2012-14 közötti időszakban több értékes iratanyaggal gyarapodott a Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár Ország... more 2012-14 közötti időszakban több értékes iratanyaggal gyarapodott a Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár Országos Levéltára, de ezek közül a legnagyobb publicitást az az irategyüttes kapta, amely Deák Ferenc unokahúgához, keresztlányához írt nyolc levelét, egy versét és egy hajtincsét tartalmazta (HU-MNL-OL - R 22 - 7/b). A leveleket René Rousaut, Franciaország akkori nagykövete ajándékozta a levéltárnak. A levelek az 1850 -es években íródtak Nedeczky Idához és Deák kevéssé ismert magánéletébe engednek bepillantást - még akkor is, ha nagy részük megjelent 1888-ban a Pesti Naplóban. Az iratanyag azért is kiemelkedő, mert a reformkor és szabadságharc emblematikus személyiségével, Kossuth Lajossal ellentétben Deáktól kevés kézirat maradt korunkra.

1. 12 digitized documents of the pillar Medicine present an overall view of the many different facets that medical knowledge and medical activities took along the ages in Europe;
2. Energy / Industry covers a variety of machines and industrial procedures, with very different technological apparatus or processes from the 15th to the 20th century, with the help of 15 documents;
3. Transports / Navigation’s 18 documents visualize machines, gadgets, inventions, maps, and a variety of other items that attest to the interest and the constant involvement of Europeans with voyages.

3. Multiple faces of Christianity in Europe will be represented by 14 more digital documents to show church history, relationship between church and secular monarchs, creation of Christian knowledge, and origins of Christian holidays;
4. The intellectual Heritage of Enlightenment, openness and democratic ideas based on the belief of freedom and rationale will be shown with the last 10 records.

2018-ban a Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár (továbbiakban: MNL) egy olyan négyéves nemzetközi projekthez c... more 2018-ban a Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár (továbbiakban: MNL) egy olyan négyéves nemzetközi projekthez csatlakozott, amely a European Digital Treasures (Európa Digitális Kincsei) címet viselte. A kezdeményezés az Európai Unió által életre hívott Creative Europe (Kreatív Európa) program részfinanszírozásában valósult meg.
A projekt nemzetközi konzorciumának fő résztvevői: a Spanyol Állami Levéltár – ők a programot vezető fél is egyben –, a Norvég, a Máltai, a Portugál és a Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár, valamint az osztrák ICARUS (Nemzetközi Levéltári Kutatóközpont) és a Munster Műszaki Egyetem (korábban: Corki Műszaki Intézet, Írország).
A projekt kiindulási alapja olyan levéltári források kiválasztása és digitális bemutatása volt, amelyek történelmi kontextusba helyezve tudnak egyrészt
magával ragadó, felemelő vagy megrázó történeteket „elmesélni”, másrészt a közös európai történelem-értelmezés mátrixában képesek összekötni a földközi-tengeri, az ibériai, a közép-európai térség történeti iratait a skandinávval. És mindezt úgy, hogy az üzenetek a nem szakmai közönséghez is eljussanak, különös tekintettel azokra a korosztályokra, amelyek „vakfoltnak” számítanak a levéltári életben: a fiatalok és az aktív nyugdíjasok körére.

In 2018, the National Archives of Hungary (MNL) joined a four-year international project called European Digital Treasures. The initiative was part-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
The main participants in the international consortium of the project were the Spanish National Archives as leading partner of the programme, the National Archives of Norway, Malta, Portugal and Hungary, ICARUS (International Centre for Archival Research, Austria), and Munster University of Technology (formerly Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland).
The starting point for the project was the selection and digital presentation of archival resources that, when placed in historical context, can be used to
to 'tell' stories that are both engaging, uplifting or shocking, and to link the historical records of the Mediterranean, Iberian and Central European regions with Scandinavia in a matrix of shared European historical understanding. And all this in a way that the messages can reach a non-professional audience, especially those age groups that are considered to be a "blind spot" in archival life: young people and the so-called silver generation: active retired people.

In June 2010, the National Archives of Hungary bought a unique historical document at an auction. It includes two poems written by József Barsi about József Bem (Józef Zachariasz Bem) and a watercolour painting of the Colonel Ágoston Tóth.

