A graduate of the Pan American Institute, she studied Business Administration and Library Science at the University of Panama. Did 3 semesters of Administration at Nova University, Panama. She has taken many seminars and entrepreneurship courses, both on the Canal Zone and in the City of Panama, and in 2003 graduated as a Merchant Marine, and, as a Superior Systems Engineering Technician in 2008.
Ines obtained her translation license in September 1993 after retiring from the Panama Canal in 1987 (one of the first to retire at age 48).
In 1988 she started The New Panama Tribune, which lasted 6 months into the Noriega era. Her latest incursion into writing and poetry, is as a member of the Staff of the AfroPanamanian Newsletter, begun in 2010 with very interesting feedback and colaboration from authors and friends: Antonio Cox (R.I.P.), Sandra Patterson (R.I.P.), Fernando Goldson, Dilsia Mariela Alleyne, Cecil Reynolds and Roberto Alleyne; concluded in June 2015.
She had the wonderful experience of collaborating with Prof. Leslie George in 1989 with the investigation, collection and presentation of terms and biographical info for the publication of the DICCIONARIO DE LA MUSICA HISPANOAMERICANA Y DE ESPAÑA (published in Spain to commemorate 500 years of the discovery of America).
In 1999 she published Vol. I of REMINIESCENCES/RECOPILACION: a bilingual collection of anecdotes, which she could remember or which were collected by interviews on the subject of West Indians and their history in Panama. She has done research in ancestry to find her roots and is also helping others to find theirs.
She has translated several books and as a member of Fundación Rescate juvenil Afro-panameño was the pioneering instructor for courses in Beginning Conversational English begun in 2004 and available in every part of the country in which we were offered a free locale.
As a loyal member of the Society of Friends of the Afro-West Indian Museum of Panama (SAMAAP), she has served on the Board of Directors more than once and has represented SAMAAP at international conferences.
