Some scholars were of the opinion that the MDGs were a huge failure in most, if not all, countries in Africa. Others, however, recorded considerable progress in developing countries. Deploying data from secondary sources, this paper, which is a retrospective study, brings into recognition that while the implementation of the MDGs was a good idea, they do not reflect Africa's development stance outright. This paper analyzes each goal with substantial examples, and contends that the MDGs were an indirect way of making developing countries depend on the West. The paper recommends that Africa has to make a demarcation between its economy and that of the Western world.

The evolved concepts overlap and tend tosupplanttraditional concepts in public administration. Using secondary data, this paper examined the indigenous concepts and paradigms of public administration. It traced the evolutionary trends of present ideas and projections to the future of public administration in the fourth industrial revolution. The study asserts that the projected future concepts are rooted in the underlining foundation of traditional public administration. Furthermore, the paper introduced "agile governance" as a burgeoning concept in public administration in the fourth industrial revolution. It highlighted the need for government to get the support of every sector as this is an underlining basis of agile governance. The paper found that thedevelopment of traditional governance and policymaking models is key in the fourth industrial revolution. The study calls for the continual readiness of

In an attempt to change this status quo, successive governments have implemented various poverty reduction policie that have paradoxically yielded limited results. Statistics have revealed that a considerable gap exists between the program's objective and achievement. Since 2015, there has been a steady increase in the poverty index in the country. Thus, using a qualitative research method with a focus on desk-based research, the paper critically analyses the poverty reduction policies in the post-apartheid era. The study highlights the poverty reduction programs implemented and the challenges disabling them from yielding perceptible results. The study stresses that for poverty reduction to be viable, the root cause of poverty has to be identified. It also accentuates the role government and policymakers have to play to get feasible results while coming up with suggestions going forward on how these policies can bring appreciable progress to poverty reduction and poverty reduction programs like the National Development Plan and the Sustainable Development Goals.

Attempts are continually being made especially by gender inequality-conscious leadership in Africa to adopt international policies and implement national policies to promote gender parity. While African countries attained different levels of progress towards gender parity with these policies, the coronavirus pandemic that began in 2019 introduced another dimension to the gender equality debate globally. This study using the qualitative research method through pieces of literature analyzed the impact of COVID-19 on gender equality in Africa. It explored the potential for attaining gender equality in Africa by the years 2030 and 2063, as outlined in the Sustainable Development Goals and Agenda 2063, respectively It examined how COVID-19 exacerbated the inequalities amongst genders in comparison with the state of gender equality before COVID-19. The study further evaluated the role of COVID-19 in the state of affairs of gender roles, especially in attaining gender equality. The paper went ahead to discuss how gender equality can be improved during a crisis. The paper argued that the pandemic had magnified and exacerbated gender disparities in Africa, affecting various aspects of women's lives. Furthermore, it was discovered that this effect has caused setbacks in the advancement towards SDGs 2030 and Agenda 2063. Issues such as gender-based violence, female genital mutilation, and maternal mortality rates have experienced a notable increase. Therefore, in addressing these disparities, the paper recommends countries build equitable healthcare systems, create gender-disaggregated data production, implement policies to support women in the formal sector in managing remote work while balancing their domestic responsibilities and adopt gender budgeting practices.

Amongst such alliances was the formation of BRICS by the five world economies-Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa into what is commonly known as BRICS. BRICS is considered a joint initiative, aimed at shifting conventional norms in international economic and political cooperation to create a new trans-continental platform for these actors. Each member country in BRICS has, in one way or another, reflected growth either through its economy foreign policy, and developmental pursuit. However, South Africa is portrayed by some researchers as lagging behind, when compared to the other member countries. Hence, this study sought to analyse the potential mediumand long-term implications of South Africa's inclusion in BRICS. the study also aimed to underscore the benefits and risks associated with South Africa's membership in the alliance in the area of development; specifically poverty reduction, foreign policy, trade, and global partnership. the researchers collected secondary data to analytically critique the inclusion of South Africa in the BRICS alliance, its benefits, and shortcomings for development in South Africa, and in Africa as a whole. We argue that as a global player under BRICS, South Africa has opened a new vista of opportunities, including transnational gateways to Brazil, Russia, India, and China, with the attendant inflow of infrastructural and developmental investments, enriching educational exchanges and technology transfers. the article concludes by stressing the need for South Africa and other African countries to formulate policies that will drive meaningful development in their respective countries. the authors recommend that African leaders should come up with innate policies that are Africa-centred, that would incite development internally.
