In particular we are examining the use of Funds to:
1)diversify the economy (integration primary/other sectors/cultural and natural resources)
2)improve accessibility and quality of life
3)qualification of the territory (landscape, environmental protection,
Within these projects we want to verify
a) the integration both vertical (between funding periods) and horizontal (among projects and fundings), as well as the presence of a general vision for a place
b) the use of public-private partnerships and resources.
In this presentation I am just outlining recent policies and funding (2000-6 and 2007-13) for rural areas in the field of tourism in Tuscany and Umbria. I have chosen these two areas to compare a mature tourist destination like Tuscany with one where tourism is an important resource for the economy, but less developed.
