Ethiopia, a country with one of the least developed economies, has made considerable efforts to strengthen its higher education; yet university student attrition remains a major concern. In this study, we utilized the data mining methodology to reveal the important factors that impact dropout among the Ethiopian university students. The current research results indicate that personal, institutional, and academic factors affect university student dropout. In Ethiopia, low-performing rural female students are more likely to drop out than male students, according to the findings of this study. In general, rural lowachieving students have a greater likelihood of dropping out of university. This is likely to occur during the students' first semester of study, especially if they have a poor attendance rate. This research contributes to the body of knowledge by indicating that university remedial programs may be successful in reducing the incidents of students' dropout. The current research has implications for policymakers in the least developed nations, such as Ethiopia, to construct dropout intervention programs based on the factors identified in this research.

Hotels can survive, thrive, and excel if they can satisfy guests and earn positive online reviews. This study determines the factors influencing online hotel ratings in a significant and minor way. This research chose Saudi Arabia's most important religious city, Makkah. This study analyzes consumer reviews found on the Booking.com website. Facilities, comfort, cleanliness, location, and staff all significantly impact online hotel ratings, whereas breakfast and complimentary Wi-Fi have a minor impact. The hotels in Makkah can use this study's findings to increase customer traffic, increase revenue, and contribute to Saudi Vision 2030. By addressing the identified significant and minor factors, hotels in religious destinations can improve their online ratings and customer satisfaction.

Student dropout and its economic and social consequences are significant issues in developing cou... more Student dropout and its economic and social consequences are significant issues in developing countries. Students who drop out experience reduced employment prospects and encounter social stigma. While early dropout prediction can assist in mitigating the consequences, it remains a considerable challenge. The present research employed a data mining approach to predict dropout of public health master-level students in Saudi Arabia, a developing nation that has invested considerable resources to promote higher education. The research model focused on three fundamental determinants of students’ dropout: individual, institutional, and academic. The study analysis on a dataset of 150 students revealed that all three determinants predicted student dropout. The results indicated that students with low academic performance who received an academic warning were likelier to drop out. Freshmen with poor academic achievement were particularly at risk of dropping out of college. Students between 31 and 36 years old who attended technical courses as a subject specialization could also dropout. The research contributes to the literature by suggesting that universities should consider these individual, institutional, and academic determinants to develop their dropout prevention strategies. This study has ramifications for university administrators in developing nations, such as Saudi Arabia, who can establish dropout prevention programs based on the determinants revealed in this study.

Tremendous benefits have accrued to developed and some developing countries due to globalization. However, underdeveloped countries are deprived of these benefits. Worst is the case for underdeveloped regions. Such is the case of north-eastern region of India. It has been neglected by the Government of India (GoI) since India came into being. "Look East" Policy, which was initiated in 1991, marked a strategic shift in India’s perspective of the world. GoI sought to develop closer and better relations with the South East Asian countries. This brought the importance of northeastern region to the forefront. To forge deep relations with neighboring countries, GoI embarked on an ambitious project of building 1400 km long road corridor from Moreh (in India) to Mae Sot (in Thailand) via Bagan (in Myanmar) among others. This trilateral highway project is a joint effort of the India and Thailand government in collaboration with Myanmar. In this paper, a conceptual framework involving concepts like geopolitical thought, logistics and regionalism have been discussed. Besides, Porter’s diamond model has been explained to strengthen the argument of regional cooperation. The prospects and potential of northeastern region of India have been discussed. Further, the linkages between Thailand and northeastern region of India have been explored to build a case for tri-lateral project. It comes out that this project would be of immense benefit to the two countries in particular and the South-East Asia in general. Finally, certain focus areas have been suggested for the development of a comprehensive transport policy on the basis of sub-regional transportation network between India and Thailand.

It has been promoted as a way to overcome the systemic inequalities in food access and increase sustainable food practices. A growing body of studies has highlighted the impact of income, food prices, and internet ac-cess/connection on shaping people’s behavior in buying groceries online. However, there is a dearth of prior studies that have examined the impact of these three factors at the macro/meso level. Therefore, this paper presents an analysis of these factors from a sample of 16 Russian regions with a combined population size of more than 44 million people. We used a fixed effects linear regression model to analyze panel data on median income, mobile internet connection, food price index, and online grocery sales. Our results show the significant impact of income and imply that while online grocery shopping holds huge promise for overcoming unequal access to food and achieving sustainability, entrenched challenges such as poverty and income inequality might be difficult to shake off.

