Previous studies analyzed vegan consumption practices as central to leading such a lifestyle, but these studies focused on the material dimension of vegan consumption and not on the cognitive strategies involved in food choices. The purpose of this research was to analyze the cognitive and practical strategies used by vegans in adopting non-animal food consumption. For this purpose, the study examined biographic interviews with young vegans in Santiago, Chile. The results showed that adopting veganism implies a new social identity that redefines the edible/inedible categories. To maintain their identity, vegans must control their eating and make it reflexive. The establishment of new eating practices, based on individual and peer learning, facilitates their daily food choices, although reflexivity will always be present. This work contribut...

En este texto se realiza una interpretación sociohistórica al carácter de la política social y mo... more En este texto se realiza una interpretación sociohistórica al carácter de la política social y modelo de intervención en el periodo nacional-popular, dictadura militar y postdictadura. En esta línea, se sostiene que la crisis sin retorno en la que se encuentra la política social, luego del estallido social y posterior crisis sociosanitaria del COVID-19, no es casuística, sino que vinculada en pathdependence con el ciclo neoliberal. Así, la focalización, el tecnocratismo economicista y la privatización de la política social son aspectos fundamentales para comprender la crisis sin retorno. En adelante, y en el seno de la discusión sobre una nueva Constitución, se proponen elementos temáticos para desarrollar una refundación resonante de la política social, algunos de ellos presentes en la longduree de nuestra propia historia.
