The theme for the upcoming summit is Envisioning a New Future through Youth Synergy-Fresh Perspectives on China-ASEAN Cooperation in the Post-Covid Era. As leaders of the future, youths are responsible for shaping the world of tomorrow. To meet the needs of the ever-changing world, it is important that they acquire a critical mind and a global perspective on issues that disrupt the world, enabling them to take on the challenges of the future. Amidst the global pandemic, youths have been quick to understand needs of the current situation and have effectively employed technology to create solutions and movements to aid regional recovery. While they may not be able to contribute financially or solve the bigger problems like the global recession, their voice can bring new perspectives and push for greater changes in the world of the future. As we gather youths of China and ASEAN to discuss key issues on regional development, we hope that their collaboration and synergy will bring impact to the region and inspire the world beyond. Since 2016, the China-ASEAN Youth Summit has been organized by the Southeast Asian Society of Peking University to provide students from ASEAN and China an opportunity to discuss on contemporary regional issues and explore various cultures. A signature event of the Peking University School of International Studies, CAYS promotes the collaboration among youth in ASEAN and China through academic and cultural exchanges. In light of the global pandemic situation, this instalment of the summit will be conducted online entirely. Nonetheless, delegates can look forward to enjoying a fruitful time with meaningful interactions and exchange of ideas with peers in model-ASEAN conferences. Our summit also features a panel discussion where delegates have the opportunity to inquire about interested topics related to the experts' diverse fields and gain insights on the future of China-ASEAN in the post-Covid era.
