Therefore, in this paper a formalism to model the group interaction is proposed, this approach is inspired by formalisms that have been developed within this context: an ontology of the session management policy, which establishes the group organizational structure, in terms of the roles that users (group members) will play; an Model-View-Controller architectural pattern, which establishes a set of recommendations to facilitate the process of groupware development; and a Methodology that supports the process of ontologies development, by using a set of tasks, allowing us to simplify this process. The formalism to analyze and design the interaction in a shared workspace, is composed by the following modeling: 1) Role Modeling; 2) Interaction Modeling; and 3) User Interface Modeling. Finally, a proof of concept based on a case study is presented.

It is important that these applications do not provide only the needed infrastructure to support group work, but also grant some ways to change the group behaviour during a session. Therefore, this paper presents a conceptual model of the session management

In which, the structure organizational determines the division of labor in order to persons perform the organization process in an appropriated manner. In collaborative applications, this structure determines how the interaction among users, as well as between the users and the application, are carried out. For this reason, a workflow to manage the group organizational structure will be ideal. Although, workflow lacks the expressive power to represent the domain knowledge and the sequence of operations. An ontology describes the knowledge domain through concepts, relations, axioms and instances, but ontology does not specify how these entities should be used and combined. Therefore, in this paper a workflow ontology to control the group organizational structure is proposed. A case study is presented to show the use of knowledge-based workflow ontology for this structure.

SAMCA: Service-based Architectural Model for Collaborative Applications
ABSTRACT This paper proposes a Service based-Architectural Model for Collaborative Applications (... more ABSTRACT This paper proposes a Service based-Architectural Model for Collaborative Applications (SAMCA), which allows us to develop this type of applications as well as to adapt them to different collaborative scenarios. A collaborative application may be represented by five concerns according to SAMCA. These concerns are represented as layers in the proposed model. Therefore, it contains Data Layer, Group Layer, Cooperation Layer, Application Layer, and Adaptation Layer. Each layer is made-up of services and/or modules, which supply the necessary elements to build any collaborative application. The architectural model proposed in this work, uses SOA (Service-Oriented Architecture), to specify each service of SAMCA, and allows reutilization, and adaptation of the developed collaborative application. The construction of a Conference Management System (CMS), is presented as a case study to show the SAMCA usefulness.

This configuration can change in accordance with tasks and group needs at a given moment. It is very important that the groupware applications can adapt dynamically to cope with changing organizational structure conditions and unexpected system errors. This paper presents, on the one hand the ontology-based modelled of the group organizational structure in the groupware applications; the ontology takes into account the dynamic aspects of the group organizational structure to adapting to different changes. On the other hand, the adaptation process that allows to adapt dynamically group organizational structure in the groupware applications. This process adjusts the application functionality by the user's direct intervention (adaptable process) and automatically (adaptive process); thus we show two cases studies for each type of adaptation.

They allow dynamically specifying behaviour of a system, which can be easily modified without the need for substantial changes of the structure or implementation environment. The policy-based systems management requires an appropriate policy specification. An ontology-based policy specification simplifies

We use the LA acronim of LANMR to stand both for Languages/Logic + Algorithms, as well as for "Latin America". There were 18 submissions. Each submission was reviewed by at least 1, and on the average 2.7, program committee members. The committee decided to accept 8 papers. The program also includes no invited talks. This edition of the workshop has been organized by The Autonomous University of Mexico State, UAEM (La Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México). The aim of the workshop was to bring together active researchers in formal areas of Computer Science (CS) such as Logic, Formal languages, Algorithms, and Non-Monotonic Reasoning. Particular topics of interest were: knowledge representation, belief revision, reasoning about actions, planning, logic programming, causality and algorithms complexity. In Latin America there are research groups interested in these areas. The number of papers and workshops submitted to different congresses related to Computer Science, such as IBERAMIA, ENC and MICAI, provides evidence of such interest. As a result, LANMR Workshop is designed to promote cooperation among practitioners and researchers across disciplines who are interested in the formal areas of Computer Science. The aims of the workshop were to:

The designing of these kinds of systems should always be completed having in mind the users. Accordingly, it is of outmost importance that the user interface presents a high level of usability. In this paper, a usability evaluation methodology of Digital Libraries is proposed; specifically for the Web site of Academic Digital Libraries. The methodology offers a evaluation instrument that collects the users' perceptions through four dimensions (effectiveness, efficiency, satisfaction and learnability). In addition, the gap theory of quality service is employed and a fuzzy linguistic approach using aggregation operators, which operate directly with words (linguistic information) is applied. Therefore, the methodology shows to be a significant, innovative contribution to the research area on usability evaluation of digital libraries. It can be useful for both an academic library Web site and an operational digital library. A case study is presented in order to demonstrate the usage of usability evaluation methodology of digital library.

Today, the use of collaborative applications has spread to various domains, as they facilitate communication, collaboration, and coordination between several users. These applications require mechanisms to support and model communication activities and processing of information, vital in the dynamic nature to the group. In this paper, the use of a software architecture is recommended to develop collaborative applications. This architecture for specifying the structure and behavior through the application, providing a shared meeting space to simplify and agile the group work. Thus, it is possible to support dynamic group structure. In addition, specification tables are proposed to simplify the development of this kind of applications; since the developers to complete the table are analyzing the necessary elements required to build an application, so performing requirements analysis, design, and displayed as would the final application. A case study to validate the software architecture is proposed.

Groupware typically provides a shared workspace, which is displayed through shared user interfaces by group members, with appropriate resources to accomplish a common task. Consequently, an adequate design and development of groupware requires that the shared user interfaces offer a high level of usability for the users’ interaction and the utilization of the shared resources. In this paper, a groupware usability evaluation methodology, specifically for the shared user interfaces, is proposed. This methodology provides an evaluation instrument that collects the users’ perceptions through four dimensions—effectiveness, efficiency, learnability and satisfaction—In addition, the gap theory of quality service, and a fuzzy linguistic approach using aggregation operators—which operate directly with words—are applied. Accordingly, the methodology shows to be a significant, innovative contribution to the research area on groupware usability evaluation. A case study to validate methodology, is presented.

So, it requires a representation scheme to provide a set of procedures, which allows the knowledge, to be stored, organized, and to represent the problem naturally. In such a way, a knowledge base can be produced. The representation scheme must be denoted by a model of some domain of interest in which symbols assist as substitutes for real world artifacts. These symbols must be stored as interest domain statements. In this work, the model used is a workflow ontology. This proposal specifies the set of steps-along with their order of execution-performed by different symbols to develop collaborative applications. Ontology is one of the strategies for the structured representation of a chosen knowledge domain in a formal way, which removing ambiguity and redundancy, detecting errors, and allowing automated reasoning. A case study is presented to show the use of a workflow ontology as a knowledge base for the development of Collaborative Applications.

Consequently, establishing an appropriate model of this structure's management is very important, as it can be used as a guide for implementing these kinds of systems. This modeling must be flexible enough, so that it can conform itself to changes within the group and to adjust to the different working styles of several groups, as well as to formally support a base of knowledge; helping to eradicate any ambiguity or redundancy. Therefore, this modeling must formally provide a knowledge representation in order to specify the elements and to control the set of orderly steps on an organizational structure. Thus, a workflow ontology to control such a structure is proposed in this paper. Since, the workflow manages and controls the process, via a set of steps ordered and executed by different organization entities, whereas the ontology specifies the domain of knowledge through concepts, relations, axioms, and instances in a formal, explicit, way. A case of study, to demonstrate the knowledge management of the group's organizational structure, through workflow ontology is shown.
