The effects of sintering temperature (1150-1200 • C) and poling condition on its piezoelectric properties were examined. Piezoelectric properties like the piezoelectric constant (d 33 ) and electromechanical factors (k p , k t ) depend on the poling field and poling temperature, whereas different poling times, in the 5-30 min range, were not observed to have any significant effect on the piezoelectric properties. With respect to piezoelectric properties, the chosen sintering temperature range is suitable for BNT6.5BT ceramics.
Continuous estimation of distribution algorithms with probabilistic principal component analysis

Most of these methods tried to represent explicitly the relationship between variables in the problem with factorization techniques or a graphical model such as Bayesian or Gaussian networks. Thus enormous computational cost is required for constructing those models when the

This representational power combined with gen- erality makes genetic programming an interesting tool for automatic pro- gramming and machine learning. One weakness is the enormous time re- quired for evolving complex programs. In this paper we present a method for accelerating evolution speed of genetic programming by active selec-

Our technique for grouping protein interaction is based on ART-1 neural network. The cluster prototype constructed with existing protein interaction data is used to predict the class of new protein interactions. The protein interaction data of S.cerevisiae (bakers yeast) from MIPS and SGD are used. The clustering performance was compared with traditional k-means clustering method in terms of cluster distance. According to the experimental results, the proposed method shows about 89.7% clustering accuracy and the feature selection filter boosted overall performances about 14.8%. Also, inter-cluster distances of cluster constructed with ART-1 based clustering method have shown high cluster quality.

The proposed method analyzes user's reactions to the presented documents and learns from them the profiles for the individual users. Reinforcement learning is used to adapt the term weights in the user profile so that user's preferences are best represented. In contrast to conventional relevance feedback methods which require explicit user feedbacks, OUT approach learns user preferences implicitly from direct observations of user behaviors during interaction. Field tests have been made which involved 7 users reading a total of 7,700 HTML documents during 4 weeks. The proposed method showed superior performance in personalized information filtering compared to the existing relevance feedback methods.

The proposed method observes user's reactions to the filtered documents and learns from them the profiles for the individual users. Reinforcement learning is used to adapt the most significant terms that best represent user's interests. In contrast to conventional relevance feedback methods which require explicit user feedbacks, our approach learns user preferences implicitly from direct observations of browsing behaviors during interaction. Field tests have been made which involved 10 users reading a total of 18,750 HTML documents during 45 days. The proposed method showed superior performance in personalized information filtering compared to the existing relevance feedback methods.
Investigation of conducted disturbance from driving system in fuel cell bus

This paper presents some of the research results on the conducted disturbance from the driving system in a fuel cell city bus. First, the distribution of the disturbance source in the driving system surveyed by measurement is introduced. Then, its generating mechanics are discussed. The high-frequency circuit models of the fuel cell, the inverter, and the AC motor are set up. The conductive disturbance propagation along cable is analyzed by numerical simulation. Finally, measures to restrain the disturbance propagation are also discussed.

Compared with others, S-system has the advantage for these tasks in the sense that it can provide both quantitative (structural) and qualitative (dynamical) modeling in one framework. However, it is not easy to identify the structure of the true network since the number of parameters to be estimated is much larger than that of the available data. Moreover, conventional parameter estimation requires the time-consuming numerical integration to reproduce dynamic profiles for the S-system. In this paper, we propose multi-stage evolutionary algorithms to identify gene regulatory networks efficiently. With the symbolic regression by genetic programming (GP), we can evade the numerical integration steps. This is because the estimation of slopes for each time-course data can be obtained from the results of GP. We also develop hybrid evolutionary algorithms and modified fitness evaluation function to identify the structure of gene regulatory networks and to estimate the corresponding parameters at the same time. By applying the proposed method to the identification of an artificial genetic network, we verify its capability of finding the true S-system.

Hydroxyurea increases the fraction of cells with sufficiently long delay times to escape the microcirculation before polymerization begins. Furthermore, high pretreatment adherence to human umbilical vein endothelial cells of sickle RBCs decreased to normal after only 2 weeks of hydroxyurea treatment, preceding the increase in fetal hemoglobin levels....

An investigation on children's feeding methods, caries prevalence and dmft was made, using 260 cases which were provided with whole primary teeth. Chi-square test was used for statistical analysis on feeding methods and caries prevalence, and variance analysis was used on feeding methods and dmft. The results showed that the deciduous caries rate, mean dmft in breast feeding (BF) group were lower than those in mixed feeding (MF) group and artificial feeding (AF) group, there were significant differences between BF group and MF group, also between BF group and AF group. But there were no significant differences between MF group and AF group. It is concluded that proper breast feeding seems to be important for preventing deciduous caries.
