuth, Elevation, Distance analysis; and Rain attenuati...

A high performance liquid chromatographic method (HPLC) equipped with photodiode array detector (... more A high performance liquid chromatographic method (HPLC) equipped with photodiode array detector (PDA) has been used to determine the water-soluble vitamin B complex ( B1, B2, B3, and B6) in eleven selected vegetables of Bangladesh. The results showed varied levels of vitamin B-complexes. Precisely, Thankuni leaves showed the highest contents of vitamin B1; 0.19 mg/100 g, and vitamin B2; 0.25 mg/100g. Higher content of vitamin B3 (0.59 mg/100 g) were quantified in Coriander leaves, but absent in Jute leaves. On the other hand, the maximum quantified amount of B6 (0.73 mg/100 g) was detected in Carrot. In contrast, there was no detectable vitamin B6 in Jute, and Mint leaves and Cabbage. The findings of the current study may supplement the current Food Composition Table for Bangladesh (FCTB) by providing nutritional information of vitamin B complex in leafy and non-leafy vegetables which can also be used for calculating the habitual dietary intake and/or nutritional survey purposes.

The aim of the current study was to compare the in-hospital mortality between female and male patients with AMI and to compare the differences in age, risk factors, treatment given and complications between them. Methods: Total 200 nonrandomised patients with a definite diagnosis of AMI admittedover a period of one year (January 2008-December 2008) were enrolled in the study, in which 100 female patients were considered as cases and 100 male patients as controls. Both groups were studied prospectively.Datawere collected in prefixed questionnaire and data sheet and were analysed using SPSS software. Results: mean age of the female patients was significantly higher than that of their male counterpart (57.0±10.1 years and 53.3±10.3 years respectively, p=0.029). Diabetes mellitus and hyperlipidemia were significantly higher in females than those in males (39% vs 24%, p=0.022 and 45% vs 32%, p=0.040 respectively), while smoking was staggeringly higher among the males (59%) compared to the females (4%) (p<0.001). However, no significant difference was observed between the groups in terms of hypertension (p=0.666).Pre-hospital delay (more than 12 hours after onset of chest pain) was significantly higher in the female group than that in the male group (72% vs 58%,p=0.038). Streptokinase was significantly underused in females (15.6%) compared to that used in males (32.2%) (p=0.011). The use of b-receptor blockerswas also significantly less in females than that in males (63% vs 75%, p=0.046).Death was significantly higher in the females (21%) than that in the males (10%) (p=0.032). Unstable angina, re-infarction and congestive heart failure were somewhat higher in the female subjects compared to their male counterparts (40% vs 34%, 2% vs 1% and 32% vs 23% respectively) though the differences did not seem significant (p=0.380, p=0.561 and p=0.154 respectively). Arrhythmias did not differ significantly between the groups (p 1 >0.05). Conclusion: Female patients with AMI had significantly higher in-hospital mortality. Early hospitalization and optimal treatment are crucial to decrease mortality in female patients.

Coronary artery aneurysms after coronary intervention are rare, the incidence of coronary artery ... more Coronary artery aneurysms after coronary intervention are rare, the incidence of coronary artery aneurysms after DES implantation is low within the first 9 months, with a reported incidence of 0.2% to 2.3%, a rate similar to that reported after bare-metal stent (BMS) implantation (0.3% to 3.9%) in the DES versus BMS randomized trials. Most "aneurysms" are in fact pseudoaneurysms rather than true aneurysms 1-4. Residual dissection and deep arterial wall injury (rupture or resection of the vessel media) caused by oversized balloons or stents, high pressure balloon inflations, atherectomy, and laser angioplasty have all been associated with coronary artery aneurysms after coronary intervention 1-3. Drug-eluting stents (DES), which locally elute antiproliferative drugs, can dramatically inhibit neointimal growth, thereby suppressing restenosis 5,6 , but at the same time potentially causing coronary aneurysms due to other mechanisms, such as delayed reendothelialization, inflammatory changes of the medial wall, and hypersensitivity reactions 7-10. These findings may be due to delayed healing secondary to the antiproliferative action of the eluted drug, cell necrosis and/or apoptosis from the antimetabolite effect of the drug, and hypersensitivity reactions to the drug/polymer mixture on the DES 7-9. Systemic administration of antiinflammatory agents (glucocorticoids and colchicine) after stent implantation may be associated with a greater risk of aneurysm formation. 11 However, the true incidence, clinical course, and treatment of coronary artery aneurysms after DES implantation remain largely unknown. Case Report: Mr. X, 60 years old non smoker, non alcoholic, diabetic, hypertensive businessman got admitted in NICVD with complaint of ischaemic chest pain on minimal exertion for 3 months. ECG was within in normal limit, ETT was positive and Echocardiogram showed Anterior wall hypokinesia with EF-65%. CAG showed Significant long lesion in LAD. Direct stenting to LAD was done at the same setting with Promus Element (2.75×38mm, at 18 ATM).Whole procedure was uneventful and patient was discharged from hospital with double antiplatelet coverage. After 10 days of PCI patient got readmitted in hospital with complaints of chest discomfort with high grade fever for 2 days. ECG showed AMI (Extensive Anterior) indicating involvement of LAD territory with strong suspicion of Sub Acute Stent Thrombosis (SAST). Streptokinase could not be given due to delayed arrival. Patient was treated conservatively with LMWH. Blood and urine culture was negative. Check CAG was done 7 days after readmission showing Patent stent in LAD with aneurysmal dilatation at the distal end of stent in LAD.