Nevertheless, only a few studies have empirically investigated the same, particularly among university students. Recently, multimedia technology has included upcoming technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and virtual reality. This study empirically investigates the impact of multimedia technology on the development of university students' learning agility and creativity. In this study, we employed a quantitative methodology. We surveyed 318 university students to accomplish the research objectives. The study's findings underscore that availableness and multimedia technology deployment are vital to developing university students' learning agility and creativity. The study contributes to the literature regarding technology adoption and skill enhancement. Additionally, the findings of the study aid in the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030 by increasing awareness of multimedia technology use to foster university students learning agility and creativity.
Domain names have a dual role in today's internet driven market place-to map IP addresses and to ... more Domain names have a dual role in today's internet driven market place-to map IP addresses and to act as identifier of trademark of a company. Unlike trademarks, domain names are not sufficiently protected by the laws of a country. There is no uniformity to protect domain names among the laws of various countries. In order to protect the domain names and bring uniformity, ICANN developed the Uniform Domain Name Resolution Policy (UDRP). In this research, the various kinds of domain name abuses are identified. The application of UDRP, domain name registration process and dispute resolution service process are examined. The major domain name dispute cases resolved under UPRP by WIPO are studied. It has been found that UDRP is applicable to generic top level domains (gTLDs) and new gTLDs. It is much less relevant for country code top level domains (ccTLDs). The losing party still has the option of appealing to a court of competent jurisdiction in case of gTLDs and new gTLDs. However, this option is seldom exercised. In order to protect the domain names in a better way, there is a need to bring uniformity to domain name laws of various countries. ICANN should formulate a model domain names dispute resolution law for adoption by various countries. Also, there is a need to strengthen the UDRP.
The article employs auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) cointegration and error-correction mod... more The article employs auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) cointegration and error-correction modelling to study the long-run impact of investment, exports, imports, and three components of government expenditures (expenditures on health, education, and other government spending) on GDP growth in Saudi Arabia from 1985 to 2018. We observe the long-run positive relationship between GDP, investment, exports and government education expenditure, but a negative relationship between GDP, imports, government health spending, and government other expenditures. The analysis reveals that investment, exports, and government educational expenditures all have long-run positive effects on the GDP growth, while imports, government health expenditures, and government other expenditures negatively affect GDP growth in Saudi Arabia. The Toda-Yamamoto causality test that applies the Modified Wald test establishes causality from exports, government education spending, and government health spending to GDP. We deduce that education expenditures stimulate economic growth in Saudi Arabia in contrast to health expenditures. Additionally, we infer that the various categories of government expenditures have varying effects on GDP. This necessitates a prudent sectoral allocation of public expenditures to maximize its positive effects on GDP growth and stimulate economic growth in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, the above findings have policy implications for the government in Saudi Arabia while allocating its expenditures. Allocating more government expenditures to education, cutting down inessential spending, and downsizing government healthcare expenditures will enhance long-run economic growth in Saudi Arabia. In cloud computing, ICT resource requirement can be adjusted easily and quickly in response to changes in demand. It is a scalable virtualized development platform that has the potential to provide pay-per-use services to customers over the Internet/network by deploying hardware and software resources. In this paper, the evolution of cloud computing is traced in 10 phases, starting from the development of calculating machine in 1623. An ICT model for cloud computing has been presented. In order to leverage the benefits of cloud computing successfully, a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of cloud computing is carried out. The paper also presents the details of cloud computing innovative applications in various organizations. Lastly, a hybrid cloud computing model for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the developing countries is proposed. The results obtained for the hybrid cloud model demonstrated the feasibility of the model. It appears that the research base in cloud computing and hybrid model in particular is strong and possesses potential to help in the development of effective industrial applications. However, a proper need-benefit analysis should be carried out to hedge the restrictions and challenges faced by cloud computing.

