Neurobiological mechanisms associated with these models are described. Models reviewed include the subluxation complex model, subluxation degeneration, nerve compression, dysafferentation, the neurodystrophic model and segmental facilitation. Clinical models, including the segmental, postural, and tonal approaches are discussed.

Discussion:The scope of chiropractic is as broad as the scope of influence of the nervous system. Although many chiropractors and those they serve tend to focus on disorders associated with the physical body, it is obvious that abnormal nervous system function may also affect emotional and psychological health. Conclusion:Research addressing mental health issues and chiropractic care have been published, ranging from single case reports to randomiz ed clinical trials. It is recommended that further research be done to explore the relationship between reduction of vertebral subluxation and mental and emotional health

The document goes on to provide ≥must¥ statements regarding beliefs, values, evidence based practice and advertising. The GCC has resorted to a ≥straw man¥ fallacy i n their Guidance

Experts had predicted that the 21st century would be a time of better health and prosperity. Although wealth has increased, our quest to quell health problems using a pathogenic approach without understanding the interconnectedness of everyone and everything has damaged personal and planetary health. While current efforts help identify and eliminate causes of problems, they do not facilitate the creation of health and well-being as would be done with a salutogenic approach. Sociologist Aaron Antonovsky coined the term salutogenesis in 1979. It is derived from salus, which is Latin for health, and genesis, meaning to give birth. Salutogenesis, the study of the origins and creation of health, provides a method to identify an interconnected way to enhance well-being. Salutogenesis provides a framework for a method...

Variability in heart rate reflects the vagal and sympathetic function of the autonomic nervous system, and has been used as a monitoring tool in clinical conditions characterized by altered autonomic nervous system activity. Spectral analysis of beat-tobeat variability is a simple, non-invasive technique to evaluate autonomic dysfunction. Vertebral subluxations are changes in the position or motion of a vertebra which result in the interference with nerve function. Vertebral subluxations may result in altered autonomic nervous system activity. Heart rate variability is a reliable and valid tool that may be used to assess the changes in autonomic activity associated with the reduction and correction of vertebral subluxations. A search of the relevant literature addressing heart rate variability and the reduction...

The top five reported reasons for attending chiropractic care are low back pain/back pain, neck pain, extremity problems, wellness/maintenance and hip pain. The top five reasons for pediatric cases to attend chiropractic care are musculoskeletal conditions, excessive crying, neurological conditions, gastrointestinal conditions, and ear, nose, and throat conditions [1]. Although many chiropractors and those they serve tend to focus on disorders associated with the physical body, abnormal nervous system function may also affect emotional and psychological health. The author completed a brief historical overview of chiropractic and mental health [2]. This work represents expansion of that paper, and inclusion of putative neurobiological mechanisms. Radiography represents a useful tool to assist the chiropractor in making such determinations. Furthermore, radiography may disclose conditions requiring referral to another type of health care provider.

Political, legal, and scientific issues are considered. Attempts to portray the anti-vaccination chiropractors as unscientific extremists, by both orthodox medicine and from within the chiropractic community itself, clouds the informed

The Sony Walkman was introduced in the late 1970’s as an inexpensive and innovative way to enjoy portable music. Since it was a better way to access and listen to music, it promptly became popular. When the makers of the Walkman did not keep up with digital music access and listening (as is possible with the iPod and iTunes), it was replaced. Video rental stores were very popular until stand-alone kiosks were introduced with improved efficiency, access, and price. Now those kiosks are being replaced by online accessible movies. Each change was popularly adopted because the innovation spurring it resulted in an improved end user (human) experience.
While these innovations improved experience, it must be understood that change and improvement are not synon- ymous. When change creates better outcomes, it almost always requires creative innovation. True innovation is not simply developing a new method to do the same thing, it should be a way to improve or surpass an existing or previous level of achievement. Kiosk movie rentals and online
