The study aimed to identify the crisis of female identity, dissociation disorder and self-fragmen... more The study aimed to identify the crisis of female identity, dissociation disorder and self-fragmentation in Kafa Al-Zubi's novel X (Al-Zubi, 2014). The novel portrays the female protagonist, X, with a dissociative identity disorder and a sense of self-fragmentation, a generic case of many women struggling to define their identities in patriarchal societies. X's dissociative identity forces her to live a fragmented life. She demonstrates signs of loss of interest, a manifestation of self-fragmentation, relational difficulties, and a desire for death. The novel is analyzed through psychoanalytic and postcolonial theories to define concepts of identity, dissociative identity disorder and self-fragmentation. The textual analysis reveals that, within the socio-religious fabric of a patriarchal society, a female's social/personal identity structure is restricted and psychologically confused. The dominant patriarchal system is destructive to the female's personal identity and her quest for achieving selfhood and independence. The female protagonist's attempt to balance her social/personal identities becomes fluid. She negotiates her social spaces in her attempt to resist a socially bound and labelled identity that stigmatizes a woman's existence as a self. challenges facing learners.

The current study aims at investigating the difficulties encountering Jordanian EFL students in t... more The current study aims at investigating the difficulties encountering Jordanian EFL students in the writing problem statement section. The study grouped those difficulties into two main categories, namely academic skills difficulties and language skills difficulties. It has been noticed that undergraduate as well as postgraduate students, lack the required skills enabling them to conduct a well-constructed research article, which sparkles the idea of this study. In addition, no previous study has examined the challenges encountered by Jordanian EFL students when conducting a research paper in general and the problem statement section in particular. For the purpose of collecting the required data of the present study, twenty Jordanian EFL students had a teaching program about research writing skills. They were introduced thoroughly to all sections of the research article, with special emphasis on the research problem, section which is the main concern of this study following that the participants were given a month period to accomplish their research papers before submission. The results of the study reveal that the participants lack the academic skills enabling them to conduct a well-constructed problem statement section. More specifically, the vast majority of the participants fail to provide an overview of their topics and to identify their research gap within the current literature. The study also shows that the participants face serious grammatical errors when writing research problem section. It could be concluded that conducting a scholarly research article in general and problem statement, in particular, is a demanding issue and need to be further highlighted by researchers and academicians to identify the challenges facing learners.

The purpose of this study was to construct and apply a measuring scale to investigate students' a... more The purpose of this study was to construct and apply a measuring scale to investigate students' attitudes towards distance learning at Amman Arab University; a private university in Jordan, through the evaluation of students attitudes, opinions, and perceptions of distance learning. The study sample consisted of 731 students. A scale was developed, consisting of 45 items. The validity and reliability of the scale were assured; using the Factor Analysis procedure the results showed a one factor present in the performance on this scale, also the scree plot assured this result. In addition, the result showed a moderately positive attitude towards distance learning; teacher and student interaction was encouraging, also the results showed no statistically significant difference between the arithmetic means attributed to student gender. Thus, students' attitudes and opinions favored distant learning.