Saudi Arabia experiences the highest cyber-attacks in the Arab region. This research attempts to develop a cyber-security legal framework for Saudi Arabia in particular and other countries in general. The study uses coercive, normative, and mimetic forces of institutional theory for this endeavor. Coercive pressure manifests in legal instruments, so countries like Saudi Arabia need to ensure compliance of their organizations to their respective laws, regulations, security policies, and procedures. Normative force manifests in professional networks and community expectations. So, countries like Saudi Arabia should collaborate, share information with other countries and join the Budapest Convention to combat cyber-crimes. Saudi Arabia should sufficiently incorporate the provisions of the Arab Convention on Combating Information Technology Offences in its legal instruments. Mimetic force involves copying the actions and practices of successful organizations. The cutting performance was evaluated in terms of cutting length and tool wear. However, the milling tests were performed at finishing cutting conditions with a two fluted solid carbide ball nose end mill (diameter d is 16 mm, TiCN coating). Nevertheless, this investigation focuses mainly on the flank wear of ball nose end mill. It was found from the results that, the dominant wear mechanism was abrasive wear. Further, the flanks wear increases brutally at a specific cutting length or time. This is made when the coating layer vanished.

However, there is a dearth of prior studies that have examined the impact of these three factors at the macro/meso level. Therefore, this paper presents an analysis of these factors from a sample of 16 Russian regions with a combined population size of more than 44 million people. We used a fixed effects linear regression model to analyze panel data on median income, mobile internet connection, food price index, and online grocery sales. Our results show the significant impact of income and imply that while online grocery shopping holds huge promise for overcoming unequal access to food and achieving sustainability, entrenched challenges such as poverty and income inequality might be difficult to shake off.

This is especially vital for Saudi Arabia's higher education sector, where significant resources have been invested under the Vision 2030 program. Recently, multimedia technology has included upcoming technologies such as artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and virtual reality. This study empirically investigates the impact of multimedia technology on the development of university students' learning agility and creativity. In this study, we employed a quantitative methodology. We surveyed 318 university students to accomplish the research objectives. The study's findings underscore that availableness and multimedia technology deployment are vital to developing university students' learning agility and creativity. The study contributes to the literature regarding technology adoption and skill enhancement. Additionally, the findings of the study aid in the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030 by increasing awareness of multimedia technology use to foster university students learning agility and creativity.
Domain names have a dual role in today's internet driven market place-to map IP addresses and to ... more Domain names have a dual role in today's internet driven market place-to map IP addresses and to act as identifier of trademark of a company. Unlike trademarks, domain names are not sufficiently protected by the laws of a country. There is no uniformity to protect domain names among the laws of various countries. In order to protect the domain names and bring uniformity, ICANN developed the Uniform Domain Name Resolution Policy (UDRP). In this research, the various kinds of domain name abuses are identified. The application of UDRP, domain name registration process and dispute resolution service process are examined. The major domain name dispute cases resolved under UPRP by WIPO are studied. It has been found that UDRP is applicable to generic top level domains (gTLDs) and new gTLDs. It is much less relevant for country code top level domains (ccTLDs). The losing party still has the option of appealing to a court of competent jurisdiction in case of gTLDs and new gTLDs. However, this option is seldom exercised. In order to protect the domain names in a better way, there is a need to bring uniformity to domain name laws of various countries. ICANN should formulate a model domain names dispute resolution law for adoption by various countries. Also, there is a need to strengthen the UDRP.
The article employs auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) cointegration and error-correction mod... more The article employs auto-regressive distributed lag (ARDL) cointegration and error-correction modelling to study the long-run impact of investment, exports, imports, and three components of government expenditures (expenditures on health, education, and other government spending) on GDP growth in Saudi Arabia from 1985 to 2018. We observe the long-run positive relationship between GDP, investment, exports and government education expenditure, but a negative relationship between GDP, imports, government health spending, and government other expenditures. The analysis reveals that investment, exports, and government educational expenditures all have long-run positive effects on the GDP growth, while imports, government health expenditures, and government other expenditures negatively affect GDP growth in Saudi Arabia. The Toda-Yamamoto causality test that applies the Modified Wald test establishes causality from exports, government education spending, and government health spending to GDP. We deduce that education expenditures stimulate economic growth in Saudi Arabia in contrast to health expenditures. Additionally, we infer that the various categories of government expenditures have varying effects on GDP. This necessitates a prudent sectoral allocation of public expenditures to maximize its positive effects on GDP growth and stimulate economic growth in Saudi Arabia. Moreover, the above findings have policy implications for the government in Saudi Arabia while allocating its expenditures. Allocating more government expenditures to education, cutting down inessential spending, and downsizing government healthcare expenditures will enhance long-run economic growth in Saudi Arabia. In cloud computing, ICT resource requirement can be adjusted easily and quickly in response to changes in demand. It is a scalable virtualized development platform that has the potential to provide pay-per-use services to customers over the Internet/network by deploying hardware and software resources. In this paper, the evolution of cloud computing is traced in 10 phases, starting from the development of calculating machine in 1623. An ICT model for cloud computing has been presented. In order to leverage the benefits of cloud computing successfully, a SWOT (Strengths, Weaknesses, Opportunities and Threats) analysis of cloud computing is carried out. The paper also presents the details of cloud computing innovative applications in various organizations. Lastly, a hybrid cloud computing model for Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) operating in the developing countries is proposed. The results obtained for the hybrid cloud model demonstrated the feasibility of the model. It appears that the research base in cloud computing and hybrid model in particular is strong and possesses potential to help in the development of effective industrial applications. However, a proper need-benefit analysis should be carried out to hedge the restrictions and challenges faced by cloud computing.

