The Gospel according to Luke uniquely details an exchange between Christ and one of the thieves c... more The Gospel according to Luke uniquely details an exchange between Christ and one of the thieves crucified with Him: "Lord, remember me when You come into Your kingdom." And Jesus said to him, "Assuredly, I say to you, today you will be with Me in Paradise" (Lk 23.42–43). This book gathers seventeen late antique and early medieval sermons centered upon the "good thief," who figured prominently in celebrations of Good Friday, Holy Saturday, and Pascha. This compendium is a theological and rhetorical treasury, with contributions from early Christianity's most talented preachers in Greek and Latin, including John Chrysostom, Severian of Gabala, Proclus of Constantinople, Maximus of Turin, Fulgentius of Ruspe, Caesarius of Arles, and others. Many of these sermons appear in English for the first time.

Bilby (PhD Virginia, MSLIS Drexel) announces he has discovered the previously lost gospel of Qn, the pre-70 CE Judean gospel about Joshua of Nazareth—a text being painstakingly, scientifically, and gradually reconstructed here in most of its breadth and depth for the first time, together with interconnected reconstructions of the earliest versions of the gospels of Mark, Luke, and Matthew. The New Q or Neue Quelle (Qn) is a major excision, expansion, emendation, and simplification of the Q text that New Testament scholars generally accept as the earliest known Gospel created by Joshua followers in Judea. The discovery and reconstruction of Qn puts Marcion’s Gospel—which has not previously been taken as the primary and earliest textual basis for resolving Q together with the Synoptic Problem—at the center of the puzzle of our earliest Joshua texts and traditions.

Three formats are provided to accommodate various uses, following normalization standards developed by Mark Bilby for Evangelion datasets published in Journal of Open Humanities Data in 2021: a PDF-A format digital primary reconstruction with pagination, footnotes, and critical apparatus; a human- and machine-readable UTF-8 TXT version; and another UTF-8 TXT file with full lemmatization, part of speech, and morphological tagging following the BibleWorks Greek Morphology encoding.

While scholars have explored the profound influence of Iphigenia among the Taurians (IT) on Greco... more While scholars have explored the profound influence of Iphigenia among the Taurians (IT) on Greco-Roman fiction, including Christian apocryphal Acts, the play has yet to be considered seriously as a potential inspiration on the canonical Acts of the Apostles. A close comparison of IT with the story of the Ephesian riot (Acts 19:21-20:1) reveals a compelling relationship in matters of plot, setting, characterization, purpose, and themes. The Ephesus saga in Acts achieves a creatively miniaturized and satirized recasting of this famous Euripidean play.
