The aim of this work was to run an economic assessment of investment in automatic feeding systems... more The aim of this work was to run an economic assessment of investment in automatic feeding systems for grow‐out farms of different sizes producing European sea bass in the Mediterranean Sea. For this, we have used an economic model to simulate the annual income statement of a typical farm with different production volumes: a small‐sized farm with a production of 413 tons/year, a medium‐sized farm of 1122 tons/year, and a large‐sized farm of 2539 tons/year. With the values obtained in the simulation, we have carried out partial budget and investment analyses to estimate the economic value of this investment decision. To complement our economic assessment, a sensitivity analysis has also been run to include risk in the investment decision. Hace 20 anos, en 1997, Jose Luis Muzquiz (como Director) e Ignacio de Blas (como Editor), anuncia... more Hace 20 anos, en 1997, Jose Luis Muzquiz (como Director) e Ignacio de Blas (como Editor), anunciaban el primer numero de la Revista AquaTIC. Una iniciativa liderada desde la Facultad de Veterinaria de la Universidad de Zaragoza, que precedia al nacimiento en el ano 2002 de la Sociedad Espanola de Acuicultura (SEA). Con el apoyo de la Secretaria General de Pesca, se hacia entonces realidad un novedoso proyecto en el que un grupo de personas ligadas a la acuicultura creaban una nueva herramienta de comunicacion y difusion de la informacion. A traves de un medio de difusion facil y comodo, se buscaba difundir en abierto noticias y trabajos tecnicos y cientificos para que todos conocieramos, en cada momento, lo que hace y quien lo hace sobre los diferentes aspectos que engloban la acuicultura, y todo esto en castellano. Desde ese momento, la Revista AquaTIC ha publicado articulos en todas o casi todas las disciplinas que conforman la acuicultura: economia, genetica, patologia, reproducc...

The first five viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (vnsv) isolates found in Spain were examined ... more The first five viral haemorrhagic septicaemia virus (vnsv) isolates found in Spain were examined for in vitro growth characteristics, neutralisation by trout antiserum and immunisation challenge of trout fingerlings by water immersion. The viruses had come from different host species in various geographical locations in different years. Three reference VHSV serotypes (F 1, F 2 and 23"75) were also included in the study. There appeared to be little relationship between the in vivo delay of mortality or the protection of the immunised trout after challenge and the in vitro characteristics studied. In contrast to the in vitro results, the in vivo delay of mortality suggested a closer relationship of the Spanish VHSV isolates to the F 2 serotype than to the F 1 or the 23"75 serotypes. If the final protection figures are analysed, however, there could be three or four groups of viruses.
