A ausência de proteção de dados e a mineração destes, a insubsistência da privacidade, hiperexposição de intimidade são efeitos nefastos observados na modernidade, decorrentes do acesso em massa à tecnologia e da busca incessante pela lucratividade. As circunstâncias ora vivenciadas são graves e denota-se que o Direito, dentro de suas limitações burocráticas e deliberativas sequer consegue acompanhar os fatos e as relações que demandam salvaguarda. Desta forma, a presente pesquisa será bibliográfica, de método hipotético-dedutivo, e buscará características das redes e seus principais modelos para permitir a identificação das redes sociais ao respectivo modelo de negócios. It is from these and other questions about the future of the university that this essay questions about the crisis of the Italian university in an environment heavily permeated by performance and efficiency rhetoric that seems to reduce the credibility of both the official discourse and the common sense. Il testo, un omaggio a colui che, in queste pagine, viene sovente definito Maestro e padre della sociologia italiana, riflette, pertanto, la prospettiva pluralistica ed i tanti temi di ricerca teorica ed empirica che Achille Ardigo ha affrontato nella sua lunga carriera di studioso, impegnato tanto nella vita accademica, quanto nella vita civile e politica.
