A survey was conducted on models and non-models using simple random sampling technique to select 64 models representing 32 participants from each agency and 128 non-models representing participants from Accra and Kumasi and Tamale Technical Universities. A chi-square analysis was used to gather data on anthropometry, body image perspectives, weight control and feeding behaviours establishing the relationship between BIM status, Body category and time-length in this industry. The results revealed that fashion models in the experimental group experienced greater levels of body dissatisfaction than their control counterparts. Almost half of all participants engaged in at least one feeding habit like skipping meal to control their weight. The media space was identified with over 50% responses from all participants as a major source of information on thinness concept being considered as ideal body image. The study recommends that modelling agencies should educate models against unhealthy practices of skipping meal as means of attaining thinner body concept as beauty standard among the youth. Training through seminars is needed to educate media, peers and practitioners to stop projecting thinner beauty concept and encourage other body types into the fashion space.

Most batik producers are inconsistent with parameters used in the production of these batiks. To most, achieving the batik effect is enough since there are really no means of assessing whether they meet set quality standard. The objective of this study was to produce batiks using consistent production parameters and test the colour fastness of batiks produced. The research was based on qualitative and quantitative research approaches which used experimental and descriptive methods. Dyeing was conducted to produce batik samples. Colour fastness tests to washing, rubbing and light were conducted on dyed samples. The study revealed that-batiks dyed with vat dyes had good colour fastness. It could be concluded based on the findings that high quality batiks with good colour fastness can be produced if the parameters are set right. This will help improve the substandard batik works produced by batik producers in the region and Ghana as a whole.