Saudi Arabia experiences the highest cyber-attacks in the Arab region. This research attempts to develop a cyber-security legal framework for Saudi Arabia in particular and other countries in general. The study uses coercive, normative, and mimetic forces of institutional theory for this endeavor. Coercive pressure manifests in legal instruments, so countries like Saudi Arabia need to ensure compliance of their organizations to their respective laws, regulations, security policies, and procedures. Normative force manifests in professional networks and community expectations. So, countries like Saudi Arabia should collaborate, share information with other countries and join the Budapest Convention to combat cyber-crimes. Saudi Arabia should sufficiently incorporate the provisions of the Arab Convention on Combating Information Technology Offences in its legal instruments. Mimetic force involves copying the actions and practices of successful organizations. So, countries like Saudi Arabia should improve their legal tools by incorporating key features of legal instruments of more advanced cyber-secure nations like the UK, USA, Singapore, etc. Specifically, Saudi Arabia should improve its legal tools in the areas of privacy, identity theft, cyber-bullying, etc.

The cutting performance was evaluated in terms of cutting length and tool wear. However, the milling tests were performed at finishing cutting conditions with a two fluted solid carbide ball nose end mill (diameter d is 16 mm, TiCN coating). Nevertheless, this investigation focuses mainly on the flank wear of ball nose end mill. It was found from the results that, the dominant wear mechanism was abrasive wear. Further, the flanks wear increases brutally at a specific cutting length or time. This is made when the coating layer vanished.

This research empirically analyzes the impact of board-level IT governance on the performance and earnings management practices of Saudi Arabian stock exchange (Tadawul)-listed companies between 2008 and 2020. The study sample includes cross-sectional time-series data from 154 firms with 18,018 firm-year observations. This study used regression analysis and other econometric models to examine probable endogeneities. In this research work, an in-depth study has been carried out on different facets of SCF. Organizational study has been carried out in 60 Indian organizations to identify organizational challenges and desirable responses. The problems of organizations in SCF are ascertained. At the same time, the reasons of organizations to focus on SCF are determined. Perceptual study has been carried out with 300 SCF experts to discover the facets of SCF for effective organizational management. It comes out that SCF streamlines business processes, enhances physical as well as financial supply chain visibility and mitigates financial risk. Perceptual study has been carried out with 300 CF experts to identify and examine the desirable characteristics of CF information technology (IT) platform. It comes out that visibility of entire supply chain financial information; channel collaborations; and leveraging external expertise for financial risk sharing are the cornerstone of value creation. Furthermore, integrated CF IT platform provides better security for financial information exchange as well as better data consistency for process integration over singular optimization.
