Brenda Sinclair
Hello, my name is Brenda. As a fourth generation European settler I am situated on the traditional and ancestral land known as ‘Ts’elxweyeqw’ which is now known as “Chilliwack” - this land is a part of the territories that were taken from the Stó:lō nation. I have three grown children and one granddaughter.
I am in my third year of the bachelors of Adult Education.
Last semester I completed the last required course for the Workplace Education (WE) associate certificate. My education also includes a Bachelors of Social Work; a Bachelor of Integrated Studies, an Integrated Learning Design (LD) associate certificate, a Teaching English as a Second Language certificate (TESL), a Diploma in Social Services, an extended certificate in First Nations Studies, a Professional Communication Essentials Certificate, specialized courses in Early Childhood Education, and a Family Childcare Certificate.
My family and I lived in Italy for 15 years, so I can speak, read and write Italian.
My goal is to combine my experiences in the social services field with teaching ESL and working with First Nations’ programs to provide more valuable support, empower and help improve the lives of children, youth, adults, minorities and seniors alike. When equipped with the adequate tools and resources, I believe people can prevail over barriers and disadvantages such as disabilities, poverty, unemployment, etc. and lead healthy, happy productive lives, as well as contribute successfully to their communities and society.
