Among the tested iodo derivatives, compounds 3b and 9a possess interesting activities against the aforesaid fungal strains in several cases similar to that of benodanil I taken as reference drug.

The concept of aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs) or aerosol-generating medical procedures (AGM... more The concept of aerosol-generating procedures (AGPs) or aerosol-generating medical procedures (AGMPs) was developed by the World Health Organization (WHO) and the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) in the wake of the outbreaks of Ebola (1). An AGP is defined as any medical procedure that can induce the production of aerosols of various sizes, including small (<5 μm) particles (2). The implication is that aerosols are associated with a greater risk of transmission to others, including health care workers (HCWs). The original list of AGPs compiled by the WHO included such terms as intubation, extubation, manual ventilation, open suctioning, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, bronchoscopy, surgery, and postmortem procedures involving highspeed devices, for example, in some dental procedures (eg, drilling); noninvasive ventilation such as bi-level positive airway pressure (BiPAP) and continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) ventilation, high-frequency oscillating ventilation (HFOV), and induction of sputum (3). A subsequent meta-analysis sought to determine the published evidence for transmission of acute respiratory infections to HCWs from patients undergoing AGPs and comparing the incidence to that of the risk from patients not undergoing AGPs (4). A total of 5 case-control and 5 retrospective cohort studies were included which evaluated transmission of severe acute respiratory syndrome to HCWs. A limited number of procedures were evaluated,

Addition of 3-H2NC6H4Bpin (pin = 1,2-O2C2Me4) to a series of aldehydes and 4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl... more Addition of 3-H2NC6H4Bpin (pin = 1,2-O2C2Me4) to a series of aldehydes and 4-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)acetophenone afforded the corresponding benzylideneamines in moderate to high yields. Hydroboration of these imines with catecholborane (HBcat, cat = 1,2-O2C6H4) at room temperature gives, upon aqueous workup, the corresponding borylamines. An X-ray diffraction study was carried out on imine 1h derived from 9-anthraldehyde and 3-H2NC6H4Bpin. Crystals of1h were triclinic, a = 9.6793(4) Å, b = 10.7397(4) Å, c = 11.5353(4) Å, α = 105.1890(10)o, β = 97.3030(10)o, γ = 102.1480(10)o, Z = 2 with space group P[Formula: see text] and crystals of N-[3-(4,4,5,5-tetramethyl-1,3,2-dioxaborolan-2-yl)phenyl]-4-methoxybenzylamine 2c were orthorhombic, a = 8.6612(4) Å, b = 10.3794(4) Å, c = 20.6033(9) Å, Z = 4 with space group P212121. Amines have been tested for their antifungal properties against Aspergillus niger and Aspergillus flavus.Key words: benzylamines, boronate esters, aminoboron, hydroboration, antifungal.

Addition of 2-formylphenylboronic acid to the thiosemicarbazides gave the corresponding cyclic 2,3,1-benzodiazaborines. All new compounds have been investigated for potential antifungal activity.

All iminopyridine complexes were characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. The molecular structures of two complexes, 2a and 2b, were determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction studies. All complexes were tested for their potential antifungal and antibacterial activities.

All compounds were characterized fully using multinuclear NMR spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy and by elemental analyses. A single crystal X-ray diffraction was carried out on triethylmethylammonium 4-nitro[1,2-benzenediolato(2-)-O,O′]borate (5). All new compounds were tested for potential fungicidal activity.

All compounds have been characterized fully including an X-ray diffraction study of the methoxy-containing benzodiazaborine 6. Attempts to coordinate thiosemicarbazones 2 and 3 to palladium(II) acetate were unsuccessful, however, addition of the non-boroncontaining derivative 1 to palladium afforded complex 7 whose molecular structure was determined by an X-ray diffraction study. The initial bioactivities of compounds 1-7 were examined against two fungi, Aspergillus niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, and two bacteria, Bacillus cereus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa.

The effects of gravity and magnetism can translate into future application of these nanorods through cost-effective, environmentally friendly, and easy-to-use biosensor technology with the quickest available sensing. The sensors can pave the way toward detection of both bacteria and fungi present on the surface with high sensitivity. This ability to sense microorganisms in a "non-solution-based" environment represents a key step forward in the fields of health and food safety, as well as solid-state nanomaterial biotechnology applications. Hundreds of thousands of people are affected each year by accidental contamination and current protocols are far from preventative. The results of the magnetic field studies when compared with previous results show that the following factors affect the outcome of applying magnetic field during the growth of nanorods on their morphology: the direction of growth with respect to gravity, the method of seeding, and the substrate.

All complexes were characterized by physicochemical and spectroscopic methods. The molecular structure of 2b was determined by a single-crystal X-ray diffraction study. All complexes were tested for their potential antifungal and antibacterial activities.

Addition of these Schiff bases to [Pd(OAc)2] afforded the corresponding bis(salicylaldiminato)palladium(II) complexes in moderate to excellent yields. All new palladium complexes have been characterized fully using standard spectroscopic methods, elemental analyses and a single crystal X-ray diffraction study in the case of 2e, the palladium complex containing Schiff base ligands derived from 5-ASA and 2,3-dihydroxybenzaldehyde. All derivatives of 5-ASA were examined for potential antimicrobial activities against two species of fungi, Aspergillus niger and Saccharomyces cerevisiae, as well as two species of bacteria, Bacillus cereus (Gram-positive) and Pseudomonas aeruginosa

It is then argued that oil disruptions of the 1970s, new gas discoveries and the “steel for gas” deals with the Soviet Union were decisive for the evolution of the current gas infrastructure. The parts of the chapter that trace the developments of the EU gas markets after the Soviet breakup and Eastern enlargement show that the 2006 and 2009 gas interruptions to Ukraine have partially motivated new EU gas legislation, which Russia perceived as threatening to her economic interests.
