Given the quantity and quality of material still being produced it may be thought that little can be contributed by a minor work such as this. That said, the intention of the present authors is primarily to explore the fate of her relics and to record her commemoration in recent years. Understanding of these matters, however, does require us initially to outline her ancestry, life and the circumstances leading to her canonisation.