Sie war 17 Jahre lang als Archivarin und Abteilungsleiterin der Digitalen Dienstleistungen im Ungarischen Nationalarchiv (MNL) tätig. Mittlerweile ist sie Berufsgenealogin und somit bestens geeignet, in ihrem Beitrag „Genealogische Quellen in Ungarn“ einen umfassenden Einblick in die Recherchemöglichkeiten unseres Nachbarlandes zu geben.

One of the basic tasks of the National Archives of Hungary is to enrich its collection with private records of historical significance. Our member institutions have received many family and personal legacies as gifts and are preserving them for posterity. In addition to these, our holdings also include collections separated according to other sorting principles, such as the type of document or the date of its creation. The National Archives of Hungary (MNL), in cooperation with the Association of Hungarian Archivists, has launched a four-event series of events to present these collections, entitled Expanding History - Donations of the Last Fifteen Years.

Az Europeana által életre hívott Collection Days gyűjtőnapok alapvetően a digitális tartalmak gyű... more Az Europeana által életre hívott Collection Days gyűjtőnapok alapvetően a digitális tartalmak gyűjtésére, állományba vételére és online közzétételére összpontosít. A 2018. szeptember 15-én megtartott gyűjtőkori napot a Magyar Nemzeti Levéltár Országos Levéltára a Kulturális Örökség Napjai rendezvénysorozat keretein belül szervezte meg, együttműködésben a Nagy Háború Bloggal, a Fortepannal és természetesen az alapötlet gazdájával, az Europeanaval. A „Háborúk, forradalmak, traumák: Az első világháború története 1914–1918” címet viselő esemény során az intézmény főként az I. világháborúval kapcsolatos maganiratokat vart bemutatásra, de felajánlotta további levéltárosi konzultáció egyedi igénybevételét is.
A rendezvény két részből állt: egyrészt magából az iratgyűjtésből, másrészt egy kerekasztal-beszélgetésből, amely a levéltár gyűjtőköri munkáját volt hivatott a nagyközönség számára közelebb hozni. A beszélgetésen Kaba Eszter (Politikatörténeti Intézet) moderátor mellett Mikó Zsuzsanna, Szabó Dorottya (MNL), Pintér Tamás (Nagy Háború Blog), Tamási Miklós (Fortepan) és az Europeana képviselői, Ad Polle és Frank Drauschke vettek reszt.
A szeptemberi gyűjtés nagyon sok iratanyag-együttest hozott levéltári látókörbe, az utólagos felajánlások, iratbeküldések, személyes iratbemutatások pedig később is folytatódtak a felhívás nyomán.

The Collection Days, initiated by Europeana, focus on the collection, cataloguing and online publication of digital content. The Collection Days, held on 15 September 2018, were organised by the National Archives of Hungary as part of the Cultural Heritage Days series of events, in cooperation with the Great War Blog, Fortepan and, of course, Europeana, the host of the idea. The event, entitled "Wars, revolutions, traumas: the history of the First World War 1914-1918", mainly focused on the presentation of World War I-related private documents, but also offered the possibility of a specific consultation with archivists.
The event consisted of two parts: the collection itself and a round-table discussion aimed at bringing the archives' collection work closer to the public. The panel discussion was moderated by Eszter Kaba (Institute of Political History) and included Zsuzsanna Mikó, Dorottya Szabó (MNL), Tamás Pintér (Great War Blog), Miklós Tamási (Fortepan) and Europeana representatives Ad Polle and Frank Drauschke.
The collecting in September brought a great number of archival collections to the archives, and subsequent donations, submissions and personal presentations of documents continued after the call.

A kijelentés önmagában beletörődést és kényszerűséget sugall, hiszen szembeállítja a gondolat írójának jogi hovatartozását nemzeti identitásával. Ez a jelenség az emigrációba kényszerült magyarok meghatározó alapélménye volt, ezért választottuk dokumentumközlésünk mottójául.

"I will be a loyal citizen of Canada, but I will remain a Hungarian at heart!" - reads the statement of Jenő Lendvay-Zwickl, a certified agronomist, head of the Zichy family's estate in Ács, a forestry expert, one of the leading authorities on sugar beet and seed growing in Hungary, and later a Canadian citizen. The statement in itself suggests resignation and compulsion, as it confronts the author's legal status with his national identity. This phenomenon was a fundamental experience of the Hungarians forced into emigration, which is why we chose it as the motto of our document publication.

