In this essay, we intend to study in depth the political and intellectual influences that helped ... more In this essay, we intend to study in depth the political and intellectual influences that helped to configure the ideology of Josep Puig i Cadafalch and in his conception of medieval art and, specially, Romanesque art. He defines himself in his memories as an «unfinished man» and this fact leads him to the rethinking and
constant reformulation of his ideas and postulates, as if they were an outline of a project that has to be rectified. Therefore, his influencers will be multiple and constant in time. From the influences received at the Escola Pia and the University, where he opened his eyes to the political identity of Catalonia as a country without state, to the conception and esteem of medieval heritage as a tool to recover the essences of that country and as a tool to refurbish a new style. Throughout this article will present the ideas and the influences of people who left mark in his
character and ideas will be presented.
