about how to analyze the space with concerns on this duality. Sochava (1963) and Bertrand
(1968) were the precursors of the term and had defined a geosystem as heterogenic and dynamic alternative to the landscape analysis in systemic and holist ways. The Brazilian
geographic literature, mainly environment papers, usually works the space according to
the geosystemic perspective. The present paper sought to elaborate a bibliographic
review about the consecration of the “geosystem” term, followed by a critic about how
these approaches have been carried out with the reduction of the complexity of the
society-nature binomial. It seeks to contribute to the geographic science scenario with
critics perspectives about the holistic approaches for the sake of spatial planning