A szakaszos, de folyamatos bevándorlás a kanadai magyar kulturális életet folyamatosan frissített... more A szakaszos, de folyamatos bevándorlás a kanadai magyar kulturális életet folyamatosan frissítette, új impulzusokkal, új tagokkal gazdagította.
Lendvay-Zwickl irathagyatékából, azon belül különösen visszaemlékezéséből és publicisztikáiból két olyan párhuzamosan futó „életrajz” képe alakult ki, ahol a menekült egyrészt betagozódott második hazája életébe, megtanulta annak nyelvét, elsajátította szokásait, megismerte szűkebb és tágabb helyi viszonyait. Ugyanakkor féltékenyen őrizte magyarságát, továbbra is figyelemmel kísérte Magyarország sorsát, küzdött a honvággyal, és magyarságtudata megőrzése céljából szabadidejében egyesületi életet élt: magyar teadélutánokra és összejövetelekre járt, gyermekeit a magyar nyelvre taníttatta, a vallási élet színhelyeit pedig kulturális-egyesületi színtérré is avatta.
Az emigráns lét kettőssége nem csak ebben volt tetten érhető, de a honvágy és a józan belátás összeütközésében is: a tengerentúli élet nehézségei és problémái, valamint a forradalom utáni Magyarországon bekövetkező megtorlások, bebörtönzések, kivégzések közé nem lehetett egyenlőségjelet tenni, a megkínzottak és kivégzettek sorsa nyilvánvalóan nem volt összehasonlítható az emigrációban élőkével. Ezek a gondolatok változó intenzitással, a cikkek megjelenésével párhuzamosan végig szerepelnek az emlékirat lapjain is.

The intermittent but continuous immigration has constantly updated the Hungarian cultural life in Canada, enriching it with new impulses and new members.
Lendvay-Zwickl's papers, especially his memoirs and publicistic writings, have given rise to two parallel "biographies", where the refugee became part of the life of his second homeland, learned its language, acquired its customs and got to know its local conditions. At the same time, he was vigilant in preserving his Hungarian identity, continued to follow the history (or fate) of Hungary, fought with his countrymen, and in his free time, he lived a life of association: he attended Hungarian tea parties and gatherings, taught his children the Hungarian language, and turned the places of religious life into cultural and association arenas.
The duality of being an emigrant was not only evident in this, but also in the clash between homesickness and common sense: the difficulties and problems of life overseas and the reprisals, imprisonments and executions that occurred in post-revolutionary Hungary could not be equated, and the fate of the tortured and executed was obviously not comparable to that of those living in emigration. These thoughts appear in the pages of the memoirs with varying intensity, in parallel with the publication of the articles.

In 2018, the National Archives of Hungary (MNL) joined a four-year international project called European Digital Treasures. The initiative was part-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
The main participants in the international consortium of the project were the Spanish National Archives as leading partner of the programme, the National Archives of Norway, Malta, Portugal and Hungary, ICARUS (International Centre for Archival Research, Austria), and Munster University of Technology (formerly Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland).
The starting point for the project was the selection and digital presentation of archival resources that, when placed in historical context, can be used to
to 'tell' stories that are both engaging, uplifting or shocking, and to link the historical records of the Mediterranean, Iberian and Central European regions with Scandinavia in a matrix of shared European historical understanding. And all this in a way that the messages can reach a non-professional audience, especially those age groups that are considered to be a "blind spot" in archival life: young people and the so-called silver generation: active retired people.
1. The spirit of Europe covers 14 valuable records in connection with the influence of antiquities on science and education as well as the key role that the arts played in areas such as our understanding of humanity and the expression of our emotions;
2. The diversity of Europe shows Europe’s cultural, religious, ethnic and national diversity with 12 digitized records, because European culture has always been based on the customs, philosophies, beliefs, and experiences of multiple communities;
3. Multiple faces of Christianity in Europe will be represented by 14 more digital documents to show church history, relationship between church and secular monarchs, creation of Christian knowledge, and origins of Christian holidays;
4. The intellectual Heritage of Enlightenment, openness and democratic ideas based on the belief of freedom and rationale will be shown with the last 10 records.