The purpose of the study was to determine the level of readiness in Mathematics of First Year Hig... more The purpose of the study was to determine the level of readiness in Mathematics of First Year High School students of Cluster 6 Tugbok Secondary Schools, Division of Davao City, Philippines. The test contained Mathematics learning competencies namely: Whole Numbers, Fractions, Decimals, Percentage, Geometry, Measurement and Graphs. It used descriptive quantitative method of research where means and standard deviations were computed to determine the level of mathematical readiness. Respondents were chosen through random sampling technique. Mean ratings based on the three achievement tests administered were very low for Grade 6, moderate for Grade 5 and high for Grade 4. Results showed that the respondents are prepared for Grade 5 level. Based on the t-test results on the significant difference in terms of mathematical readiness when analyzed by sex, it was established that female students were more prepared than male students. The results suggest an intervention program to be formulated in order to improve the level of Mathematical readiness of freshman students.
The Philippines is continuously seeking the best educational system that would provide the needs ... more The Philippines is continuously seeking the best educational system that would provide the needs of the students, the industry, and to meet the international standards in education. Angelicum College is the only nongraded school in the Philippines that offers a unique system of education to its learners. The very purpose of the study was to find out the assessment of the learners on the nongraded instructional system and their level of achievement in Mathematics , Science, and English. The study used the descriptive-correlational method with the survey questionnaire as which has three (3) major indicators: the Teaching/Learning Approach, Role of Facilitators, and Evaluation System. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation and Pearson Product Moment or Correlation Analysis were also utilized. The learners assessed that the nongraded instructional system in terms of teaching/learning approach, role of facilitator and evaluation system. A 50-item achievement test in Mathematics, Science, and English was administered to the learners. The assessment of learners on the nongraded instructional system shows that they agree with a mean of 4.05 on the teaching/learning approach; 4.15 on the role of facilitators; and 4.02 on the evaluation system, with standard deviations that show homogeneous responses among learners. The learners agree on the importance of the nongraded instructional system which is categorized by teaching/learning approach, role of facilitator, and evaluation system. The level of achievement of learners show a mean of 30.86 in Mathematics; 29.32 in Science; and 34.11 in English, with standard deviations that show variations of scores by about 6 to 9 points. No significant relationship exists between the assessment of the nongraded instructional system and the learners achievement in Mathematics, Science, and English. It is recommended that the curriculum be retained because individualized instruction is efficient and that constant upgrading and evaluation be conducted to identify its strengths and limitations. The administrators may guide in realizing novel activities or programs that might lead to the vision that through the years, the unique system of instruction in the country would somehow influence for higher achievement of the learners in totality. THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND Education around the world is continuously seeking for educational systems, teaching and learning methods and strategies that will suffice the needs of the students and the industry. As our business world today is surrounded by highly technical machines, students and individuals are lured to spend most of their time on it. They are the great rival of our teachers for the students to devote their time on their lesson. The school must therefore find ways and means on how the lessons could be learned effectively, considering the learners other priorities and interests to motivate them and maximize learning.

There are a few steps on the gamification approach that have been applied by several researchers in this era. The gamification method was used in this study, which contained game elements and game design methods in a non-game context. Six gamification categories for teaching and learning are briefly discussed in this paper: (i) Courses without online support; (ii) MOOC; (iii) Blended/ Flipped Learning; (iv) E-Learning Site; (v) Gamified Platform/ System; and (vi) Mobile Application. The proposed gamification approach in education can also be a guideline for other researchers. Results shows that most of the respondents prefer to get rewards during the learning process follow by level, avatar and points. INTRODUCTION Gamification is the concept of applying game mechanics to engage and motivate students in learning. In other words, games nowadays are a part of students daily life. They spend a lot of time to play games. In order to engage student learning, the gamification method was used, which contained game elements and game design methods in a non-game context. Furthermore, using this method can help to improve learning engagement, suit learners learning style, and provide more adaptive learning. This gamification method has been used by researchers since a few years ago. Past studies showed that there was less engagement among students in building knowledge because often times, the students were treated as ordinary technology users (Tan & Hew, 2016). The solution of accessing this information freely is needed to overcome this situation. Several researchers stated that gamification has the potential for a positive impact on performance, productivity, and user engagement (Simões, Redondo, & Vilas, 2013). By implementing gamification, students will improve themselves in getting good results. The utilisation of the gamification method means that students will learn with academic materials with the use of game elements and cater different styles of learning (Arockiyasamy, Surendheran, & Bullard, 2016; McGrath & Bayerlein, 2013). This research is intended to foster positive appreciation toward the use of picture story book of... more This research is intended to foster positive appreciation toward the use of picture story book of elementary school students, as an effort to improve the quality of learning that gives a sense of calm, comfort and pleasant pleasure for students during the learning process. Specifically this study aims to: (1) to know the perceptions of teachers and principals on the use of picture books, (2) to grow the desire of teachers and principals in making picture books. The approach used in this research is Research and Development (R&D). Research subjects were teachers, principals, students, school committees, elements of the Education Office, selected by cluster sampling area. The first years research has produced a pictorial book product and then into the second years study of need assessment, teacher capacity building, school principals and school committees. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires, observations, interviews and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The data were analyzed descriptively qualitative. The second year research results obtained data on the condition of the 60 Elementary School selected as a place of study, as follows. (1) The sixty elementary schools assessed, it shows that there are some who have the ability and desire to make their own picture book and some have not grown desire in making picture books. (2) FGD results indicate the desire and ability of teachers in designing picture story books has grown despite the various limitations. The teacher's interest in designing his own picture story book hits the limitations of publishing access and knowledge of the book publishing flow. (3) Learning picture book should be given in an integrated manner with the study of Natural Sciences (IPA).