The experiments were conducted to determine the drying curve, drying time, drying constant and dynamic equilibrium moisture contents of tea at the Bangladesh Tea Research Institute. Drying of tea in a fluidized bed dryer (Kilburn Vibro Fluid Bed Dryer) takes only 20 min for drying from an initial moisture content of 69.1% to a final moisture content of 2.8%. Temperatures of drying air were recorded to be 130°C at the inlet and 90°C at the outlet. The drying constant was found to be 31.05 h-1 and the dynamic equilibrium moisture contents were in the range of 18.3 to 2.0%. Finally the principle of fluidized bed drying was compared with the principle of conventional endless chain pressure type drying. When defining the gait for stepping stairs, there exist two main phases which are Single Support Phase (SSP) and Double Support Phase (DSP). The challenge is to make the anthropoid stable in its upright position without losing it while performing the two alternating phases, SSP and DSP. In this paper a novel gait for an anthropomorphic system to step up-down stairs is formulated and experimented using BIOLOID humanoid platform. The gait is merged with various poses which are excogitated through the Forward and Inverse Kinematics (FK and IK) analysis based on Denavit-Hartenberg (D-H) representation and Geometric-Trigonometric (G-T) formulation techniques. The main focus of this paper is to represent and analyze the diverse behaviour of the various joint actuators of the robot while performing the step up and down stairs.

While, the mean serum inorganic phosphate level in healthy control group was 1.23±0.17 m...

Structural, compositional, morphological and electrical characterizations of the vacuum annealed ... more Structural, compositional, morphological and electrical characterizations of the vacuum annealed Cu 2 ZnSnS 4 (CZTS) thin films were carried out in this study. The films were annealed at the low temperature (200 o C) for a long time (1-3 hours) without excessive sulphur ambient to investigate the possibility of (i) low temperature process and (ii) eluding the post deposition sulphurization process, respectively. The change in the microstructure with subsequent recrystallization and grain growth was observed in annealed thin films. The crystallite grain size, lattice constant, microstrain and dislocation densities of the films are quite different for the different films as observed from XRD analysis. The films are found in Zn poor and Cu rich and the ratio of Cu/(Zn+Sn) show that the films are very poor stoichiometric. The lowest resistivity 30.6 Ω-cm with mobility 6.8 cm 2 /V-sec and highest resistivity 97.2 Ω-cm with mobility 5.4 cm 2 /V-sec was observed for as-deposited and annealed CZTS thin films, respectively.

Designing a suitable indoor environment and its mapping are also important for the android localization, selection of a goal to achieve it and to perform the assigned tasks in its surroundings. This paper delineates the various gaits like walking, turning, obstacle overcoming and step up-down stairs for a humanoid system. The writing also explicates the design of the indoor test environment with the stationary obstacles placed on the navigation routes. The development of an efficient algorithm is also excogitated based on the various analyses of gaits and the predefined map of the test environment. As the navigation map is predetermined, the designed algorithm animates the humanoid to navigate by selecting an optimal route, depending on some external commands, to reach at the goal position. Finally the performance of the system is analysed based on the elapsed time of the navigation action with the validation of optimal navigation strategy where the designed algorithm demonstrates the robustness of its implementation and execution.
