Data were collected through a survey involving companies listed in B3 S/A from 2014 to 2016, except for companies from the financial sector. The final sample encompassed 195 companies per assessed year, thus totaling 585 observations concerning 2014, 2015 and 2016.Findings- Confirmed the direct and positive effect of CG on DC development, as well as DC’s influence on BP and the mediating effect of DC on the CG - BP relationship. The main conclusion was that DCs are a powerful mediating influence on the CG-BP relationship. Hence, even with efficient corporate governance mechanisms, the companies must make decisions in line with their dynamic capabilities as a way to reach better business pe...

Using Christensen's (1995; 1996) and Teece's (1986) proposals for analysing assets (resources and capabilities) and inter-asset linkages in order to produce and commercially exploit technological innovation, a conceptual framework is defined suitable to identify the variables affecting the probability of a firm to innovate and those affecting a greater count of innovations, once the firm has decided to innovate. Thus, a "double-hurdle" approach involving censored and truncated models was applied. The findings confirm that firms innovative assets investment in external technology, investment in R&D, and external alliances, alongside firm size are the significant variables in determining firms' likelihood to innovate, whereas external alliances, firm size and market orientation are related to intensity to in...

Managing micro and small enterprise supply chains: A multi-level approach to sustainability, resilience and regional development
Journal of Cleaner Production, 2021
Abstract Amidst the high number of frameworks associated with supply chain sustainability (SCS), ... more Abstract Amidst the high number of frameworks associated with supply chain sustainability (SCS), proper consideration to the role and importance of micro and small enterprises (MSEs) has been missing in the literature. To address this research gap, this paper investigates the driving factors that support MSE supply chains to achieve sustainability. We employ institutional and complexity theories to broaden our understanding of the dynamics behind neglected supply chain structures, especially the ones predominantly formed by MSEs. An in-depth nested case study is carried out in a MSE supply chain in an emerging economy, where 33 supply chain players were involved in the data collection. Using a combination of deductive and inductive approaches to analyze the data, we find that to truly implement SCS, research and practice should consider not only the strategic, structural and process levels, but also the contextual level, which is critical dimension to SCS dynamics. Results show that MSE supply chains contribute significantly to regional socio-economic development due to their local roots and regional history. Also, findings demonstrate that MSE supply chains have enhanced resilience to crises (e.g., economic, political and other disruptions) because they are often focused on long-standing economic activities within the regional ecosystems. This paper contributes to theory by arguing that SCS is a much more complex phenomenon in practice than the current theory implies. Therefore, incorporating the diversity from reality and the peculiarities of MSE supply chains into the SCS debate helps the literature to get closer to the SCS practice.

The Determinants of Export Success: Strategic Orientation, Attitude and Managerial Capabilities
RAM - Revista de Administração Mackenzie, Mar 24, 2021

It was based on the theoretical framework derived from the theories of firms' internationalization and studies on export performance of small and medium firms, obtained through the literature review of researches approaching success factors in export by firms of several countries. To achieve the objective, it was carried out field research involving 35 small and medium firms in Ceará state, using structured questionnaire. The method of linear discriminant analysis was the technique used to identify the significant statistical differences between the two groups of firms. It was verified that the studied dimensions presented relationship statistically significant with frequent exporters firms, confirming the fo...

Design/methodology/approach -To achieve the objective, a survey was conducted with a sample of 295 consumers. All participants, regardless of gender, were asked to access the SurveyMonkey site link and to answer the questions regarding the quality of clothing for both men and women. Data analysis was performed using descriptive statistics and variance analysis (ANOVA). Findings -The main results show that: 1. The consumers of garments regard as highly important to take into consideration quality attributes when deciding to buy clothes, especially for women in relation to menswear; 2. Women has a higher perception than men as for the evaluation of the quality attributes of both women's wear and menswear; and, 3. Clothing consumers, in particular consumers of women's products, only consider to purchase such products if they have, in particular, style, fabric quality and fair price. Originality/value -This research filled in some theoretical and methodological gaps with regard to giving emphasis to gender differences in clothing quality assessment. This is in line with the conclusions of quality research conducted long ago, such as Olson & Jacoby's (1972), which findings are specific to the type of product and/or consumer investigated. Therefore, generalizations beyond the product or the consumers examined are of dubious validity.