In order to meet society's need, they had established Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) as part of the telecommunication tower. Rampant of the tower constructions was not always heeded; "did the company get approval or not?". While, tower construction approval was very important as one of the administrative and technical specifications. In fact, unorganized tower construction would have a serious impact on space and land usage, such as reducing of open green area and spatial aesthetic value brought to a new problem, a conflict between communities and the tower's owner (none of the telecommunication providers), etc. In this way, the existence of local act draft on development, control, and telecommunication tower supervision was needed in order to provide legal certainty in tower construction. This research was a normative research (dogmatic legal research) with data inventory method, formulating problem, and preparation of Local Act Draft Model on Development, Control, and Telecommunication Tower Supervision. Method could be specified through collecting and compiling materials and informations, assessment, and analysis through undertaking an intensive discussion among team members by Focus Group Discussion (FGD) to find the feasibility material and information in order to create a legislation framework; then the final Local Act Draft Model on Development, Control, and Telecommunication Tower Supervision coupled with inputs from various experts in the field of development, control, and telecommunications tower supervision.

In this paper, an in depth study of a strategy process based drawings is presented, that initiated profound discussions, an open atmosphere and resulted in fresh insights and new perspectives. Based on the empirical data it is shown, that the paintings themselves became an important structural factor influencing the interaction system of the strategy meeting in a way that made these positive results appear. The findings show how knowing aesthetically gives access to a rich experience, and, therefore, complements cognitive knowledge.

Political advertising has become one of the main political information sources during election campaign. In political advertising, political advertisements are designed to serve multiple purposes, whether to persuade, influence, attack, inform or manipulate the voters' information-seeking. Meanwhile, the role of young voters in political process is a crucial study that needs to be addressed by scholars. Researchers in this field are eager to know how this target group uses political information to meet their information needs and usage. Therefore, in this study, an exploratory study by using Sense Making Methodology (SMM) was conducted to understand how young voters' political situation affects their information needs and usage. The participants of the study consist of nine universities' students from Klang Valley. The findings show that political advertisements do have an impact on their political situation and voting decision. Some important political issues do influence their political situation. In this exploratory study, parents do play a significant role in influencing young voters' political situation. Therefore, this paper will discuss the role of political advertising in voters' information-seeking and voting behaviour.

Analyzing the speed of diffusion is important to the growth of SMEs'. Time length for the adoption of technology that diffused was varied. Some technologies need a long time to be adopted; the others only take a short time. If technology diffusion could be sped up, can it be adopted immediately? Study of technology diffusion and its role in the growth of SMEs' was conducted among SMEs' of processed food, and it showed that many factors affected the speed of technology diffusion and encouraged the development of SMEs'. A survey was carried out among processed food SMEs' in Bogor. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was also conducted to gain more information. The speed of diffusion was calculated with simple statistics using Likert scale. The study showed that factors such as capability (skilled users), technology availability and accessibility, and governmental support were the factors that determine the speed of technology diffusion, which also encouraged the growth of SMEs'.
Being one of the many important tools to educate children, folktales are rarely evaluated. Parent... more Being one of the many important tools to educate children, folktales are rarely evaluated. Parents and educators tend to put too much trust on folktales that they never question values embedded in folktales. As a result, many folktales remain static despite the growth and change in society, which causes disconnection in the education of young generation. This is especially true in the Indonesian context. In this study, 199 Indonesians participated in the survey on their judgement of values embedded in today's Indonesian folktales and on the necessity to alter some folktales. The result of the survey suggests that the respondents can see the positive and negative elements incorporated in Indonesian folktales. This fact underlines the urgency of rewriting and reconstructing Indonesian folktales. This paper addresses the need to reconstruct those folktales that are not anymore suitable for today's society.