One of the basic tasks of the National Archives of Hungary is to enrich its collection with private records of historical significance. Our member institutions have received many family and personal legacies as gifts and are preserving them for posterity. In addition to these, our holdings also include collections separated according to other sorting principles, such as the type of document or the date of its creation. The National Archives of Hungary (MNL), in cooperation with the Association of Hungarian Archivists, has launched a four-event series of events to present these collections, entitled Expanding History - Donations of the Last Fifteen Years.
A rendezvény két részből állt: egyrészt magából az iratgyűjtésből, másrészt egy kerekasztal-beszélgetésből, amely a levéltár gyűjtőköri munkáját volt hivatott a nagyközönség számára közelebb hozni. A beszélgetésen Kaba Eszter (Politikatörténeti Intézet) moderátor mellett Mikó Zsuzsanna, Szabó Dorottya (MNL), Pintér Tamás (Nagy Háború Blog), Tamási Miklós (Fortepan) és az Europeana képviselői, Ad Polle és Frank Drauschke vettek reszt.
A szeptemberi gyűjtés nagyon sok iratanyag-együttest hozott levéltári látókörbe, az utólagos felajánlások, iratbeküldések, személyes iratbemutatások pedig később is folytatódtak a felhívás nyomán.

The Collection Days, initiated by Europeana, focus on the collection, cataloguing and online publication of digital content. The Collection Days, held on 15 September 2018, were organised by the National Archives of Hungary as part of the Cultural Heritage Days series of events, in cooperation with the Great War Blog, Fortepan and, of course, Europeana, the host of the idea. The event, entitled "Wars, revolutions, traumas: the history of the First World War 1914-1918", mainly focused on the presentation of World War I-related private documents, but also offered the possibility of a specific consultation with archivists.
The event consisted of two parts: the collection itself and a round-table discussion aimed at bringing the archives' collection work closer to the public. The panel discussion was moderated by Eszter Kaba (Institute of Political History) and included Zsuzsanna Mikó, Dorottya Szabó (MNL), Tamás Pintér (Great War Blog), Miklós Tamási (Fortepan) and Europeana representatives Ad Polle and Frank Drauschke.
The collecting in September brought a great number of archival collections to the archives, and subsequent donations, submissions and personal presentations of documents continued after the call.

"I will be a loyal citizen of Canada, but I will remain a Hungarian at heart!" - reads the statement of Jenő Lendvay-Zwickl, a certified agronomist, head of the Zichy family's estate in Ács, a forestry expert, one of the leading authorities on sugar beet and seed growing in Hungary, and later a Canadian citizen. The statement in itself suggests resignation and compulsion, as it confronts the author's legal status with his national identity. This phenomenon was a fundamental experience of the Hungarians forced into emigration, which is why we chose it as the motto of our document publication.
Lendvay-Zwickl irathagyatékából, azon belül különösen visszaemlékezéséből és publicisztikáiból két olyan párhuzamosan futó „életrajz” képe alakult ki, ahol a menekült egyrészt betagozódott második hazája életébe, megtanulta annak nyelvét, elsajátította szokásait, megismerte szűkebb és tágabb helyi viszonyait. Ugyanakkor féltékenyen őrizte magyarságát, továbbra is figyelemmel kísérte Magyarország sorsát, küzdött a honvággyal, és magyarságtudata megőrzése céljából szabadidejében egyesületi életet élt: magyar teadélutánokra és összejövetelekre járt, gyermekeit a magyar nyelvre taníttatta, a vallási élet színhelyeit pedig kulturális-egyesületi színtérré is avatta.
Az emigráns lét kettőssége nem csak ebben volt tetten érhető, de a honvágy és a józan belátás összeütközésében is: a tengerentúli élet nehézségei és problémái, valamint a forradalom utáni Magyarországon bekövetkező megtorlások, bebörtönzések, kivégzések közé nem lehetett egyenlőségjelet tenni, a megkínzottak és kivégzettek sorsa nyilvánvalóan nem volt összehasonlítható az emigrációban élőkével. Ezek a gondolatok változó intenzitással, a cikkek megjelenésével párhuzamosan végig szerepelnek az emlékirat lapjain is.

