They proposed a parameterized initial storage condition to increase degrees of freedom of the model. For the parameter estimation, a weed optimization algorithm (WOA) was applied. The authors of the discussed paper applied their methodology on three flood routing examples (including a smooth single peak hydrograph, a non-smooth single peak hydrograph and a multiple peak hydrograph) for comparison purposes in the calibration phase. While the author’s intention is laudable, the discussers would like to add a few points.