The study grouped those difficulties into two main categories, namely academic skills difficulties and language skills difficulties. It has been noticed that undergraduate as well as postgraduate students, lack the required skills enabling them to conduct a well-constructed research article, which sparkles the idea of this study. In addition, no previous study has examined the challenges encountered by Jordanian EFL students when conducting a research paper in general and the problem statement section in particular. For the purpose of collecting the required data of the present study, twenty Jordanian EFL students had a teaching program about research writing skills. They were introduced thoroughly to all sections of the research article, with special emphasis on the research problem, section which is the main concern of this study following that the participants were given a month period to accomplish their research papers before submission. The results of the study reveal that the participants lack the academic skills enabling them to conduct a well-constructed problem statement section. More specifically, the vast majority of the participants fail to provide an overview of their topics and to identify their research gap within the current literature. The study also shows that the participants face serious grammatical errors when writing research problem section. It could be concluded that conducting a scholarly research article in general and problem statement, in particular, is a demanding issue and need to be further highlighted by researchers and academicians to identify the challenges facing learners.
The purpose of the study was to determine the level of readiness in Mathematics of First Year Hig... more The purpose of the study was to determine the level of readiness in Mathematics of First Year High School students of Cluster 6 Tugbok Secondary Schools, Division of Davao City, Philippines. The test contained Mathematics learning competencies namely: Whole Numbers, Fractions, Decimals, Percentage, Geometry, Measurement and Graphs. It used descriptive quantitative method of research where means and standard deviations were computed to determine the level of mathematical readiness. Respondents were chosen through random sampling technique. Mean ratings based on the three achievement tests administered were very low for Grade 6, moderate for Grade 5 and high for Grade 4. Results showed that the respondents are prepared for Grade 5 level. Based on the t-test results on the significant difference in terms of mathematical readiness when analyzed by sex, it was established that female students were more prepared than male students. The results suggest an intervention program to be formulated in order to improve the level of Mathematical readiness of freshman students.

Angelicum College is the only nongraded school in the Philippines that offers a unique system of education to its learners. The very purpose of the study was to find out the assessment of the learners on the nongraded instructional system and their level of achievement in Mathematics , Science, and English. The study used the descriptive-correlational method with the survey questionnaire as which has three (3) major indicators: the Teaching/Learning Approach, Role of Facilitators, and Evaluation System. Descriptive statistics such as mean and standard deviation and Pearson Product Moment or Correlation Analysis were also utilized. The learners assessed that the nongraded instructional system in terms of teaching/learning approach, role of facilitator and evaluation system. A 50-item achievement test in Mathematics, Science, and English was administered to the learners. The assessment of learners on the nongraded instructional system shows that they agree with a mean of 4.05 on the teaching/learning approach; 4.15 on the role of facilitators; and 4.02 on the evaluation system, with standard deviations that show homogeneous responses among learners. The learners agree on the importance of the nongraded instructional system which is categorized by teaching/learning approach, role of facilitator, and evaluation system. The level of achievement of learners show a mean of 30.86 in Mathematics; 29.32 in Science; and 34.11 in English, with standard deviations that show variations of scores by about 6 to 9 points. No significant relationship exists between the assessment of the nongraded instructional system and the learners achievement in Mathematics, Science, and English. It is recommended that the curriculum be retained because individualized instruction is efficient and that constant upgrading and evaluation be conducted to identify its strengths and limitations. The administrators may guide in realizing novel activities or programs that might lead to the vision that through the years, the unique system of instruction in the country would somehow influence for higher achievement of the learners in totality. THE PROBLEM AND ITS BACKGROUND Education around the world is continuously seeking for educational systems, teaching and learning methods and strategies that will suffice the needs of the students and the industry. As our business world today is surrounded by highly technical machines, students and individuals are lured to spend most of their time on it. There are a few steps on the gamification approach that have been applied by several researchers in this era. The gamification method was used in this study, which contained game elements and game design methods in a non-game context. Six gamification categories for teaching and learning are briefly discussed in this paper: (i) Courses without online support; (ii) MOOC; (iii) Blended/ Flipped Learning; (iv) E-Learning Site; (v) Gamified Platform/ System; and (vi) Mobile Application. The proposed gamification approach in education can also be a guideline for other researchers. Results shows that most of the respondents prefer to get rewards during the learning process follow by level, avatar and points. INTRODUCTION Gamification is the concept of applying game mechanics to engage and motivate students in learning. In other words, games nowadays are a part of students daily life. They spend a lot of time to play games. In order to engage student learning, the gamification method was used, which contained game elements and game design methods in a non-game context. Furthermore, using this method can help to improve learning engagement, suit learners learning style, and provide more adaptive learning. This gamification method has been used by researchers since a few years ago. Past studies showed that there was less engagement among students in building knowledge because often times, the students were treated as ordinary technology users (Tan & Hew, 2016). The solution of accessing this information freely is needed to overcome this situation. Several researchers stated that gamification has the potential for a positive impact on performance, productivity, and user engagement (Simões, Redondo, & Vilas, 2013). By implementing gamification, students will improve themselves in getting good results. The utilisation of the gamification method means that students will learn with academic materials with the use of game elements and cater different styles of learning (Arockiyasamy, Surendheran, & Bullard, 2016; McGrath & Bayerlein, 2013). Specifically this study aims to: (1) to know the perceptions of teachers and principals on the use of picture books, (2) to grow the desire of teachers and principals in making picture books. The approach used in this research is Research and Development (R&D). Research subjects were teachers, principals, students, school committees, elements of the Education Office, selected by cluster sampling area. The first years research has produced a pictorial book product and then into the second years study of need assessment, teacher capacity building, school principals and school committees. The data collection techniques used were questionnaires, observations, interviews and Focus Group Discussion (FGD). The data were analyzed descriptively qualitative. The second year research results obtained data on the condition of the 60 Elementary School selected as a place of study, as follows. (1) The sixty elementary schools assessed, it shows that there are some who have the ability and desire to make their own picture book and some have not grown desire in making picture books. (2) FGD results indicate the desire and ability of teachers in designing picture story books has grown despite the various limitations. The teacher's interest in designing his own picture story book hits the limitations of publishing access and knowledge of the book publishing flow. (3) Learning picture book should be given in an integrated manner with the study of Natural Sciences (IPA).

