Thyroid malignancies have been reported in approximately 1% of TGDRs. In previous reports of TGDR carcinoma, patients had radiographic evidence of a TGDR at initial clinical presentation. Alternatively, hypertrophy of a TGDR is well described in patients with hypothyroidism because of the growth of functional ectopic thyroid tissue. We present the case of a patient who had no radiographic evidence of a TGDR prior to thyroidectomy but presented 14 months after surgery with a recurrent cervical mass. A 58-year-old female underwent total thyroidectomy for micropapillary thyroid cancer. Fourteen months later, she presented with an enlarging cervical mass. She underwent a Sistrunk procedure, and surgical pathology revealed a TGDR with compensatory glandular hypertrophy. To our knowledge, this is the first report of a TGDR follicular adenoma initially appe...

Few will persist more than 3 months in those cases; it is called Chronic OME. Two theories explain its pathogenesis: Ex vacuo theory and inflammatory theory. Young age, craniofacial anomalies, allergic rhinitis, passive smoking, daycare attendance, genetic predisposition, and gastroesophageal reflux are among many other risk factors that increase the susceptibility to OME. Conductive hearing loss is the most common complaint in symptomatic patients. There are different otoscopic findings seen in OME, and tympanometry plays a crucial role in diagnosis, especially when the diagnosis is not precise by physical examination. The nasal steroid can be beneficial in OME, and tympanostomy tubes’ (TT) insertion can be considered in certain cases of OME. This chapter will have a closer look at OME; it discusses e...

Studies have found that students who change their major late in their education are more likely to graduate from the institution at which they started than those who switch before their 5th semester. At its conception, the purpose of Don 't Panic: A Music Student 's Journey was to serve as an informative source for those interested in the Music Therapy Program at Utah State University, reflecting on both the requirements and the process through the experience of one student. In the time since , the author changed majors , and additional intentions were added-to provide an experiential model that could support students who may find themselves in a similar position of change and self-discovery. [n order to achieve this goal , the author developed a program of music to best embody her emotions through the undergraduate experience. A script was then written , detailing the events around each song , and a PowerPoint presentation was created to support the music, and house narrations of the script. The presentation took place on April 3rd , 2018. I would like to thank the man y wh o helped me to successfully carry out this culmination of my undergraduate degre e. The primary support through the process was Professor Letha Winger , music therapy clinical training coordinator and my project mentor. I would like to thank her for unceasing support and patience with me over my IO semesters at Utah State , but especially since I changed my major in December 2017. The time and guidance she has given, as well as her desire for me to succeed not only in school but in life, have far exceeded any obligations she has had as my mentor. I would also like to thank Dr. Maureen Hearns, director of the music therap y program , for her help, belief in me , and all I learned from her while in the program. I am grateful for the time and input she and Dr. Cory Evans have dedicated to helping this project happen as member s of my Bachelor of Arts Capstone committee. I am grateful for the time and preparation of Kealey Bladen , my accompanist , and Kaitlin Rodgers , who helped with my pre sentation. Dr. Kristine Miller , Amber Summers-Graham , and Lisa Hunsaker all have my gratitude for be lieving in me supporting me in completing the honor s program. Finally, my parents , Marcus and Kari Anjewierden , for fostering a love of music in me , supporting me in becoming a music major , and supporting and loving me in countle ss other ways. I would not be where I am today without their sacrifices and determination to help me succeed and pursue my dreams. This project represents an important part of my life, and I am deeply grateful for all who have been a part of that story in some way: family , practicum

This chapter emphasizes on the developmental courses to better understand the comparative and actual anatomical results concerning the human middle ear structures. Also it is admitted that the middle ear is a fragile organ with weak defense mechanisms against invaders! Why?

The prevalence of CSOM remains considerable with a huge impact on the health systems.

Nowadays a good counseling of the patients requires the use of modern available investigation methods to detect the correct causal diagnosis before undergoing any otologic intervention.

Our proposal was approved by the Ethics and Research Committee of Hamad Medical Corporation (Ref RC/1055 ). Children between the ages of 2 to 10, admitted for adenoidectomy as a day care procedure were recruited for the study. Proper consents and assents were taken for involvement in the study and data was kept confidential in accordance with IRB standards. The following data was collected preoperatively from the parents of all children regarding age, gender, nationality, nasal symptoms, asthma, eczema, family history, previous ENT surgeries and general medical problems. Children with obstructive sleep apnea, hematological disorders, immunodeficiency diseases, craniofacial syndromes, history of previous adenoidectomy and those who needed tonsillectomy were excluded from the study. Blood samples were collected, from included children, for serum total IgE and serum allergen specific IgE antibodies to inhalant allergens at the time of preoperative assessment or during intravenous induction for general anesthesia. Data was coded and entered into a computer and processed using the Statistical Packages for Social Sciences SPSS, (windows version 21.0). Descriptive statistics in the form of mean, SD, range for in-
