The present study examined social maturity among tribal and non tribal adolescents with special r... more The present study examined social maturity among tribal and non tribal adolescents with special reference to their type of school and stream. The study was confined to 280 tribal and non tribal adolescent students of government and private higher secondary institutions in Shopian district of Jammu and Kashmir. Social maturity scale developed by Nalini Rao (2002) was used to collect data. The scale consists of three dimensions of social maturity personal adequacy, interpersonal adequacy and social adequacy. The sample for the study was taken from the entire district of Shopian by employing purposive sampling technique. In order to generalize the mean significant difference, comparative analysis of respondents was analyzed. Significance difference was observed among tribal and non tribal adolescents on all three dimensions. Non tribal adolescents were observed with high level social maturity on all three dimensions as compared to tribal adolescents. Thus, impact of tribal was reported insignificant on the level of social maturity of the respondents.

The main purpose of the study is to see the gender and socioeconomic profile of village Manihal S... more The main purpose of the study is to see the gender and socioeconomic profile of village Manihal Shopian Kashmir and the study was conducted through survey method. The result of this study shows that the males are more literate than their counterpart. The survey shows that the village population is facing so many problems from last 30 years like unemployment , water, education, electricity, transport, as well as health center problem. This also shows that the youth of the village are educated but they are suffering so many problems like unemployment and they are hardly fulfilling their needs because employment is a major avenue for increasing income and consequent economic well being. Men and women tend to have different socioeconomic profile within economy in terms of position they occupy and the activities they engage in. overall economic status of both men and women rests upon employment but as per the study both are still unemployed and have been studied under this survey.