In order to meet society's need, they had established Base Transceiver Stations (BTSs) as part of the telecommunication tower. Rampant of the tower constructions was not always heeded; "did the company get approval or not?". While, tower construction approval was very important as one of the administrative and technical specifications. In fact, unorganized tower construction would have a serious impact on space and land usage, such as reducing of open green area and spatial aesthetic value brought to a new problem, a conflict between communities and the tower's owner (none of the telecommunication providers), etc. In this way, the existence of local act draft on development, control, and telecommunication tower supervision was needed in order to provide legal certainty in tower construction. This research was a normative research (dogmatic legal research) with data inventory method, formulating problem, and preparation of Local Act Draft Model on Development, Control, and Telecommunication Tower Supervision. In this paper, an in depth study of a strategy process based drawings is presented, that initiated profound discussions, an open atmosphere and resulted in fresh insights and new perspectives. Based on the empirical data it is shown, that the paintings themselves became an important structural factor influencing the interaction system of the strategy meeting in a way that made these positive results appear. The findings show how knowing aesthetically gives access to a rich experience, and, therefore, complements cognitive knowledge.

Political advertising has become one of the main political information sources during election campaign. In political advertising, political advertisements are designed to serve multiple purposes, whether to persuade, influence, attack, inform or manipulate the voters' information-seeking. Meanwhile, the role of young voters in political process is a crucial study that needs to be addressed by scholars. Researchers in this field are eager to know how this target group uses political information to meet their information needs and usage. Therefore, in this study, an exploratory study by using Sense Making Methodology (SMM) was conducted to understand how young voters' political situation affects their information needs and usage. The participants of the study consist of nine universities' students from Klang Valley. The findings show that political advertisements do have an impact on their political situation and voting decision. Some important political issues do influence their political situation. In this exploratory study, parents do play a significant role in influencing young voters' political situation. Therefore, this paper will discuss the role of political advertising in voters' information-seeking and voting behaviour.
Diffusion of technology plays an important role in the development of Small Medium Enterprises (S... more Diffusion of technology plays an important role in the development of Small Medium Enterprises (SMEs'), but diffusion process needs time. Analyzing the speed of diffusion is important to the growth of SMEs'. Time length for the adoption of technology that diffused was varied. Some technologies need a long time to be adopted; the others only take a short time. If technology diffusion could be sped up, can it be adopted immediately? Study of technology diffusion and its role in the growth of SMEs' was conducted among SMEs' of processed food, and it showed that many factors affected the speed of technology diffusion and encouraged the development of SMEs'. A survey was carried out among processed food SMEs' in Bogor. Focus Group Discussion (FGD) was also conducted to gain more information. The speed of diffusion was calculated with simple statistics using Likert scale. The study showed that factors such as capability (skilled users), technology availability and accessibility, and governmental support were the factors that determine the speed of technology diffusion, which also encouraged the growth of SMEs'.
Being one of the many important tools to educate children, folktales are rarely evaluated. Parent... more Being one of the many important tools to educate children, folktales are rarely evaluated. Parents and educators tend to put too much trust on folktales that they never question values embedded in folktales. As a result, many folktales remain static despite the growth and change in society, which causes disconnection in the education of young generation. This is especially true in the Indonesian context. In this study, 199 Indonesians participated in the survey on their judgement of values embedded in today's Indonesian folktales and on the necessity to alter some folktales. The result of the survey suggests that the respondents can see the positive and negative elements incorporated in Indonesian folktales. This fact underlines the urgency of rewriting and reconstructing Indonesian folktales. This paper addresses the need to reconstruct those folktales that are not anymore suitable for today's society.
