AP Vojvodina is considered to be a very attractive investment location, which especially stands out for its favorable geographical location, liberal foreign investment laws and labor laws, highly educated and skilled workforce that can be engaged at low costs, as well as the tax incentives and numerous financial incentives available interested foreign investors. Reviewing the scientific and professional literature, it can be concluded that the value of human capital has very often been investigated as a determinant of FDI inflows, and mainly expressed through the level and quality of education and skills of workers. By conducting a survey of foreign investors operating in the free investment zones of AP Vojvodina, it was concluded that the respondents were satisfied with the quality of education and professional development of the workforce. By analyzing the obtained research results, the authors of this empirical study, while respecting the opinions of other authors, simultaneously provided scientific contributions to the subject area, as well as practical contributions in the form of concrete recommendations for public policy makers, primarily foreign investment policy and education policy in the territory of AP Vojvodina.

PTAs are increasingly used as engines of change in many developing countries, to promote, implement, and lock in reforms in a wide range of policy areas such as investment regimes, competition rules, and government procurement. They create larger and more competitive markets and benefit producers and consumers through economies of scale and lower prices. Although PTAs may promote development, they necessarily discriminate against nonmembers and can therefore lead to trade diversion in a way that hurts both member countries and excluded countries. Also, the proliferation of bilateral and regional PTAs may undermine progress toward a more open, transparent, and rules-based multilateral trading system. In this paper it will be discussed about the establishment and expectations of a free trade agreement CEFTA 2006. Specifically, the South East European countries, ...

The data were gathered through an online survey. In order to test the hypotheses, partial least squares structural equation modelling (PLS-SEM) was used.FindingsThe results revealed that export-related resources (intellectual, relational and managerial resources) fully mediate the relationship between EA and EP. It was shown that competitive intensity in export markets had a positive effect on the amount of EA that SMEs receive from the government, EU and other organisations.Research limitations/implicationsThe number of firms that participated in the sur...

The main task of the research is to indicate how changes in market share affect the development of the retail sector. Based on financial indicators in retail, realized turnover and profit per employee, the null research hypothesis was tested for proving a significant correlation between the size of market share of retail chains and their productivity and business results. The obtained results show the level of deviation in terms of the differences between the size of market share and productivity and the business result. There is also an obvious increase in the market share of large retail chains which has led to a decrease in the total number of small independent retailers, as well as a rise in market concentration levels. The obtained results, the conducted analyses and tests will point to the potential dangers of the concentration of the national market and define the criteria for achieving a higher degree of homogeneity. Suggestions and guidelines for future research are presented in the paper.

On the other hand, there are a modest number of studies dealing with pillars of competitiveness or other elements of competitiveness as key determinants of FDI inflows in host countries. The aim of the paper is to point out to the importance of research of these issues by the review of mentioned studies, as well as highlight the advantages of econometric methodology in the field of panel data regression models which are used in these researches, and to come to a conclusion which pillars of competitiveness most often appear as determinants of FDI inflows. Through a detailed overview of selected research studies that, using the same methodology, deal with the researched problem, the authors wanted to set a safe basis for future researches in that area and thereby contribute to the enrichment of scientific literature.

Therefore, the research of the potentials and the incentives that this location is offering was very interesting for the authors of this empirical study. The subject of this research is about the identification of the needs of the foreign investors for the new workforce. The sample of the research included 18 companies owned by foregin investors that operate in the free investment zones in AP Vojvodina (Novi Sad, Zrenjanin, Subotica and Apatin). Apart from attracting foreign investments, one of the fundamental reasons for creating free investment zones in the Republic of Serbia and AP Vojvodina was the increase of employment. Therefore, the goal of this research is the analysis of foreign investors' experiences with the jobs that were highly wanted during the research period, as well as identifying the key skills of the workers that are deemed the most important for the aforementioned jobs. With this empirical research the authors are confirming the general and specific research hypothesis and conclude that the foreign investors that have been operating in the free investment zones of the AP Vojvodina in 2018. have increased the level of employment in this region because they employed new workers with specific qualifications. Their needs for specific job positions were well-defined and clearly oriented towards several most sought-after jobs, while the certain worker skills were identified as key points for working on the newly-opened job positions.

Business cycles synchronisation between the EU-15 and selected Eastern European Countries – The wavelet coherence approach

We use wavelet coherence and phase difference methodology as a very suitable tool that observes simultaneously the strength of business cycles’ co-movement in the aspect of time as well as in the aspect of frequency. The results indicate that the business cycles of CEECs are generally synchronised with the EU-15 business cycles, whereas distinct differences existed before, during, and after the financial crisis (2008–2009) and during the European sovereign debt crisis (2010–2011). In other words, we demonstrate that very strong business cycles synchronisation occurred in almost all CEECs during crisis periods and at higher wavelet scales, while only moderate synchronisation is recorded in relatively tranquil periods at higher frequencies. The results suggest that smaller CEECs, but also larger countries such as the Czech Republic, Hung...

Integration may start this process, but it may also reverse it. New mega-integration deals such as the Trans-Pacific Partnership, Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership and Transatlantic Trade and Investment Partnership are under negotiation. Judging by the increasing number of EU member countries, enlargement has been the most successful EU policy ever. The economic side of its eastern enlargement is, however, a hybrid bag of effects for the EU's eastern countries because membership in the EU is not a tide that lifts all boats. This article, as a statistical primer, provides consistent data for the period 2000~2012. Majority of data is from Eurostat, where the data on eastern EU member countries are scattered around in various parts of Eurostat database. In the effort to present the data in a consolidated and straightfoward way to reveal the real economic effects on enlargement on the new EU member countries, we took the task

Motivation: As there are small number of studies that have examined the impact of transformational and transactional leadership on innovations within the hospitality industry and in Serbia, the need for investigation is imposed. The paper draws on methodology and works of Bass and Avolio (1997), Hogan et al. (2011) and Nasution et al. (2011) which are, in this paper, applied to the context of hotel industry. The results of this study will expand theory in this field and it could be used as a significant practical guide for hotel management in order to achieve business improvement. Idea: In today's turbulent business environment the ability of the organization to innovate been the decisive factor of surviving, creating and maintaining competitive advantage on the market and also a critical fa...