The intermittent but continuous immigration has constantly updated the Hungarian cultural life in Canada, enriching it with new impulses and new members.
Lendvay-Zwickl's papers, especially his memoirs and publicistic writings, have given rise to two parallel "biographies", where the refugee became part of the life of his second homeland, learned its language, acquired its customs and got to know its local conditions. At the same time, he was vigilant in preserving his Hungarian identity, continued to follow the history (or fate) of Hungary, fought with his countrymen, and in his free time, he lived a life of association: he attended Hungarian tea parties and gatherings, taught his children the Hungarian language, and turned the places of religious life into cultural and association arenas.
The duality of being an emigrant was not only evident in this, but also in the clash between homesickness and common sense: the difficulties and problems of life overseas and the reprisals, imprisonments and executions that occurred in post-revolutionary Hungary could not be equated, and the fate of the tortured and executed was obviously not comparable to that of those living in emigration. These thoughts appear in the pages of the memoirs with varying intensity, in parallel with the publication of the articles.

A projekt kiindulási alapja olyan levéltári források kiválasztása és digitális bemutatása volt, amelyek történelmi kontextusba helyezve tudnak egyrészt
magával ragadó, felemelő vagy megrázó történeteket „elmesélni”, másrészt a közös európai történelem-értelmezés mátrixában képesek összekötni a földközi-tengeri, az ibériai, a közép-európai térség történeti iratait a skandinávval. És mindezt úgy, hogy az üzenetek a nem szakmai közönséghez is eljussanak, különös tekintettel azokra a korosztályokra, amelyek „vakfoltnak” számítanak a levéltári életben: a fiatalok és az aktív nyugdíjasok körére.

In 2018, the National Archives of Hungary (MNL) joined a four-year international project called European Digital Treasures. The initiative was part-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union.
The main participants in the international consortium of the project were the Spanish National Archives as leading partner of the programme, the National Archives of Norway, Malta, Portugal and Hungary, ICARUS (International Centre for Archival Research, Austria), and Munster University of Technology (formerly Cork Institute of Technology, Ireland).
The starting point for the project was the selection and digital presentation of archival resources that, when placed in historical context, can be used to
to 'tell' stories that are both engaging, uplifting or shocking, and to link the historical records of the Mediterranean, Iberian and Central European regions with Scandinavia in a matrix of shared European historical understanding. And all this in a way that the messages can reach a non-professional audience, especially those age groups that are considered to be a "blind spot" in archival life: young people and the so-called silver generation: active retired people.
1. The spirit of Europe covers 14 valuable records in connection with the influence of antiquities on science and education as well as the key role that the arts played in areas such as our understanding of humanity and the expression of our emotions;
2. The diversity of Europe shows Europe’s cultural, religious, ethnic and national diversity with 12 digitized records, because European culture has always been based on the customs, philosophies, beliefs, and experiences of multiple communities;
3. Multiple faces of Christianity in Europe will be represented by 14 more digital documents to show church history, relationship between church and secular monarchs, creation of Christian knowledge, and origins of Christian holidays;
4. The intellectual Heritage of Enlightenment, openness and democratic ideas based on the belief of freedom and rationale will be shown with the last 10 records.

One of the basic tasks of the National Archives of Hungary is to enrich its collection with private records of historical significance. Our member institutions have received many family and personal legacies as gifts and are preserving them for posterity. In addition to these, our holdings also include collections separated according to other sorting principles, such as the type of document or the date of its creation. The National Archives of Hungary (MNL), in cooperation with the Association of Hungarian Archivists, has launched a four-event series of events to present these collections, entitled Expanding History - Donations of the Last Fifteen Years.
A rendezvény két részből állt: egyrészt magából az iratgyűjtésből, másrészt egy kerekasztal-beszélgetésből, amely a levéltár gyűjtőköri munkáját volt hivatott a nagyközönség számára közelebb hozni. A beszélgetésen Kaba Eszter (Politikatörténeti Intézet) moderátor mellett Mikó Zsuzsanna, Szabó Dorottya (MNL), Pintér Tamás (Nagy Háború Blog), Tamási Miklós (Fortepan) és az Europeana képviselői, Ad Polle és Frank Drauschke vettek reszt.
A szeptemberi gyűjtés nagyon sok iratanyag-együttest hozott levéltári látókörbe, az utólagos felajánlások, iratbeküldések, személyes iratbemutatások pedig később is folytatódtak a felhívás nyomán.

