The Italian debate on the so-called ‘inner areas’ has received a much-needed boost, following the... more The Italian debate on the so-called ‘inner areas’ has received a much-needed boost, following the COVID-19 pandemic, which has further highlighted the differences between metropolitan and inner areas. While the progressive depopulation of inner areas is a worrying phenomenon, the limits of incessant urbanisation and the concentration of settlement and infrastructure policies in large conurbations have become evident. Departing from the framework of the B4R-Branding4Resilience research project of national interest and, by continuing in the furrow initiated by the SNAI, but also surpassing it, the aim of the University of Palermo’s research is to define the requirement for a more inclusive settlement model in the Sicani area in Sicily (Italy) to re-balance existing asymmetries by recharging peripheral areas with new centrality. Il contributo ricostruisce la storia del patrimonio gastronomico amaticiano: una storia di relazi... more Il contributo ricostruisce la storia del patrimonio gastronomico amaticiano: una storia di relazioni transcalari legate al lungo processo di emigrazione che nei secoli ha portato la comunit\ue0 amatriciana a trasferirsi a Roma. Si ripercorre in che modo la comunit\ue0 abbia costruito la tua tradizione gastronomica - intesa come patrimonio culturale, oltre che economico - nella relazione mobile tra pi\uf9 luoghi. Un processo di costruzione di simboli e capitali collettivi fortemente transcalare che affonda le radici nell'origine transumante della comunit\ue0 amatriciana, di cui il volume nel complesso si occupa. The aim of this paper is to analyse, through the toolbox of gender geography, the methodology of ... more The aim of this paper is to analyse, through the toolbox of gender geography, the methodology of positionality and situated knowledge. The article examines some spatial practices of the transfeminist movement Non Una di Meno that involve us both as researchers and activists. The different forms of territorialisation and ways of “doing with” the space of the movement, are here presented through the specific cases of the demonstrations organised during the Covid-19 pandemic on the 25th of November 2020 and 8th March 2021. This enables us to present the methodology of positionality, and to analyse how feminist spatial practices can be the object of research and vice versa.

To reach this aim, the study provides a discourse analysis of three main level: the official institutional discourses declaimed by the government and the health authority; the risk narration spread through the diaphragm of the Italian press, and specifically through two of the most-read newspapers in Italy (Repubblica and Corriere della Sera) and their related weeklies (Venerdi di Repubblica and Sette); finally, the diverse reactions and perceptions to the risk coming from the most affected and most vulnerable subjects, communities and territories. In order to record this narrative frame, our study started by looking for the more recurrent keywords through which the public discourse about COVID-19 emergency was spread in Italy. This article analyses the performance organised by Non Una Di Meno-Palermo for the 2020 Internati... more This article analyses the performance organised by Non Una Di Meno-Palermo for the 2020 International Day for the elimination of Violence against Women and gender-based. During the demonstration, the urban space has been re-signified by a ‘Handmaid’, with regard to the novel and the TV-series The handmaid’s tale (Atwood, 1985). Used many times by the transfemminist movements to represent women’s body control and discipline, the Handmaid representation takes on further meanings in the Covid-19 pandemic framework. This paper examines the performance by analysing on the one hand its spatial aspects, in connection with other forms of movements’ spatialisation; on the other hand, the mobilised (trans)feminist imaginaries, between pop seduction and resignifications. Il pericolo è lo stravolgimento mercificante che città e territori conoscono per effetto di una violenta colonizzazione turistica.
Sappiamo che il turismo, specie nella sua pervasività monoculturale, produce impatti ed esternalità negative: al pari di una vera e propria politica industriale orienta scelte infrastrutturali, generando uno sfruttamento intensivo di risorse patrimoniali e ambientali; mina il diritto all’abitare e le tutele dei lavoratori; riduce le possibilità d’uso dello spazio pubblico.
Ciò che salva è invece la capacità di resistenza che i nostri territori riescono a esprimere: una capacità che è insieme conflitto e contro-progettualità.
La mappatura contenuta in questo Atlante costituisce un primo ritratto nazionale di questo potenziale salvifico. Si tratta di una partitura di frammenti indiziari, territorialmente ancorati, che tracciano possibili fuoriuscite dal paradigma estrattivo di tipo turistico. Un modo per mettere in discussione quelle logiche di reificazione territoriale per cui il consumo, la produzione e circolazione di merci costituisce l’unico orizzonte di senso che obbliga il presente a pensarsi senza alternative.

Sappiamo che il turismo, specie nella sua pervasività monoculturale, produce impatti ed esternalità negative: al pari di una vera e propria politica industriale orienta scelte infrastrutturali, generando uno sfruttamento intensivo di risorse patrimoniali e ambientali; mina il diritto all’abitare e le tutele dei lavoratori; riduce le possibilità d’uso dello spazio pubblico.
Ciò che salva è invece la capacità di resistenza che i nostri territori riescono a esprimere: una capacità che è insieme conflitto e contro-progettualità.
La mappatura contenuta in questo Atlante costituisce un primo ritratto nazionale di questo potenziale salvifico. Si tratta di una partitura di frammenti indiziari, territorialmente ancorati, che tracciano possibili fuoriuscite dal paradigma estrattivo di tipo turistico. Un modo per mettere in discussione quelle logiche di reificazione territoriale per cui il consumo, la produzione e circolazione di merci costituisce l’unico orizzonte di senso che obbliga il presente a pensarsi senza alternative.
