Com os danos causados por eles, no solo e em plantas de eucalipto, faz-se necessario o controle dessas pragas, de maneira que, para o sucesso da aplicacao do manejo integrado de pragas, a avaliacao populacional desses individuos e fundamental, sendo imprescindivel saber como eles se distribuem no campo. Dessa forma, objetivou-se investigar a dinâmica de distribuicao espacial de ninhos de formigas e termitas em uma area de floresta plantada de eucalipto, bem como estudar o impacto causado por essas pragas no solo e na planta. Samples of soluble aromatic polyimides of varying chemical structure and molecular weight were sy... more Samples of soluble aromatic polyimides of varying chemical structure and molecular weight were synthesized in refluxing m-cresol at elevated temperatures through a one-step polymerization route. Modifications of the dianhydride and diamine monomers were designed to prepare aromatic polyimides having new architectures based on the requirements of liquid crystal display (LCD) applications. The solutioncast films exhibit linear optical anisotropy (LOA), which is called uniaxial negative birefringence (UNB) and is characterized by the presence of a larger refractive index along the in-plane direction than in the out-of-plane direction. It is found that the UNB is critically associated with the backbone linearity and rigidity as well as the intrinsic polarizability of the polyimides. A specific polyimide synthesized from 2,2'-bis(3,4-dicarboxyphenyl)-hexafluoropropane and 2,2'-bis(trifluoro-memyl)-4,4'-diaminobiphenyl was used as an example to study the molecular weight effect on the LOA. For films having a fixed molecular weight, the refractive indices are constant for film thicknesses below 15 μm. They gradually change with further increase of the film thickness. On the other hand, the refractive index along the out-of-plane direction decreases while the in-plane refractive index increases when the polyimide molecular weight increases. The LOA is closely associated with the anisotropy of other second order parameters which are second derivatives with respect to the energy term. These parameters include the coefficient of thermal expansion, modulus, dielectric constant and refractive index. Films with this UNB can be used as negative birefringent compensators in twisted and super-twisted nematic LCDs to improve display viewing angles.

Devido à estacionalidade de produção de pastagens e à intensificação dos sistemas de produção, o ... more Devido à estacionalidade de produção de pastagens e à intensificação dos sistemas de produção, o uso de silagens no arraçoamento animal vem crescendo a cada ano, sendo considerado uma alternativa de alimentação para o período da seca. Neste sentido, objetivou-se com este trabalho avaliar as condições bromatológicas de volumosos compostos por sorgo, capim mombaça e sistema consorciado entre as duas culturas, em sistema de superfície com e sem a utilização de inoculantes. A produção de silagem aconteceu em sacos de polipropileno trançado e lona branca e preta, sendo compactados e retirado todo o ar do sistema. As variáveis analisadas foram: Matéria Seca (MS), Proteína Bruta (PB), Extrato Etéreo (EE), Fibra Total (FT) e Cinzas. O delinemanento experimental foi em subparcelas divididas, em esquema fatorial 3x2x6, sendo 3 tipos de tratamentos com volumoso, com 2 subparcelas contendo ou não inoculantes e 6 análises bromatológicas, com 12 repetições para cada tratamento. O sistema foi dividido em 6 silos com inoculante e 6 silos sem inoculante. As médias obtidas foram submetidas ao teste Tukey a 5% de probabilidade (P>0,01). Houve diferença significativa para as análises de proteína bruta para os tratamentos Sorgo (9,70%) e Mombaça (9,57%) e de extrato etéreo para o Consórcio (1,07%). Conclui-se que em relação ao inoculante, a não utilização do elemento representou melhores resultados para o Sorgo nas avaliações de proteína bruta e fibra total, e Consórcio nas avaliações de fibra total, cinzas, matéria seca e extrato etéreo. Já para o Mombaça, o uso de inoculante favoreceu nos resultados de proteína bruta, fibra total, cinzas e matéria seca.

A series of polyethers have been synthesized from 1-(4-hydroxy-4'-biphenyl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)pr... more A series of polyethers have been synthesized from 1-(4-hydroxy-4'-biphenyl)-2-(4-hydroxyphenyl)propane and ct, o~-dibromoalkanes having different numbers of methylene units [TPPs]. Both odd-and even-numbered TPPs [TPP(n=odd)s and TPP(n=even)s) exhibit multiple transitions during cooling and heating and they show little supercooling dependence, indicating close-to-equilibrium nature of these transitions. Combining the structural characterization obtained via wide angle X-ray diffraction powder and fiber patterns at different temperatures and the morphological observations from mieroseopy techniques, not only the nematie liquid crystalline phase but also highly ordered smeetic F, smectic crystal 0 and H phases have been identified. The phase diagrams for both TPP(n=odd)s and TPP(n=even)s have been constructed [1-3]. Thermodynamic properties (enthalpy and entropy changes) during these transitions are studied based on differential scanning calorimetry experiments. The contributions of the mesogenie groups and methylene units to eaeh ordering process can be separated and they indicate the charaeteristies of these processes thereby providing estimations of the transition types.

A pesquisa foi conduzida durante o periodo de abril a agosto de 2012, comparada com resultados de pesquisas realizadas nos anos de 2009 e 2010, tendo sido realizada de forma descritiva como pesquisa de campo, com coleta de dados em 44 municipios situados nas regioes descritas, ficando apenas a regiao sudeste excluida do diagnostico, por ser a regiao menos representativa em termos de producao e atividade apicola no estado.
