These were the words echoed by Frank Delano Roosevelt on the eve of the Universal declaration of Human rights. Following the inhumane Acts of the Second World War, the Universal Declaration of Human Rights was formed in 1948. Ironically, with the dawn of the 20th century, the world has seen more religious wars, ethnic cleansing attacks, wars on terror, and aggressive torture. This epoch seems to nullify the statements made in the UDHR 1948. Costas Douzinas points out that
“our age has witnessed more violations of their principles than previous and less ‘enlightened’ epochs..the twentieth century is the century of Massacre, genocide, holocaust and ethnic cleansing..”
