There were reported 31 cases of IUD migration into the bladder until 2006. Although IUD migration is asymptomatic, it should be removed to prevent complications such as pelvic abscess, bladder or intestinal rupture, and adhesion. A 52-year-old woman came to the urology clinic with pyuria since the previous 3 months. She had a history of IUD insertion in 1982; and two months later, she got pregnant. Since 2015, she has suffered from dysuria but has never been treated and has worsened in the past 3 months. On physical examination, tenderness was found in the suprapubic region. The results of urinalysis showed pyuria and hematuria. The ultrasonography findings, there were large bladder stones. An abdominal x-ray revealed the presence of a bladder stone with the IUD tail. Vesicolithotomy was performed and the IUD was found attached to an 11x7 cm bladder stone. The patient had a good postoperative condition...

It is the fourth most common cancer in men and eighth most common women malignancy in the world. This makes bladder cancer a “silent killer” and it needs appropriate treatment planning. Single immediate instillation of chemotherapy after transurethral resection of the bladder (TURB) is recommended by EAU guideline, but its use remains a controversy. Objective: Study aimed to analyze benefit of intravesical chemotherapy following TURB in terms of recurrency of non-muscle invasive bladder cancer (NMIBC). Methods: Systematic review and meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials comparing the efficacy of a single instillation after TURB with TURB alone in NMIBC (pTa-pT1) patients was conducted. Studies searched throughout Medline, PubMed, Embase, and Cochrane in December 2018. Keywords were intravesical chemotherapy...

Pharmacological therapy by inhibiting the androgen receptor (AR) can inhibit prostate cancer progression. Tea leaves (Camellia sinensis) are believed to inhibit the prostate cancer progression but the mechanism is still unknown. Therefore, research on the mechanism by in silico study is needed with the AR as target protein. Methods: The effectivity of tea leaves’ active compound to inhibit androgen receptor was evaluated by docking server with abiraterone acetate as a control. The tea leaves' active compounds consist of catechin, epicatechin, epigallocatechin gallate, epigallocatechin, gallate epicatechin, gallocatechin gallate, and gallocatechinResults: The result showed that epicatechin, epigallocatechin, and gallocatechin have lower free binding energy (ΔG) and high amino acid residue similarity on AR compare...

This study aims to define the predictor factors for worse outcomes in kidney transplant patients infected with SARS-CoV-2 and affected by coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). We have analyzed in these patients their prior medical history, their clinical symptoms, and their laboratory results. Method: We assessed outcomes of kidney transplant patients with confirmed COVID-19 until July 2021 from PubMed, Medline, Science Direct, Cochrane databases, EMBASE, Scopus, and EBSCO. We performed metaanalyses of nine published studies to estimate predictor factors. The analysis was analyzed by the Newcastle-Ottawa Scale (NOS) and then using the Review Manager 5.4 software. Result: Our analysis demonstrated that the most significant risk factors for the worse COVID-19 outcomes for kidney transplant patients included: age of 60 and older [MD 9.31(95% CI, 6.31-12.30), p < 0.0001, I2 = 76%], diabetic nephropathy [OR 2.13 (95% CI, 1.49-3.04), p < 0.0001, I2 = 76%], dyspnea [OR 4.53, (95% CI, 2.22-9.22), p < 0.0001, I2 = 76%], acute kidney injury (AKI) [OR 4.53 (95% CI, 1.10-5.21), p = 0.03, I2 = 58%], and some laboratory markers. Many patients had two or multiple risk factors in combination. Conclusion: Age and several comorbidities were the most significant factors for COVID-19 outcomes for kidney transplant recipients.

Over the past decade 6978 Indonesian were diagnosed with bladder cancer. In Dr. Saiful Anwar Hospital itself, 287 inpatient were hospitalized due to bladder cancer over the past 5 years. Bladder cancer therapy including, radical cystectomy, radiotherapy and chemotherapy depending on the tumor’s stage. Patients requiring chemotherapy, are given six course of Gemcitabine-Cisplatin regiment. Body Mass Index (BMI) acclaimed to take part in cancer treatment outcome, therefore this study aimed to compared body mass index with bladder tumor outcome in bladder cancer patients receiving six course of Gemcitabine-Cisplatin chemotherapy. Method: Fifteen bladder cancer patients with different BMI underwent (transurethral resection of bladder tumor) TURBT staging and received six course of Gemcitabine...
