Many of those who are new to the subject of "gender and space" will instantly become curious abou... more Many of those who are new to the subject of "gender and space" will instantly become curious about the tactics and strategies on how to "de-gender", subvert or claim spaces. This is because the majority people who are interested in the subject are mostly feminist or LGBTT individuals who have been suffering from the oppression of heteronormativity all through their lives. For these people, the concept of queer glows as a tool for challenging the roles of gender and for inventing or discovering spaces of liberation. The term queer has been reappropriated and employed as an umbrella term since 1980's in the human rights struggle for sexual minorities especially in USA. However in time queer turned into a more inclusive term covering many alternative identities other than sexual.