The Collection Days, initiated by Europeana, focus on the collection, cataloguing and online publication of digital content. The Collection Days, held on 15 September 2018, were organised by the National Archives of Hungary as part of the Cultural Heritage Days series of events, in cooperation with the Great War Blog, Fortepan and, of course, Europeana, the host of the idea. The event, entitled "Wars, revolutions, traumas: the history of the First World War 1914-1918", mainly focused on the presentation of World War I-related private documents, but also offered the possibility of a specific consultation with archivists.
The event consisted of two parts: the collection itself and a round-table discussion aimed at bringing the archives' collection work closer to the public. The panel discussion was moderated by Eszter Kaba (Institute of Political History) and included Zsuzsanna Mikó, Dorottya Szabó (MNL), Tamás Pintér (Great War Blog), Miklós Tamási (Fortepan) and Europeana representatives Ad Polle and Frank Drauschke.
The collecting in September brought a great number of archival collections to the archives, and subsequent donations, submissions and personal presentations of documents continued after the call.

"I will be a loyal citizen of Canada, but I will remain a Hungarian at heart!" - reads the statement of Jenő Lendvay-Zwickl, a certified agronomist, head of the Zichy family's estate in Ács, a forestry expert, one of the leading authorities on sugar beet and seed growing in Hungary, and later a Canadian citizen. The statement in itself suggests resignation and compulsion, as it confronts the author's legal status with his national identity. This phenomenon was a fundamental experience of the Hungarians forced into emigration, which is why we chose it as the motto of our document publication.
Lendvay-Zwickl irathagyatékából, azon belül különösen visszaemlékezéséből és publicisztikáiból két olyan párhuzamosan futó „életrajz” képe alakult ki, ahol a menekült egyrészt betagozódott második hazája életébe, megtanulta annak nyelvét, elsajátította szokásait, megismerte szűkebb és tágabb helyi viszonyait. Ugyanakkor féltékenyen őrizte magyarságát, továbbra is figyelemmel kísérte Magyarország sorsát, küzdött a honvággyal, és magyarságtudata megőrzése céljából szabadidejében egyesületi életet élt: magyar teadélutánokra és összejövetelekre járt, gyermekeit a magyar nyelvre taníttatta, a vallási élet színhelyeit pedig kulturális-egyesületi színtérré is avatta.
Az emigráns lét kettőssége nem csak ebben volt tetten érhető, de a honvágy és a józan belátás összeütközésében is: a tengerentúli élet nehézségei és problémái, valamint a forradalom utáni Magyarországon bekövetkező megtorlások, bebörtönzések, kivégzések közé nem lehetett egyenlőségjelet tenni, a megkínzottak és kivégzettek sorsa nyilvánvalóan nem volt összehasonlítható az emigrációban élőkével. Ezek a gondolatok változó intenzitással, a cikkek megjelenésével párhuzamosan végig szerepelnek az emlékirat lapjain is.

The intermittent but continuous immigration has constantly updated the Hungarian cultural life in Canada, enriching it with new impulses and new members.
Lendvay-Zwickl's papers, especially his memoirs and publicistic writings, have given rise to two parallel "biographies", where the refugee became part of the life of his second homeland, learned its language, acquired its customs and got to know its local conditions. At the same time, he was vigilant in preserving his Hungarian identity, continued to follow the history (or fate) of Hungary, fought with his countrymen, and in his free time, he lived a life of association: he attended Hungarian tea parties and gatherings, taught his children the Hungarian language, and turned the places of religious life into cultural and association arenas.
The duality of being an emigrant was not only evident in this, but also in the clash between homesickness and common sense: the difficulties and problems of life overseas and the reprisals, imprisonments and executions that occurred in post-revolutionary Hungary could not be equated, and the fate of the tortured and executed was obviously not comparable to that of those living in emigration. These thoughts appear in the pages of the memoirs with varying intensity, in parallel with the publication of the articles.
