Terrorism has become a global plague causing insecurity and jeopardizing the development of many ... more Terrorism has become a global plague causing insecurity and jeopardizing the development of many countries. In the past few years, terrorism has exploded in Burkina Faso, affecting education, national security, health, and the economy. There is a great need for solutions to detect and stop terrorist attacks before they occur. This research project seeks to use Artificial Intelligence (AI) to mine social media and detect probable future terrorist attacks. This article describes the design of a framework, its partial implementation, and an experiment to validate the technique. The system consists of five steps: taking social media as input, converting it to text, validating it, extracting essential information, predicting its class, and storing it in a dataset. The modest size of the manually produced dataset utilized in the original experiment is a key drawback of the work discussed in this research. The modest size proved inconvenient for Deep Learning algorithms, which operate best with massive datasets. When we complete the entire system, inserting increased data from social media into the dataset will resolve this limitation. The other limitation is the partial implementation of the framework, which does not provide a comprehensive picture of the proposed approach. Our future works will address the remainder parts of the proposed framework.

Traceability and Interoperability at Different Levels of Abstraction in Model Transformations

ABSTRACT MDE (Model Driven Engineering) is a new approach of software design where the whole proc... more ABSTRACT MDE (Model Driven Engineering) is a new approach of software design where the whole process of design and implementation is worked out around models. With MDE, a system is built by designing a set of models at different levels of abstraction. At the first level, only the main functionalities of the system are modeled. This first model is called according the MDA (Model Driven Architecture) terminology the PIM (Platform Independant Model). This PIM can be projected into one or more other models by transformations. These latter models being at lower levels of abstraction. When a model at a given level of abstraction integrates some platform (technology) information, it is called a PSM (Platform Specific Model). Model transformation is therefore a key issue of the MDE approach. However many questions arise about transformations. Among these questions is: When a model is transformed into different other models on different platforms, how to ensure the interoperability between these models? par This paper aims to provide an answer to the above question. Our approach is based on a traceability model. This model keeps links between the source and target model elements but also records the different operations that where performed in the transformation. We present a methodology for the automatic generation of the traceability model, and the exploitation of this model to ensure interoperability. An example based on OCP is provided to illustrate our proposal.

High Accuracy Location Information Extraction From Social Network Texts Using Natural Language Processing

Terrorism has become a worldwide plague with severe consequences for the development of nations. ... more Terrorism has become a worldwide plague with severe consequences for the development of nations. Besides killing innocent people daily and preventing educational activities from taking place, terrorism is also hindering economic growth. Machine Learning (ML) and Natural Language Processing (NLP) can contribute to fighting terrorism by predicting in real-time future terrorist attacks if accurate data is available. This paper is part of a research project that uses text from social networks to extract necessary information to build an adequate dataset for terrorist attack prediction. We collected a set of 3000 social network texts about terrorism in Burkina Faso and used a subset to experiment with existing NLP solutions. The experiment reveals that existing solutions have poor accuracy for location recognition, which our solution resolves. We will extend the solution to extract dates and action information to achieve the project's goal.

The annular ring seal comprises an annular ring plate having an outer peripheral surface affixed to the containment wall and an inner peripheral surface proximate the reactor vessel; and a flexure member having an annular base plate, which sealingly engages and is affixed to the annular ring plate near the inner peripheral surface thereof, and having a leg which is joined to and extends upwardly from the annular base plate and which is affixed to the peripheral wall of the reaction vessel to thereby seal the annular thermal expansion gap.

— In this paper, we present a multilevel framework for MultiProcessor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoC) tha... more — In this paper, we present a multilevel framework for MultiProcessor Systems-on-Chip (MPSoC) that makes fast simulation and performance evaluation possible in the design flow. In this framework, we use the Model-Driven Engineering (MDE) approach within the GASPARD design flow. Two target simulation models at the Cycle Accurate Bit Accurate (CABA) and the timed Programmers view (PVT) abstraction levels are defined. In addition, in this paper, a set of meta-models corresponding to the simulation models and the deployment phase are also detailed. The latter meta-model allows hardware component refinement with performance parameters specification. Experimental results show the usefulness of our framework to decrease the design complexity of MPSoC architecture and to acheive high speedup simulation with a negligible estimation error margin. I.

Thus, the medical history of a patient may not be complete, consistent or comprehensive if the records cannot be combined into a single consistent overview that may not be efficient for the future diagnosis of the patient. Health Information Exchange (HIE) relates to the electronic transfer of health care information between institutions and practitioners within a specific group, region or hospital. However, HIE is surrounded with various challenges such as data insecurity, threat to patient privacy, dependency on third parties and so on. Blockchain through its characteristics such as safety, privacy, decentralization, and immutability has the ability to transform health care, putting the patient at the core of the health care ecosystem, and enhancing health data security, privacy, and interoperability thereby offering HIE with excellent potential. In this paper Health Information Exchange (HIE) and Blockchain Technology are discussed and the possibility of using blockchain technology to achieve HIE is presented.

It is an emerging technology that has drawn considerable interest financial institutions, energy supply firms, academic community and also the healthcare industry. Blockchain promises transparent, tamper-proof and secure systems that can enable novel solutions especially when combined with smart contracts. Decentralization is a significant characteristic of blockchain that can benefit healthcare applications, making it possible to implement distributed healthcare apps that do not depend on a centralized authority. In addition, the fact that the information in the blockchain is duplicated among all the nodes in the network creates an environment of transparency and openness that allows healthcare stakeholders, and patients in particular, to understand how their data is used, by whom, when and how. This paper presents a review on the application of blockchain to the health care sector.
