Niška Banja spa is considered an area with high natural radioactivity. The appearance of radon in water is due to the leaching of soil in which 226 Ra nuclei decompose. The passage of groundwater through radium-rich rocks results in the collection of radium decay products, including radon 222 Rn. This paper presents the results of several studies which measured radon concentrations in the waters of Niška Banja spa. There are three thermal springs in Niška Banja spa: "Glavno vrelo", "Suva banja" and "Školska česma". The radon concentration in the waters of Niška Banja spa was found to be generally about 0.4-570•10 3 Bq/m 3 . According to the available data in the literature, the highest measured radon concentration in the waters of Niška Banja spa is 1463.4•10 3 Bq/m 3 .

Size of nanomaterials particles is similar to the size of biological molecules and structures, a conclusion can be drawn that the application of nanomaterials in vivo and in vitro biomedical researches is possible. This paper is a short overview of medical applications of different nanomaterials such as carbon nanotubes, graphene, quantum dots, nanocapsules etc. The main nanocarriers systems such as liposomes, micelles and dendrimers also will be presented. Today, we are witnessing the great boom of magnetic particles as essential components in several areas of medical practice. The great advantages of using nanomaterials in biomedical areas lies in their ability to operate on the same small scale as all the intimate biochemical functions involved in the growth, development and ageing of the human body. Nano-pharamceuticals reveal enormous potential in drug delivery as carrier for spatial and temporal delivery of bioactive components and diagnostics. Additionally, it also provides smart materials for tissue engineering. This discipline is now well-established for drug delivery, diagnostics, prognostic and treatment of diseases through its nanoengineered tools.

The highest energy saving in relation to IC engine vehicles is achieved in city driving. Electric cars are as ecologically clean and energy efficient became the subject of the energy policy of developed countries (USA, Japan, and Germany). In developed countries, regulations are adopted according to which ECs must be represented in a certain percentage in total car production. Such regulations also apply in other countries.

Investigation of the polycrystalline solar modules energy efficiency in relation to their tilt an... more Investigation of the polycrystalline solar modules energy efficiency in relation to their tilt angle and geographical orientation in the real meteorological conditions are presented in this paper. The experimental system comprises five polycrystalline silicon modules, with single power 50 Wp, three of which are placed vertically and oriented towards the East, South and West, respectively, the fourth is horizontal, while the fifth is oriented toward the South at the angle of 33º (optimally inclined solar module). The measurement period was from 01 August to 01 December, 2014. The optimally inclined solar module generated the most of total monthly energy for all four months. The most of total monthly energy was generated in August, by the optimally inclined solar module (6.07 kWh), horizontal solar module (5.69 kWh), the vertical solar module oriented toward the East (2.42 kWh) and the vertical solar module oriented toward the West (2.52 kWh), respectively. Energy efficiency of optima...

Soiling is the term used to describe the deposition of dust on solar modules. Dust, most often contains organic minerals and particles which result from the burning of fossil fuels, etc. In research studies investigating the influence of dust on the solar modules efficiency in the world, in the Solar Energy Laboratory at the Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics in Nis, and in the Solar Energy Laboratory at the Academy of Sciences and Arts of the Republic of Srpska, it was concluded that all types of dust negatively affect the energy efficiency of solar modules, with ash, limestone (calcium carbonate), red soil and sand (silicon dioxide) having the greatest impact.

Renewable energy sources used in Serbia are hydropower, solar energy, wind energy, biomass, and biogas. Renewable energy sources used in the Republic of Srpska are hydropower, solar energy, biomass, and biogas. When using hydropower, the formed reservoirs often impact the microclimate of the environment in which they are located. Photothermal and photovoltaic solar radiation conversion installations are mostly stationary, do not emit harmful substances into the environment, and have no impact on climate change. The use of wind turbines has a certain influence on the flow of ambient air. When using biomass and biogas, combustion gases are released into the atmosphere, which has slightly negative impact on climate change. The paper concludes that the use of renewable energy sources in Serbia and the Republic of Srpska has a negligible n...

Nanomedical approaches are a major transforming factor in medical diagnosis and therapies. The great advantages of using nanomaterials in biomedical areas lies in their ability to operate on the same small scale as all the intimate biochemical functions involved in the growth, development and ageing of the human body. Achieving full potential of nanomedicine may be years of even decades away, however, potential advances in drug delivery, diagnosis, and development of nanotechnology-related drugs start to change the landscape of medicine. One of the main issues is certainly related to long-term safety of nanomaterials, both developed for in vitro and in vivo applications.

The atlas contains the results of calculating global and direct solar radiation falling on the horizontal surface and global solar radiation falling on the optimally placed surface in Banja Luka in the period from 2007 to 2016. In addition, the intensity of global, direct and diffuse solar radiation falling on the optimally placed surface in Banja Luka is given by months. It was found that 13.89% less solar radiation falls on the horizontal surface and 47.31% less on the vertical surface as compared to the solar radiation that falls on the optimally placed surface. The basic characteristics of fixed, one-axis and dual-axis tracking PV solar power plants power of 1 MWp and the amount of electricity that can be generated by them in Banja Luka, are also given. It was found that with the one-axis tracking solar power plant 30.18% more electricity can be...

Soiling of solar modules surface leads to a reduction in their performance due to reduced quantity of solar radiation reaching solar cells. Having in mind that (in Serbia) solar modules on the roofs are often located near chimneys, and that for heating fossil fuels are mostly used, during the heating season fly ash is accumulated on solar modules reducing their performances. This paper presents results of the outdoor experimental investigation of the impact of accumulated fly ash during the heating season on solar modules surface set at an angle of 0° (horizontal), and at an optimal angle of 32° for the area of Nis on their power. The experiment was carried out for a period of 168 days. The maximum power reduction (greatest reduction of solar modules power due to fly ash soiling) both for the horizontal and optimally installed module due to the fly ash accumulation was measured on the 45th day of the measurement. The maximum power reduction of the horizontal module was 87.2%, and of the optimally set module 30.6%. The morphology of the fuel oil fly ash was analyzed using scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The fly ash particles were generally spherical in shape, of a porous structure and the largest number of particles had diameters of 20 μm to 50 μm.

After this successful survey, the measurements continued using the same type of the LR 115 nuclear track detectors, i.e., Direct Radon Progeny Sensors/Direct Thoron Progeny Sensors (DRPS/DTPS), and they were deployed in the 36 dwellings nearby the investigated schools. The detectors were exposed for one year period at 15–20 cm distance from the walls. The EERC and EETC were found to vary in the range from 6.3 to 14.4 Bq/m3and from 0.10 to 1.1 Bq/m3, with geometric mean 9.3 and 0.36, respectively. The same variance of EER and EET concentrations, measured in living and bedrooms of buildings built with different construction materials as well at different floors have been obtained. The insignificant correlations between EERC and EETC, show that these concentration...

Special attention was paid to the possibilities of using renewable energy sources (RES) and their impact on the environment. In addition, the paper describes three GHG emissions reduction scenarios by 2025 in BiH and gives some information about RES legislation and feed-in tariffs in BiH. The paper points out that in order to establish the ecological balance and sustainable development of mankind, it is necessary to make greater use of renewable energy sources, as well as that renewable energy contributes to the reduction of the GHG emissions, reduction of the fossil fuels use, development of local industries and creation of new jobs.
